Travelodge Seattle North / Aurora

Okay place, but not for the $ 79/​night that we’ve spent in November. Then again, prices go up to $ 165+/night in the summer, so I don’t know how this place manages to get away with these high prices.
The room is decent size, but bathroom is tiny and loud. In the bathroom, the integrated light and fan is dark and loud, respectively. The bathtub/​shower curtain hangs about 3-​inches into the bathtub floor, causing you to step on it while showering. Very unpleasant, and I can imagine how much mold collects in that area unless you push out the wet curtain to the outside for drying. But then your floor is wet, which you will have a hard time cleaning up with the limited amount of towels they provide.
The sink is located outside of the tiny bathroom, which features a 80’s style faucet that cost about $ 20 at your local Home Depot. Rather than replacing it, they retain the original 30+ year old that has green mold growing like a science experiment.
There is an additional hole just over the queen bed, that we believe leads into the room next door. Had to plug it with some tissues just in case we have a peeping tom. But honestly, something like this should have been patched up.
Don’t expect a iron and a board for all your luggage crushed clothing. Also, be prepared to step into the 80’s again with the CRT TV that is thicker/​deeper than it is wider/​taller. And on that TV there are plenty of channels which are blocked out. Only about 15 – 20 are actually view able.
All in all, I’d be okay in paying $ 40-​$ 45 for this place, and in those peak-​days no more than $ 80 (like we paid), but this place needs a serious reboot.

Cheap, but not cheap enough.
OK first things first: I knew this hotel was going to be kind of bad but I didn’t know it would be this bad for the price I paid. There are hotels a lot further south that are about $ 60 per night that don’t charge for parking. Every other hotel near Seattle charges over $ 150-​$ 200 plus a $ 20-​$ 25 parking fee. This hotel charged $ 100 but is the quality of the $ 60 hotels, if that.
My door and windows are closed, but I can hear the cars on the road and the road is about a football field away. I can’t hear anyone in the rooms next to mine so I guess that’s good. I think the problem is the door: the door being open or closed does not really change how much sound is coming into this room.
The continental breakfast at this hotel had some bananas that still needed to ripen, some cereal, coffee, orange juice, water, bagels and English muffins with nothing to put on them, and had room for only about 15 people even then there probably 80+ rooms.
I’ve stayed in rooms that are a lot worse. I’ve even lived in a hotel that was probably about half as good as this one for a month. So this hotel is not that bad if you’re looking for something close to the city that is somewhat cheap; but you could probably find a cheaper hotel that has a lot more.

If you are a light sleeper, don’t get a room near Jack in the Box, as customers use the drive through at all hours of the night and you’ll hear the intercom. It kept me awake so I went down and asked for another room. The female manager was reluctant to place me elsewhere, which I didn’t understand since I’m paying to stay here to sleep.
The male employee was telling me this is one of the only safe hotels on Aurora. I think he mentioned Days Inn as the other one, which I didn’t find nice at all. Travelodge doesn’t take cash and most of their clientele are travelers.
A queen runs $ 89.99 without tax. With AAA it’s $ 80 or $ 88.77 with tax. (This rate is good as of Aug 2015.)

Decent hotel. Clean and on the cheaper side.
You get what you pay for. Nothing fancy, but a clean and comfy place to rest.
The access to public transit is awesome and will take you right into the city super fast.
The guys in the office are pleasant and while breakfast kinda sucks, the coffee is delicious!
Would stay again if I had to but I liked the looks of the hotels right in downtown more, might be worth the extra fifty bucks a night.

I picked this place because it was cheap, parking was free, and it was relatively close to the downtown attractions that I wanted to see. Sometimes you get what you pay for, though. I had 2 big complaints — first, the supposed free wi-​fi never worked (and the guy at the counter wasn’t that interested that it wasn’t working), and second, the supposed non-​smoking room that they gave me had been smoked in quite a bit in the past. The air in Room 108 was very stale, and it was difficult for me to sleep. If like me you have a very sensitive nose concerning cigarette smoke, stay away from Room 108!

The room was clean, service was nice and the price was decent. Breakfast wasn’t too exciting but there is good food in the area.

This place is relatively cheap, acceptably clean, and as well maintained as you would expect from a major chain that has some semblance of quality control. However, the road noise is excessive and I had to sleep with earbuds blasting white noise into my brain in order to get to sleep. Not recommended.

