I recently moved to the North Beach neighborhood and have been to Windy’s Barber Lounge three times, and have gotten a great cut every time. I am a happy regular customer and appreciate the consistency of good service. Thank you Windy!

Love this place. Windy is great, as a conversationalist and a barber. Always love her work, and appreciate the atmosphere created in this place. Totally reasonable pricing, especially in light of the service quality and attention.

Been almost 6 months and I’m still loving this place!
I can’t speak for Windy as she’s super busy (that’s because everyone loves her) but Marie has been killing it with her style. Each time is slightly different but still similar to how I want it. Highly recommend it, but plan at least a day or two ahead before the slots are booked.

Windy has been my barber for over two years now and she’s the best. I trust her so much that I really just let her lead on what my hair should look like and it always looks awesome.

I head to Windy’s Barber Lounge every month to see Marie. She always does a great job of helping me pick a hairstyle and executing a great cut. She also turned me onto some great product at a reasonable price — which I use daily. As if the combination of an outstanding cut and great product wasn’t enough, Marie is just really nice and fun to talk to while I am in the chair. I highly recommend this place, and especially Marie. Enjoy a drink while you wait, and say hi to the pup.

Good/​inexpensive haircut. Price is discounted if you have to get your look cleaned up frequently. Those with fast growing, thick Asian hair know what’s up.

I’ve been a regular for a few months now.
A quick note, for those who don’t like conversing during the cut, I would mention it at the beginning, otherwise you may have an accidental bad experience.

I am very averse to going out and getting my haircut, I’ve have a long string of awful experiences that keeps me scared off… so I tend to just keep it tied up and let it grow out. Lately it had been making me a bit sad, so after a great deal of over-​researching and analysis paralysis I chose this place which was both nearby and non-​threatening.
I got a walk-​in appointment. Easy-​peasy. Lady who cut my hair was very nice, very welcoming, soft-​spoken but making a lot of small talk. Generally I’m not into chit-​chat like that and so it was a tiny bit annoying to me, but I’m just an introvert and know I have to deal with that whole part of the haircut ordeal. So yeah… she was pleasant and helpful.
And did a great job on my hair! Yay! First time I’ve come out of a place in many years and not felt annoyed/​disappointed. Awesome job. And since it was technically just a long-​cut with a bit of layering it was only $ 35, from my research online I was prepared to be shocked with a $ 50+ bill. So double yay! Maybe now I’ll even consider getting it cut more often than once a year.

Meh, thought I was going to find a long term barber but I wasn’t overly impressed to return. The hair cut was decent but Marie talked A LOT. It was like we were playing 40 questions with no end goal. The setup was pretty nice and they are good about taking reservations/​appointments.

I’m so excited that I found this cute little shop in my neighborhood. Everyone was nice and the place has a chill vibe. Combine that with a fantastic haircut at an affordable price and we have a winner. Love it!

Every time I leave Windy’s, I leave impressed. If there was anything you didn’t like about your last cut, she makes sure she knows about it and it will never happen again. She’s the first barber that I’ve had who really understands hair and keeps an open line of communication during the cut, making sure to gather your input as she goes.
I couldn’t recommend this place more!

I’ve always wanted to get my haircut by a barber, but was worried that I would feel out of place as a femme who nonetheless wants a butch haircut (not something I assume most barbers are going to really understand, though I could be wrong). One day I was walking by and noticed Windy’s shop and it looked promising, especially after checking out all the 5-​star reviews. Those reviews are legit! I’ve gotten probably a dozen cuts from Windy and they were all perfect. She is not only intuitive, but she takes the time to figure out what you want with zero judgement. I was previously paying over $ 70 at Vain and getting treated like garbage for not being cool enough for them. In contrast, you can walk into Windy’s and be treated like family.
Everyone who has ever cut my hair has had a really hard time understanding what I mean by saying some variance of «I want my hair to scream ‘queer’ even if the rest of me doesn’t,» but Windy got it. She let me show her some pictures of what I wanted and talked it out with me. Every hair stylist I’ve ever tried that with has looked at the pictures and then did what they think looks best on me instead, which sometimes works out but usually just means I look 20 years older. Instead, Windy gives me exactly what I ask for, but better, because she thinks one or two haircuts ahead and will let you know if she thinks a different approach will serve you better.
She understands hair more than anyone I’ve ever met, so her haircuts grow out really well. Her prices are great, which makes it easy to go in frequently to have everything cleaned up, but it’s nice to not have to go in just because my hair is growing out weird. Her skill is evident four weeks after a haircut, not just 4 days after.

