Came here for girls night last week, had the honor of meeting Ms. Cassie Schreck, best bartender/waitress in town! I highly recommend her signature cocktail I think it’s called Meridith’s G-Spot if you are a fan of the muddled cucumber cocktail variety. Also highly recommend the Schreck(pizza) which is on happy hour for $ 5. The happy hour prices are very reasonable, the wait staff terrific, and the food and drink hit the spot. I will def be back for more the next time I have a study break :) The one downside to this spot, was the porch being under construction, so it was kinda warm and dark sitting inside on a sunny day. So I’ll be sure to go again when there’s outdoor seating.

This is the last place that we hit up on our Fremont run and it was«A-OK». I gave it four stars though because the ambiance was awesome, the customers are nice and friendly(of course, this is at 1:20am and everyone is probably already drunk-happy) and the bartender lady is stellar in every way possible. As poor college students and this being our last spot, we kinda blew most of our cash so she offered pretty good drinks for the prices we paid. The inside of the place is interesting, you walk in and there’s a sitting area on the left, a stage of some sort and the bar on your right. There’s two unisex bathrooms and an outside deck which is cool, but small. Don’t know much about happy hour, although i shall update after tonight’s Fremont run

I work in Fremont, so this is a frequent and close destination after hours to hit up a happy hour with some of my co-workers. It’s a rather small and sort of dark«lounge» that’s located on 36th next to some other Fremont establishments with the likes of The Hi-Dive. I mainly go for the social aspect and for the $ 5 pizzas! I have to say this is the best part of that place. I sometimes get 2 pizzas because they’re delicious, they have a variety to choose from, and they’re cheap. I have yet to see a band play there, but I’m sure it’s pretty cool. There’s a small deck out in the back for when the weather is nice, or when it gets packed. The service is friendly and fast and the atmosphere is chill. I’ll be back for more happy hour pizza.

I go to Tost for two reasons: a happy hour that goes till 8:00 and the deck in the back. There are only 2 tables on the back deck so hurry before they are gone!

I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars on this one, but I’ll give it 3 because of how insanely cheap HH is. I decided to try Tost out last night because I saw HH goes til 8. We walked in about 6:45, and were the ONLY people in the bar. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like quieter places, but I don’t think I’ve ever been the only person there. Granted, it really isn’t that big, and there are a handful of tables at best. That being said, $ 2.50 drafts(mannys!) and $ 3 wells are the cheapest you’ll find in Fremont(especially with a HH til 8!) $ 5 pizza is nothing to complain about, but it was mediocre at best. I guess you get what you pay for. If I go back, it’ll be because its super cheap or I hear of a good band there. It was rather awkward around 7:30 when the band came and started setting up for music later that night. I felt like we needed to clear out or something as they were lugging in equipment. But can’t beat those prices. I love it soley for that.

I just started working in Fremont and have had a hard time finding a bar that A) still serves happy hour by the time I get off work and B) has a bartender that knows what they are doing. I’m sitting by the fireplace(pleasent perk) right now and drinking a martini that DOESN’T taste like ice water. Its dirty, like asked… which has proved to be a difficult request. but apparently I’ve just been trying the wrong bars. The bartender was actually nice to me, maybe that’s why the counter was lined with girls. I would drink a half cruddy drink from a nice bartender, I would NOT drink an excellent drink from douche bartender. and here I got an excellent drink(I stayed for three more) from an excellent bartender/person. I agree with Jen… SWEEEEEEET!!!

It was Mommy’s Night Out, and the four of us headed to ToST after some dinner. The guy at the door was sweet, our servers were sweet … heck, even the barely-21-year-olds at the adjacent table who kept checking us out were sweet. Sweetness was the theme to the evening, now that I think of it. The music numbers could also be described thusly. The DJ up first(ambiance music?) was good about one Mommy’s music requests — I am told by people in the know that DJs hate requests. So, sweet. Then the opening rapper did his sweet little thing, telling us that one song was very personal: hustling and struggling. I wanted to hug him. The main act(I assume) then informed us that it was their first performance. Aw, sweet. They also deserved hugs. So, the place and all it’s various workers and entertainers are sweet. It’s clean and that’s nice. The music was up way too loud — wayyyy. Maybe you can discount this because, as a Mommy, you can go ahead and assume that I am over 30. But wayyyyy loud. And the music just wasn’t very good. We went to dance and only did that for one song. And no one else ever hit the dance floor. Perhaps on a different night ??? Perhaps if I go for happy hour ??? But I can only say that it’s A-OK. And sweet.