Certainly overpriced for what you get, but it is close to downtown Seattle, if you have a car (or you can take public transit in, which is a straight shot). The room was clean enough, though it’s pretty obvious that the place is pretty old and hasn’t seen a makeover in quite some time (chipped paint and wood). My room was non-​smoking, but definitely had a tinge of smoke in there. Our back window looked into someone else’s yard, which was weird. The breakfast looked so terrible and full of empty carbs that despite our stingy inclinations we went in search of better fare elsewhere.
also, the guy working the desk when we checked in was a bit creepy. He looked at me and said, «have you stayed with us before?» and when I said I was from out of town, so no, he looked surprised and said that he could’ve sworn I’ve been there many times before. Which is weird in itself, but to say that to someone in front of their boyfriend has some unsavory implications.

The hotel was very clean and the receptionist Michele was very friendly. It’s not in the best part of town but it is near downtown.

Ok for the good price. We didn’t book and just dropped in. $ 60US/​night.
Nothing fancy, but decent. 1 bed, full bathroom, small fridge, TV, free wifi, complimentary breakfast (donuts, cereals, toast, fruits, coffee). The heater was our only complaint — only had a On or High switch and couldn’t adjust. We woke up several times to either switch off or turn on. We didn’t have any neighbours (empty rooms on both sides) so it was quiet. Lots of parking space (free) Probably inconvenient place if you don’t have a car.

This hotel is nothing special. That is actually why I go there. Typically the room is clean and in good working order. Sometimes there are things in the room that need some help like a broken safe (they have safes for storing things) or something is wrong with the TV. Most of the time, everything works and is clean. I have spent the night there a few times. The last time, the bed sheets needed to be changed. I simply called the front desk and had them take care of it. I check these things prior to settling in. I will strip the whole bed and request whole new bedding in a case like this. This way I know they don’t use the old stuff in case of that one lazy cleaning staff turning the rooms. The people at the bus stop can be interesting, but I never have felt unsafe here.
This is all the potential things that could happen, but it is easy enough to correct. It is a cheap hotel and their staff usually doesn’t get paid a lot, so this is not like getting a room at the Westin, Fairmont Hotel, etc…
So for the good stuff. This is a stand by I use when I need to stay downtown for an affordable rate. They take AAA for a deeper discount. It is no frills, but private and close enough to the action. The staff are usually professional and polite. When I ask for help, they always are good about trying to help me, so they do a good job overall.
Not a lot of people know about or use this hotel, so your competition for rooms are minimized. A friend clued me into this place because I wanted something near Wallingford and Fremont Districts where I catch shows and view art.
They are near Greenlake, Beth’s Café (my fave breakfast spot), and The Zoo. This is not too far away from downtown, on a major highway aka 99, and is nearby UW, Ballard, and other fun things.
Cabs can be a bit tricky because it is on the edge of taxi lines. North End taxi is the one they recommend at the desk. I think Yellow cab is one too. Taxis can be a bit tricky in this city. Über is a new one I will try next time. Many of my friends use this and love it.
For a quick fast food bite, Jack in the Box is right next door. There is also a strip mall with a theater more towards Greenwood area up the road on 100^th and Aurora Ave.
So overall, I still recommend and use this hotel almost exclusively. But just like all affordable hotels, sometimes things aren’t exactly perfect, but this gem gets you what you need at a price that doesn’t hurt the wallet. Overall, 85−90% of the time, they are right on target where the problems people have experienced here don’t occur. If you are really picky, I recommend a much higher end nice hotel downtown, but you will pay 3x as much or more likely. So if you just need a bed and a TV with a simple coffee maker, shower, etc…, this is your place. The people who stay here are like us looking for affordable accommodations.

Room was inexpensive, but you still got a decent room to sleep in. No frills, but clean and well maintained.

Good price, clean room, decent Internet… I stayed here for a few days while on business, and it was nice. Internet could of been a bit better, but overall I was pretty happy with the place, for the price.