Windy’s a magician, love her! I have followed her from Wallingford and been a client for the past 3+ years. No one can cut my hair as good as Windy. I have some grey hair on the sides. I call them my racing stripes. Windy knows how to cut the grey so it lays down nicely. Look no further and be happy that you have found the best. (~Tony)

I’m new to the area and had been to a few different places looking for «the one» in terms of where I could get my hair cut. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past which resulted in having to shave my head so this has always been kind of important to me. Some of the other places I’d been to did a mediocre job and I always had random stray hairs sticking out the sides of my head. To give them some credit, I consider my hair to be kind of difficult to cut since I have really thick asian hair that just grows straight out on the side. Nonetheless, it’s always kind of a pain to get home only to see those random stray hairs poking out of the sides of your head and you have to end up doing this weird motion of trying to trim it off yourself while looking in a mirror.
Anyway, I finally found this place and saw the amazing reviews and figured I would give them a visit. To keep it short, I’ve been back a few times now and I feel like my haircuts have been progressively getting better. A huge thanks to Marie for being able to piece together what I wanted based on my very vague description of what I wanted. Marie has been the one to cut my hair since my first visit and the overall cut and experience has been better with each visit. She worked with me and with each successive visit; improved upon the previous iteration of my haircut till it came out exactly how I wanted it.
Even though Windy’s is about 30 minutes away from my place, I will gladly make the trip every time since I haven’t found any better. Plus, they have parking which is awesome!
Oh, and they do maintenance cuts! Short-​haired people rejoice!

I was a little skeptical walking into a barber shop that looked like someones house, but Marie’s and Windys attention to detail really sold the place.
One day after being pestered constantly about my shaggy head I looked up the closest place on Unilocal,walked in, sat down and Marie knew how to deliver. After giving this place a chance I got a sense of the «homey» vibe and I definitely would come back!

I was thrown off a bit when I walked in and they asked if I had a reservation. I’m used to barber shops where you wait. However, this isn’t a bad thing; I’ve had to wait an hour and a half at other shops, and this style clears things up.
I had called ahead to ask if Windy was in today (I am used to barbers being closed on Mondays, or at least the main barber being out), so the person who had answered could have asked me if I wanted to make an appointment, but she didn’t.
When my time to get cut arrived, Windy was still taking care of another customer, so I got Marie. No offense intended, but she asked lots of questions that turned out to be pointless, mainly because she wasn’t listening. I’d much rather get my cut in silence than have to deal with incessant questioning that feigns conversation, but makes no attempt for connection.
I usually wait until the day after the cut to make a decision on it, but I can see pretty well that it’s fine. The $ 25 price tag is pretty steep though for a fade and slight trim. I’m used to paying $ 15. I also usually get a straight razor edging for that price, this was just clippers.
As I’m writing this, Marie actually came out to the lot to check with me to make sure the cut was ok. That’s definitely appreciated.
The lounge aspect is cute, but needless when the shop is on an appointment schedule (totally just my opinion, of course). The new exterior paint job is great, as is the unique building. The interior palette is odd, but not distracting.
Next time I’ll make an appointment with Windy and update the review if need be.

Windy is cool. But NEVER let the Filipino girl cut your hair!
Keep asking me random questions while I am tired of answering. She even asked me the same question twice. When I said I don’t like the way my hair looked, she said she didn’t have time to adjust it for me otherwise she would charge me for extra fee. Not what I want at all.

Nice little shop clean and cozy. The staff are very friendly. I found it easy to carry out a conversation with Marie. She did an awesome job on my hair and beard it looks great. I was a little nervous as I have had the same person doing my hair sence I got out of the army. She did exactly what I wanted and agian it looks awesome.

As far as a male haircut experience goes (can’t speak for the ladies), it could not have been better! Super friendly, did great work on my thinning hair that I never quite know what to do with, and even offered me a beer upon arrival!!!
Plus, it’s walking distance from my house… probably doesn’t help a lot of you but wow– great news for me!

I won’t go to anyone else to get my hair cut. Windy has been my barber for over a year. I am so glad she finally has her own place now! The atmosphere is that of a classic barber shop, offering coffee and other beverages, even beer! She has an awesome setup for when you’re waiting for your turn to get a cut. She has video games like pacman and a classic atari system and a sega genesis to keep you occupied if you arrive early!
Windy is great. She always gives me the best cut and works with me to figure out exactly what I want my hair to look like as I often do style changes. I just got a style change this last Saturday and I love it! Windy is awesome to chat with while getting my hair cut and I recommend her to ALL my friends!
