University Laundry Center

See picture above: «We offer dry cleaning services at all of our locations.» Except Roosevelt, apparently. I walked in and the attendant said they had no dry cleaning.

This place is NOT open until 10PM.
This place advertises that it’s open till 9PM Mon-​Sat.
However, you have to get there before 7PM, or they won’t let you in.
Sundays they close at 8PM, but you have to get there by 6PM, or they won’t let you in.
What needs to change is that AFTER those cut off hours, they need to turn off their two open signs, and take the their 3^rd open sign out of the window. They should also probably close the door. What’s really annoying is you have to pay to park in the parking lot, so after I already paid, I lugged my laundry to what looked like an open business.
«Sir, hello, we close.»
«Um… are you sure? There are two open signs on, and your door is open?»
«Jes.» (Yes in Guatemalan accent)
«Ok, well, maybe should should turn off all those open signs so people stop trying to come in?»
«Jes.»
(Awkward long pause, staring at each other)
«You’re not going to turn those signs off, are you?»
«Jes.»
Since I already paid for parking, I walked down the strip and killed an hour. When I came back, door was still open, signs were still on.

This place is fine if you go earlier in the day.

I went here when my dryer broke and I was waiting for the repair man to come. Unfortunately it was during the summer on a 95 degree day. This place sadly did not have much of a breeze or anything, and was at least another 10 degrees hotter than outside. While it’s pretty clean, the dryers take forever to dry anything. I was trying to dry some towels and it took about 6 cycles in the dryer to become mostly dry. That also meant over an hour of me waiting around for my load to be done. My experience here just made me realllyyyy glad to have a washer and dryer in my apartment.

I have been using their home pick-​up/​drop-​off service for about a year now and have had nothing but good experiences. The wash room in my apartment building is abysmal and this service saves me an invaluable amount of time and stress, always worth the fair price they charge.

The place is clean and there is a friendly attendant always working. Free wi-​fi and parking makes this a must have for choosing a laundromat. It is affordable as I only spend $ 5 to get all my clothes done and the units are newer and work great. Definitely recommend.

I dropped off my blanket/​comforter the other day and asked the girl working there if this is a blanket or comforter. She confirmed that it was a BLANKET and, after holding it, said that it would probably cost me under $ 9 to have it cleaned (@$ 1.20/lb).
My drop off time: 1pm Saturday
My assigned pickup time: 1pm Sunday
I went there at 1:30pm today to pick it up and IT WAS NOT DONE. In fact, it was sitting in the SAME SPOT inside their «office»!
When I got there, another employee was working and she KNEW she MESSED UP. She had a look of «oh crap, woops» on her face but not a word of «sorry» was uttered. Instead, she gave me a snoot face and said, «Come back in 1 hour.»
I’m thinking, «WHAT? I gave you guys 24 HOURS to clean ONE full-​sized blanket. And you don’t even say sorry or LOOK sorry. AND you TELL me to come back in 1-​hr?
Ok, fine. Whatever. You don’t leave me much choice.»
So. I leave. Kill an hour and I go back.
The blanket is cleaned (I don’t know how well she cleaned it). She rings me up. $ 14.95.
WHAT?
She claims its a comforter and that its queen size. Which, (1) that is not what the first employee said and (2) it is not a queen-​sized blanket/​comforter/​whoknows.
*Also, this place is CASH ONLY so… to add fuel to my fire, I had to leave the place again to find an ATM machine.
NO. NO NO NO. Don’t go here if you want to drop-​off your dirty whatever. Incompetence cost me more than $ 15 today.

I haven’t been to a laundromat in years so I had no idea what to expect. I found this place using Unilocal and was interested because of the free wi-​fi and free parking. There was an attendant there (super nice lady) that helped me figure out which washer worked for my large comforter. The place was certainly not luxurious but it was clean. I would love if they had newer chairs in there — I felt a little creeped out when I sat down but I quickly got used to it after I saw how much cleaning that attendant was doing. I think I spent $ 4 to wash a king size comforter and got to shop online while waiting — oh and parking was free… although it appeared to be just the first few spots right in front (tight squeeze!).

Well the good is that they have some newer machines. But half of the machines are all out of order. In terms of the laundromats in Seattle it is average

In order to call yourself a laundry mat you really need to have working and availible Machines– this place doesnt! I try to use it very regularly but the machines are always broken or the few that do work are being used to do the wash a fold service for nearby hotels! i know thats where they make there money but then they should just do that and not try to be a laundry mat! the dryers rarely dry, and again are often unavailible! also because the wash and fold business does so many white sheets there is often bleach residue in the machines– i’ve had at least three loads of wash accidently bleached– (i dont even own a bottle of bleach so i know it wasent my mistake) i would NOT recomend this facility!

