I brought my car to Vic’s shop because of his great Unilocal reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. As others have said, he does an excellent job and is very honest. My car needed 30K maintenance and a new battery, and because a few months ago another mechanic had told me I needed new belts and hoses but for some reason I found that suspicious, I asked Vic to check that out in particular. After looking everything over, he called me and said only the routine stuff needed to be done; as for the belts and hoses (which the other shop wanted to charge me $ 500 for), he said they were fine. So not only did he save me money by not doing unnecessary repairs, his final bill was otherwise also less than I had expected. At one point, I considered asking him if he was sure he was charging me enough, but then I came to my senses.
I also really liked that I dropped my car off at 9:30 in the morning and it was ready by 1:30. When I went to pick it up, he explained in detail what work had been done and for a couple of parts he’d replaced, he had even put aside the old ones to show to me. My car has been running great since he worked on it, and even though he mentioned that he washed the windows, I’m pretty sure he washed the whole car. I’ve lived only a few miles from his shop for years and I’m so mad at myself for not finding it sooner. Highly recommended.

Vic has been a life-​saver so many times for us. He’s very honest and always gives us great deals and advice. We bring our car here for everything and would highly recommend this business.

Hard working, honest, knowledgeable, competent. My sister was told that she needed new brakes, but when Vic looked at them he said the brakes were fine. I brought in my car to fix a rear view mirror. He did it for free!

These guys were the only ones who could figure out what was wrong with our 2000 Avalon. Bob Bridge Toyota tried to keep soaking us for more and more diagnostics and still couldn’t figure it out. One of the mechanics, David, never gave up. He took the time to really do some research, tried many different avenues, and soon found the solution. Our car is fixed, and we have been saved having to buy another car. Vic’s place and mechanics have a «down home» feel. They explain things in understandable terms, show professionalism and are very knowledgeable. I appreciate how they do not gouge their customers, are flexible, dependable and are easy to work with. Vic is, hand’s down, ten kinds of awesome. He’s honest, extremely competent and doesn’t try to upsell. I’ve gone to him for routine auto care, as well as tire checks and he’s friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable.
Cute side story: An elderly woman came to have her car serviced. He was not only polite and friendly, but offered to take her home so that she wouldn’t have to take the bus. How do you not love a mechanic who does that?

A friend of mine has been taking his and his wife’s car here for years. When I mentioned I needed a mechanic he recommended Vic’s without hesitation. He told me, «Vic is the last honest mechanic in Seattle», and he is right. I’ve gone there multiple times now and recommended Vic to other friends and neighbors who have all had positive experiences.

We brought our truck into Vick’s after it broke down on the I-​5. I read the reviews here and thought I’d give it a try. Vic was a great guy to work with, honest, and got our truck up and running on Monday (we had it towed there on Friday). He has been around since 1968 and says he loves what he does and it shows — honest guy, honest price, fast and good service — highly recommend it.

I just moved to Washington looking for a auto shop. I got recommended to Vic’s on Beacon Ave by some friends.
I have had my SUPER bad runs with auto shops and Vic is a good honest hard working man.
He took a look at my car, did the oil change I asked for and he honestly told me what was wrong with it and that he couldn’t fix it but referred me to another auto shop called Fosters that specializes in front end work.
He topped off all the fluids I had missing because my car was leaking and I didn’t notice it until I was half way up the block, but he also wiped down my interior and vacuumed it!

Points for an auto shop are awarded both for quality work and for treating young-​looking teacher chicks like real, intelligent human beings. Vic Oishi earns them all.
I’ve worked at the school across the street from Vic Oishi’s for seven years, and my co-​workers and I all love him. He’s always been really nice to me and my crappy cars. He lets us drop our cars off before school and have them all tuned up and happy by 3:15. «You work at the school?» he asks, and when we nod he knocks a few bucks off the price. He’s honest about what he can and can’t do («Your clutch is bad, but I can’t fix it here»). I’ve always been happy with the work he’s done.
When my husband and I went on vacation last week, we left his car with Vic with instructions to give it a tune-​up replace a bad tire, and do up to $ 500 more for anything else he found that it needed. E-​mail if it’s more, we told him. Call when you’re done.
Well, Vic never e-​mailed or called us (just as well, since we were in Beijing). In fact, he was closed at 4pm on Monday when we tried to pick it up, But when we finally went to get the car on Tuesday, he was all concerned: he’d done $ 560 worth of work (an axle was going, and a belt), but since we’d only approved $ 500, well, he’d only charge that much. He thought he only had $ 500 total, but he did what needed to be done.
My honest husband paid the full amount, but Vic has definitely earned our business. His son works with him now, and I only hope he’s just as nice … and maybe better at communication.