This is one of my favorite happy hour places. $ 2.50 draft beer and $ 5 pizza. But the pizza isn’t any average pizza. It is absolutely amazing! Super thin crispy crust and delicious toppings. My favorite is the Grecian. It’s also nice that their happy hour here is later than most places(5 – 8 daily) so you can actually eat and grab a beer around dinnertime.

The only really cool thing about this place last night was the performer Papa Josh. The drinks were alright, the staff were mostly okay, and I like the easy access to the fresh air outside(patio out back or the sidewalk in the front). It was kind of weird because the place seemed to have lost half its clientele by the time the really good act came on.(Apparently people are cool paying a $ 5 cover just to see half the show and spend more money on booze?) I’d probably give them a 4 just because it was good once my friend got there(she was running super late) and when the performer whose music I really enjoyed came on, but… I can’t do that because the bathroom(or at least the one closer to the back patio) smelled like a porta-potty. I don’t know why that was, but that was BAD. Prices for those who care: Cover was $ 5, draft beer was $ 4, red bull + vodka was $ 7, red bull + jäger(friend had it– the thought of jäger makes me shudder) was $ 8.

Tost was our destination to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and move to some salsa and son from the Supersones. Tost is a decent enough music venue in Fremont, although I expected something fancier than a concrete floor and a tiny stage. The space is long and narrow with good cross ventilation from front to back, proven by the sweeping scent of cigar from the person smoking it on the tiny back deck. I was unimpressed by the space, and even less impressed by the bartender. When I requested 4 margaritas, she did an eye roll and made an interesting face along the lines of «ohgawdnotmoremargaritas.» I’m not sure what she was expecting on Cinco de Mayo. The punishment was that she took her sweet time making them, filling like 3 other drink orders in between the time I ordered and the time drinks were finalized. It was a tasty margarita, with the lime and ice muddled by hand. But it was not worth the drama and hang time. I won’t be ordering from her anytime soon, and I won’t be in a hurry to return to Tost.

Made it here for Cinco de Mayo and saw a decent local Cuban band(The Supersones). I also got to meet up with some cool Unilocalers here! It was an awesome show, and we even got to get some dancing in. Had a round of margaritas and they were decent. I was a little surprised at this venue. I’d heard of it from KEXP and other places, and I guess I built it up in my mind more. I thought it would be more… nicer inside. I don’t know. The dance floor was a little rough(was that asphault??), the deck in the back looked a little wacked, and it just seemed different from what I expected. But what can ya say, they have some nice performers here, so I can’t complain!

I always have a good time here, don’t get me wrong. But do yourself a favor and don’t have a Mojito. It’s made with some syrup rather than scratch and… it’s gross. Trust me. Bonus for the bartender NOT charging for the unsatisfactory drinks. I really wish the patio were a bit bigger and had more late afternoon sun exposure but what can ya do?

Well, they still get four stars. But they changed the happy hour deal, so now it’s just half off on pizza instead of the entire menu. Don’t get me wrong — Tost has delicious pizza and $ 5 for a pie ain’t bad at all. The cheese plate — now $ 10 all the time — is still delicious, and even at full price cheaper than the one at Brouwers. It was just too good to be true.

I was non-plussed with ToST. I tried it yesterday after having read the reviews, and the menu online. I was in from LA, and needed to have some sitdown time with friends, and ToST looked like as good a place as any. First off, the bar kind of smelled like urine, something you never want any place to smell like. And, when given the menu, the bartender said, «this menu is out of date, some of these drinks we don’t have all the ingredients for.» The art on the walls was great, and the variety of music was also good, but the food & drink were mediocre. All in all, I don’t believe I’ll be returning, if I have a reason to be back in Seattle.

Cool place. I went here to see a newly acquired friend’s band play. They were quite good, and the sound was near perfect — not too loud you couldn’t talk to people. There’s a bunch of local art hanging on the walls, plenty of tables in the front, a small lounge area in the back, and a somewhat rickety-feeling deck on which to befoul your lungs. The bartender was a little surly(bad day, perhaps?) and the tonic was flat, but once I switched to greyhounds I was a happy girl. They fresh squeeze all their juice individually for each drink, which is awesome, but perhaps this was why the bartender was surly — it must be a huge pain in the ass when it’s busy. All in all, it’s a nice spot on the small strip of happenin’ places in Fremont. I’ll be back.