I did like this Travelodge…
But when we decide to stay here a second time, we were REFUSED a room. All because we did not have a permanent address (we were relocating at the time). We wanted three nights here and were refused. We were confused because we had stayed here before with no issue with addresses. It was a hassle. The previous stay was good though. Nice, clean rooms. Refrigerator and microwave in each room and lots of television channels.
But now that we have an apartment, if we were to stay at a hotel, it wouldn’t be here because we only needed to conserve money for a down payment.
I would reccomend any Hyatt downtown. So much better! :)

Decent enough place, rather far from city center, but somewhat cheap. Paid $ 75/​night for midweek early september.
Pros:
+Clean room: no smoke smell, bed/​bathroom/​sink were in order. No stains or bad sheets.
+Checked in @ 4 pm without any problems :)
+Nice staff (except for one incident, see below)
+Free breakfast (no waffles, but cold & hot cereal, juices, english muffins, generic mini-​donuts)
+Bus stop isn’t too far (see below)
+Wifi (was password protected, but free and password is given at check-​in without any hassle)
Cons:
–Old CRT TV. Really?
–Bathroom lighting was dim
–Shower head didn’t provide much water pressure
–Window in back of room was open and weirdly ajar when I came in @ 4:15pm.
–Parking spaces are narrow and people with crazy-​sized american trucks and vans tend to frequent this place (even a couple of trailers were in parking spots, so it really minimized the lot)
–local crazies (it’s seattle, I expect them), but maybe worse since the bus stop wasn’t far from the motel.
–Xenophobic/​mean staff (mean to foreigners). I fit in easily to US culture, but a larger family of Filipinos (7 – 8) speaking in Tagalog were made to feel like shit by the front desk woman who decided breakfast was over for them and said «YOU LIKE BREAKFAST? GOOD. ITS OVER. NO MORE FOOD NOW.» — really? it’s well past the 90s, treating minorities poorly is just pathetic, especially in larger cities like Seattle.

Stayed here 7 – 6 and 7 – 5 2012 and had a good experience. Our room was very, very clean. New Ac unit, squeaky clean bathroom, no odor. Continental breakfast is good.
Beth’s Café a few blocks south on Aurora is the place if you want a really good breakfast. It was on a Man vs Food episode and they have huge potions for breakfast.
We payed like $ 80 per night. We found it very easy to get downtown.
I would definitely stay here again.

DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY. The woman working the front desk when we checked in was extremely short and rude. We get up to our room and I slowly start noticing all the nastiness the room had to offer. Walls were stained, bathroom sealings stained w god knows what else on it, there were no towels in the bathroom and I wanted to grab our travel blanket to sleep on bc I was that sketch about the bed. The plus of the hotel the nice nite front desk lady, who was awesome, and the free breakfast.

I’m lazy so here’s a few bullets on my experience
–The parking is tight
–The free breakfast is cereal, chocolate donuts, apples, bananas, juice, and coffee.
–The employees were friendly
–The rooms were cleaned up every day
–The alarm clock in our room had a broken power cord. It would turn on randomly and wake us up.
–There’s a jack in the box next door so late night snacks were easily accessible
–The wifi was a bit spotty

I honestly don’t know what the fuss is about in previous reviews. I just moved to town so I’m staying here (total of 3 nights) and I don’t see any problems. The rooms are A-​Ok (I have stayed in two different rooms too), everything works especially the heat which is obviously very important. The price is good, the beds are actually not bad at all compared to other motels I’ve stayed in. It was a bit noisy at times but it’s a hotel — bring ear plugs or your own towel if these small issues bother you.
Plus, Die Hard is on the telly.

We arrived to this place after a tired trip and a visit to the Pacific Science Center, and Space Needle. The woman at the front desk wanted a photo of our Driver’s License so that if we lost our room key that we would show her our ID and she could help us get back into our room.
When we got into our room, it looked quite nice, there was a window in the back towards the bathroom which overlooked a street full of Town houses, there was no screen on the window so we had to close it to prevent bugs from coming into the room. We sat on the bed and that was probably what really disappointed me the most, the entire room was nice but the bed was a killer on my back.
I don’t think anyone could get a nice nights sleep with a bed that was stiff as a rock, even when I sat down the bed didn’t move, it wasn’t soft just really hard. Another good thing about the location of this hotel is that its 10 minutes away from downtown Seattle. Near the hotel there was a Jack In The Box and across a street a Gas Station, not sure if it was an AM/​PM but it was something. But the problem with the area it seems pretty ghetto, too many homeless people asking for money, which seemed to happen a lot even in Downtown Seattle. It was also my first time being in Seattle and I was sort of shocked to see so many people asking for money.
Overall the room was nice just didn’t like the bed, I would stay here again but just as long as they changed the way the bed feels. Softer beds would be nice.