Well, I’m really excited to see what happens.
I read on their website that they will Wash/​Dry/​Fold my laundry for me.
Currently laundry has taken a backseat to everything else in my life and my home was being overrun, so I bagged it up! I brought it all down to their U-​District location (they also have Fremont location).
I emailed them and received prompt responses about what the cost includes, and if i have to buy soap additionally. I dropped of 6 — 7 huge garbage bags of my stuff and it’s all gonna be nicely cleaned, folded (!!!) and repackaged with a nice, fresh, clean scent for $ 0.90 per pound. I cannot wait to see what happens and how much it all ends up weighing/​costing.

Now that I can see the floor in some rooms at my home I can finally start cleaning.
OK, So I got all my stuff back and it was FANTASTIC!
All of my clothes were beautifully clean and folded, and packaged up in saran-​like plastic. All my sox were folded and everything was packaged with like articles of clothing. My clothes ended up weighing 82 lbs but I still think it was well worth it!
Highly recommended: for when your laundry becomes daunting and overwhelming.

I’ve never used a laundry service before, so I was a wee bit nervous, but I had nothing to worry about. They did a fabulous job w/​all our huge piles, and they came out looking and smelling lovely. Yay!
Cash or check only, be advised.
Oh, and only park in the spots right in front of the building.

This place is fantastic! I love going here and doing my laundry in at least over half the time it would take to do it at my apartment building! The wifi is really good and the attendants dont really speak English, but they are super friendly and always happy to help. There is NO bathroom which sucks, you have to go into Pagliacci Pizza and try to get into their or walk aimlessly to find another. The best part is that their dryers are HUGE so you can fit TWO-​THREE loads of laundry in there at once. Its great, makes it easy to get it all down quick and in the mean time you can go online with your comp, or read or shop around the UDistrict! Oh, and its totally free parking, I got a parking ticket there once and they didnt even ask questions, just took it off my hands and I was never billed. Go there! I come all the way from Capitol Hill!

Well, that was disappointing.
Seeing from the website how they were open until 10, we assumed that by arriving two hours prior we’d be good to go. Well, no. After walking in the door, a little hispanic woman ran up to us and said we «no go» and frantically pointed to a sign that say loads must be started by 8 PM. It was 8:03. Ummmm… ok. I would have started to argue that since we’re just doing sheets we only needed about an hour anyway, but then looked around and realized we were screwed since half of the open machines were marked «out of order». Well, that was a good waste of a drive over.
You’d think the disappointment was over, but it quickly got lots worse. I’d temporarily parked in a spot, leaving my lights on and door open until we could figure out how the parking thing worked. After spending a whole 20 seconds inside the Laundromat, I’ve got a parking buzzard standing in front of me writing down my license plate. We explain what happened, he responds by saying «too bad», and that since we «parked» we must pay. I say that’s ridiculous (he clearly saw us come in less than a minute ago) and say we’re leaving, and don’t owe him s thing. He says since we’re not paying he’s now ticketing us. I say yeah… whatever. He then tells me to «get the fuck off his property», and he’d «better not see my face again», or I’d be immediately towed.
Wow, you head out to do some laundry and end up running in to the West African version of old man Peabody. I guess it’s been so long since I’ve been a student, I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be treated like complete shit.

The full-​time attendants on duty make this place stand out. If you lose your quarters in a machine or if a dryer isn’t working, they’ll happily help you. That being said, I really haven’t had many problems with the machines. $ 1.50 for washers, $ 0.25 per 8 minutes for dryers (a medium-​sized load will take about 3 quarters on ‘high’). Clean, late-​model machines. Clothes rarely come home with the «laundromat dryer smell».
Free parking is a big plus… especially in this neighborhood. I’ve never had to do the «run in and get a token» bit as Sky C. mentioned. I did get a ticket while parked in the reserved space once, though. I took the ticket in to the laundry attendant and they took care of everything. Such great service!
Lots of folding space, clean floors, soda machine, and up-​to-​date posters/​advertisements on the walls for local shows and events.
I recommend coming before UW classes get out, and stay away on the weekends before 6pm…
6÷13÷07: I had to dock two stars off this place. The past few months I’ve had nothing but poor experiences. Nearly half the dryers are «out of order» and have been in this condition for almost four months. They handle laundry orders here, so count on the remaining dryers being used for internal purposes. If you’re lucky, they’ll let you grab one at the end of the cycle. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait a while.

Clean laundromat with free wi-​fi and free parking! Prices are about par for the course, and every time I’ve been there, the machines all worked. The only thing missing is a centrifuge, but the dryers work well enough to make up for that. The place is well lit and has always had an attendant when I’ve been there.
To get the free parking, you’ll need to park in the pay lot directly in front of the laundromat. Run inside and see the attendant for a parking token. Take the token to the machine in the parking lot, and you’ll be good to go. The token will only get you an hour of free parking, so you may need to ask for another one before your laundry is done since they only give them out one at a time. The tokens act as a cash credit toward your parking, by the way, so you can add money to get a cheaper long-​term rate if you want to do your laundry and then stick around the U District for a while.
