Beware! Their mock-meats are not vegan. Only veg-friendly. :) Order w/Tofu if you’re going the vegan route. Otherwise, the food here is great. Service was a little slow when we arrived, and the house was nearly empty. Great location though. We were looking for yummy veggie Thai food, and they delivered! It’s hard to put up a fight against Araya’s just down the street though. Mmmm. Id come back again. I loved the nice clean quiet atmosphere. Pleasant staff.

CLOSED! What a shame. Soon to be a «What the Phở» vietnamese restaurant.

Tasty food, reasonably priced. I ordered gyoza and something with veggie«beef» and brown gravy over crunchy noodles. Entrees were all $ 7 and generously sized. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll ever be back. The music(KISS106.1 radio) was so horrible that I shoveled food into my mouth so quickly that my hands were but a blur between plate and mouth. I’ve remained blissfully unaware that music that bad exists, let alone that people willingly subject themselves to it. The worst song of them all was like a caricature of everything that should never be done in music. The«producer» was using autotune software along with an amen break dropped in seemingly at random and lyrics that were so bad that I really hope it was an intentional parody of something. And if the godawful music wasn’t bad enough… why would anyone want to listen to ads for car toys and insurance in a restaurant? I felt like I was on a candid camera show and there should be a voiceover saying«Now… let’s see how these ordinary restaurant patrons react when we torture them with the worst of audio experiences.» Aren’t the poor employees suffering too? Won’t someone end this misery?

I went in the afternoon, and it was very empty. I was immediately greeted, seated, and given a menu. The waitress was very attentive and they were happy to make a substitution for me. I was also asked which«milk» I wanted in my Thai tea. The food came *extremely* quickly and was delicious. Overall I had a great experience. I only wish it had been there when I lived in the neighborhood!

This is the coolest veggie place on the Ave. From being greeted at the door, to hand shakes with the owner/chef, this place is a kept secret. The food prices have kept a modest level and the owner has his family and friends working to make this place rock! The meals have always been consistently good, the veggies fresh, spices clean, good solid performance on the quality. The curry dishes are GREAT and the fried chick-like nuggets are tha BOMB! The homage to Elvis and the King of Thailand is fun, and the spiritual statues and décor is groovy without being overbearing.

I have been there a couple times in the last two weeks. My boyfriend and I found it and became really big fans. I really like their yellow curry with fried tofu, and my boyfriend likes the rama noodles. I like how you can pick if you want soy milk, coconut milk, or half-and-half in your Thai iced tea there. There is a kind of strange rubber smell in the restaurant, but I got over it fairly quickly. They have a big TV and play movies, which I like. This place is definitely worth checking out.

I walked into a empty restaurant at noon on a Saturday, and instantly was made to feel welcome in the quaint comfortable setting. The server seated me and pulled out my chair which made me smile. The menu was minimal, but full of traditional dishes. Veggie Veggie is couple dollars cheaper than what I was use to– which was nice. I ordered the«ginger” — «ginger» came with an assortment of fresh vegetable– like cabbage– mushrooms– peppers– etc, shoestring ginger pieces, chili flakes, scallions, a mount of brown rice, and choice of meat(mine was fresh tofu– the fake chicken/beef/shrimp was tempting due to curiosity) swimming in the sauce. The vegetable were more crisp then tender, but still worked. The tofu and rice was just the right amount for a lunch entrée. The dish was flavorful and comfort food on a cold day. I asked for 3 stars and would have to say that it was a weak 3 stars. I like Veggie Veggie– it is the type of place you return too because it is inviting not because the food is excellent– though it is good! Sidenote– about halfway through my visit I realized that the restaurant was piping in country music and right as I was leaving Garth came on… score!