I was sitting in Tost waiting for my buddy to come join me, eating a pizza on the back deck, talking with a couple girls and enjoying the weather. Summer had poked its head out from under the cloudy pillow it was hiding under for a brief moment, and we had sun, warmth, and a deck to enjoy it on. I watched my buddy walk by out front at least twice, looking for Tost. It’s one pitfall: the sign is small and hard to read, regardless of its pole position on its busy corner in Fremont. I always need to tell people to look for the High Dive and head next door. Unless I don’t like them, in which case I tell them to stay. No that I don’t like the High Dive, in fact I really do. But if I’m not going to be there, I’d rather that they’re there without me. Anyway, I figured he’d figure it out. He’s a smart guy. And he did. I was eating a pizza. Tost has good pizza. They may have good toast, I’ve never asked, but I just kinda gotta assume. I shared with the gals out on the deck with me, and they agreed it was good. They also finished it off for me. Well, I offered. The bartender is friendly and makes good drinks. He also will hand you a free soda if you decide to get responsible and stop drinking hours before you drive. I love that. I seriously do. Thanks man, for helping me be responsible. The owner is a cool guy as well, he was there on a couple of the Sunday evenings I was there to watch my friends Adam Hunter and Faith Beattie play Brazilian Lounge. And by the way, they have a HUGE Sunday happy hour: 5pm-8pm I think? Awesome. That’s a lot of time to pack down some food and alcohol, and then you have a lot of time to sober up before driving home(and listen to great music). The ambiance here is great too. I love the hanging lamps, the art is always cool. You may get lost finding the bathrooms, as the doors are camouflaged into the wall they’re set into, but they’re there, and they’re usually clean. There are some comfy couches near the door, tables and padded benches elsewhere, and plenty of room to grab a random someone and make her dance with you. The bouncer has been really cool as well. I tried to walk in with a Peet’s Coffee(just down the street), and he very politely stopped me and let me know I couldn’t bring it in. He’s remembered me when I come back, and is always friendly. This is a great venue, another reason why Fremont is worth the drive. Or taxi fare, if you’re REALLY smart and don’t want to have to sober up first.

I like Tost. It’s not too big, the bartenders(read: Dallas, kick ass bartender) are always very nice and pour a good drink and there’s always decent music there(for the most part). Fremont is a straight shot for me, so it’s convenient. I don’t get why it’s taken me years to post about this place… sigh…

BASEDONPERFORMINGTHERE — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - i’m giving a three because when i ordered a salad,(the Cobb) it was good, cheap, and she even split it for us! i think the half gin drink i had was really good, too. BUT no coffee??? i thought you had to have coffee by LAW or something. i mean, what if someone is like, REALLY drunk, and it’s 12 am. i know, i know, your so close to 12 coffee places… but what if they are closed? for myself, last night, i did not want to have to walk in the cold to go get my hot caffeine fix! what do you think comedians LIVE off, if not coke? and the sound quality was REALLY bad for live shows. Not only was the mike givin me guff the second set, but the burlesque music wasn’t the same volume all the way through, although this may have been the fault of several parties. i’m gonna check it out again, but so far, i wasn’t greatly impressed. Try harder! GETCOFFEE!!!

Our requirements were cheap, filling, and alcoholic. Five beers, one pizza, one Mediterranean platter and $ 23 later, we wandered out of Tost’s happy hour very satisfied. At 7:00pm on a Friday night, it was fairly empty inside. We easily found a spot at the bar where we encountered very friendly and attentive service throughout. At one point, we were even comped a free sample shot when we asked what drink the bartender was mixing. As I mentioned though, beer was our main elixir of choice. The selection was small with maybe five beers on tap, but they had enough local variety to keep us happy. At $ 5 per plate, the happy hour menu was a bargain. It is a relatively small menu, but the portions of what they do have are very generous. They have a choice of five or so pizzas, and the crust is a pre-formed shell, but the toppings were very good. The Mediterranean platter was surprisingly large and included a wedge of cheese, fresh tomato and cucumber slices, a handful of various olives, a handful of almonds, a dozen or so wedges of pesto and Parmesan-topped flat bread, hummus, and roasted red pepper dip. Overall, the portion size and quality of the food was excellent compared to the price, and even at full price($ 10), I would not have felt ripped-off. Between the service, the food and the prices, we will definitely be visiting Tost for happy hour again in the near future. If you are looking for a mellow spot to chat, have a few drinks and a casual meal, happy hour at Tost would make a fine choice.

Decent place that makes some interesting and inventive cocktails. My bartender rating standard of the Old Fashioned was thrown for a loop when I saw that they had a house specialty called the Very Old Fashioned. It involved ginger and no cherry. I liked it. They also made me a basil cucumber martini that I also enjoyed. It was refreshing. The half off of all food on the happy hour made it a decent value(from 4 to 6pm I believe) and they make a decent little pizza. We had the place to ourselves so it was a very chill rather than hopping vibe.