Veggie Veggie surprised us! From the window it seems like a modest little café, from the inexpensive prices and paper napkins, but the food itself was much better than we expected. The waitress was also very attentive(she knew precisely what was vegan on the menu too, which was most things), and the chef(who has a front kitchen in the dining area) was really cheerful. The curry parcel puffs were filled with a delicious variety of veggies, the faux-chicken tasted almost like chicken nuggets(in a good way), and the coconut-based curry sauce was outstanding. Most dishes can be made spicy or less spicy to your preference.

i went here in summer 2006, which i think is when it opened. i was on the ave with a vegetarian and we saw an unfamiliar sign so we had to try it! from my memory… pros: it was super fast the veggies were fresh MAJORCONS: the veggies werent cooked enough spiciness sucked so it was pretty much like eating warmed veggies in oil and peanut sauce. it was overwhelmingly unsatisfying for ave thai

My boyfriend and I LOVE Veggie, Veggie! It’s tasty, affordable and the portions are very filling. We have been here at least seven times. The sampler appetizer plate is wonderful. I haven’t seen a selection like that for vegetarians in Seattle yet! The food is tasty and freshly prepared. The staff is sweet, courteous and totally remember us when we walk in. The only downside is the décor is a little underwhelming but I can absolutely deal with that. The largest downside, which is no fault of Veggie Veggie, is the bus stop outside. How do I put this delicately… sometimes the aromas of that bus stop and a restaurant don’t jive so well. Even then we still venture inside(or to go) because it is so wonderful! Try it and you won’t be sorry.

Tragedy has struck my life. I loved this place… until 2 days ago. My friends from the east coast were in town, and I raved about this place. So we went for lunch. My friend opened his menu, and out popped a cockroach. Yes. A cockroach. Then, the waitress took it, and put the cockroach in the garbage. …The garbage. Where it will eventually crawl out and birth 3 trillion baby cockroaches. Needless to say, I won’t be going back. Ever. RIP, Veggie Veggie.

I like that they let you select«vegetables» if you don’t want the fake meat/tofu products. I also like that they have recently always asked if I want egg in my dish or not. I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I dig this place. Last time I went I got an appetizer and phad thai, which ended up being enough for two slightly hungry people to get pleasantly satisfied.

This restaurant is great. cheap eats and healthy. However the service is slow for such a small place with not many tables. If your willing to wait and sacrifice service for food… you certainly will eat healthy and the food is tasty. However, there are a lot of other places to go that are veggie, healthy, and quick. but if you have time to wait. this place is worth your dime and your heart.

Pretty good. I don’t seek it out, but it is tasty and if someone suggested we eat there I wouldn’t throw a fit or anything, but… it didn’t wow me. The phad thai was solid and I think they do a great job with fake meat. I’m trying to be nice. It’s just«meh». It is VERY hard to do Thai food on The Ave. since there is SOMUCHOFIT and they are overshadowed by location and the fact that, for vegetarian Thai, Araya’s is superior in every way.

BESTVEGETARIAN/VEGAN THAIFOODINSEATTLE!!! Located on University District’s «The Ave». Waitstaff and cooks are very sweet, and prompt with service. Food is always fresh and made well. Favorite dish= pineapple fried rice-raisins. and chicken nuggets appetizer. This fake meat is so yummy, even meat eaters approve. Very Affordable! Closes at 10pm. Lunchtime is the best.

My friends and I usually forgo the line at Thai Tom for Veggie Veggie, and the food is much better and probably better for you. The people there are super nice, they give you a free miso soup bowl, and service is tremendously fast. As an omnivore, the fake meats kind of freak me out, but the tofu is good. It seems like they rely kind of heavily on sauces, but the veggies are so fresh and well-cooked that I don’t care! Veggie Veggie is good and totally hits the spot when I’m craving Thai food.

This place is awesome if you’re vegetarian and love great service. Everything I’ve had there is tasty and the portions are great. My personal recommendation is the sweet and sour. I’ve never had to wait long for an order, and the service is excellent(glass always filled with water, friendly staff). It’s also the least expensive thai restaurant I’ve been to. Yet another reason to check it out.

This is the first restaurant I ate it when I got to Seattle, and I was pleased with it. The building isn’t too big but It’s clean, friendly, fast, and yummy! It’s a good place to go if you’re hanging out in the U and you want to get your grub on for cheap.

Most of the time I have been a vegetarian, I have looked on faux meats with some distain. A vegetarian should not feel it necessary to pretend or apologize for what they eat. On the other hand, a person should not let such complexities drive them away from great tasting vegetarian food. The food at Veggie Veggie is outstanding, and very reasonably priced. It makes a great lunch or dinner. The quality is easily above what you would normally expect on the Ave(where grease and sugar reign supreme), with a nice dining experience.
