What a great little café for some delicious Chinese cuisine. They’ve been in the neighborhood for almost 10 years. Fei, the owner’s brother, is always very helpful in picking out their specialties. The place is always clean and well kept. You never have to wait long for your food. The pot stickers were delish and not greasy, like they are served at other places. Fei was so nice to make a few Mu Shu rolls for me, right there at the table. He was always stopping by to see if I needed more tea, water or rolls. I am still amazed at how generous the portions are with such a small bill. A must stop when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of University Village(less than a mile away).

A hidden gem. Kind and fast service. Good for all visits of all types. The atmosphere is chill and it is nestled in a great locale, with ample parking space to the right of the restaurant and a grocery store adjacent perfect to send your teens off to after they finish eating first. It is also extremely hygienic with quality, private bathrooms in comparison to other asian style restaurants.

I’ve been here 6 or 7 times, always against my will. Just doesn’t taste good to me. Also, somehow the interior is askew, floor tilted, pictures rakishly angled, corners not square, an impression of general yellow-green lighting. Friendly service, often quick, easy parking, at least. While I’m nit-picking, the nearby corner with Sandpoint Way is the slowest intersection I know. For some reason, my wife keeps insisting on the wonton soup from time to time, at least I don’t overeat.

Great prices for super fresh food. I had a southwestern wrap on a wheat tortilla that was delicious filled with tofu, avocado, cilantro and tomatoes. The atmosphere is simple, nothing fancy but they offer a healthy vibrant food selection. I would definitely go back!

Best sweet and sour chicken! Love the Singaporean noodles. Service is always great! Try the lunch specials, great variety and the food tastes fresh.

The noodles were really oily and the ‘szechuan’ beef didn’t taste anything like it should. I live close by so I gave it a try, but I won’t be back.

Awesome service and awesome food. I ordered Singapore noodles and asked for it to be very spicy, it was very spicy. In my experience, that rarely happens in Seattle. We have gone back and will go back again and again.

I’ll add this to the list of subpar Chinese restaurants in Seattle that I won’t be going back to. I’ll start with the positives. Delivery service was prompt, I could pay by credit card at my front door rather than give my card number over the phone, and none of the food was inedible. Now the negatives. All the dishes we ordered(potstickers, chicken fried rice, pork chow fun, kung pao chicken) were bland and forgettable. Most of the food looked pale and anemic. The fried rice in particular showed almost no signs of actually being fried, and the vegetables that came with it looked like what you’d get from a bag of Birds Eye frozen mixed vegetables. I’ve lived in NE Seattle for nearly a year, and I’m still trying to find a good Chinese restaurant. So far the current leader is the Panda Express in Northgate Mall, and that fact is very disappointing.

I haven’t been to Yummy Café so I can’t speak much for the dine-in experience, but their delivery service has always been punctual and I’ve never been disappointed with my food. I’ll be calling them again in the near future!

The very friendly staff who work here make it a pleasant little lunch spot. They are quick and relatively cheap. I have tried the mongolian beef and the combo beef, chicken, and prawn stir fry. All in all it has been just OK both times I have been. Although it was a bit on the heavy side, it was still lacking in flavor. If you’re in the area and are looking for some general Americanized Chinese food, give it a try.

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurant that I get take-out from. I’ve bought from here multiple times and just decided to pop into Unilocal to check out the reviews. Am surprised that they only have 3.5 stars? They deserve more stars! Today I got the mu Shu veg; egg plant with mince meat; yang chow fried rice. Every dish was delicious! This is not an American Chinese restaurant. It’s a Chinese restaurant with some American Chinese dishes.

Family owned and operated. Sweet little place with great food. The place is clean, friendly and we go often as its within walking distance. The food is consistently good, the people working there are charming. The Salt and Pepper tofu is a favorite and until I tried theirs, I hated tofu. The veggies are crisp and bright. The sauces are not thick and gross. I highly suggest giving this place a try.

Location is best for me to get quick take out. The food was good but not amazing by any stretch of the imagination. Hot and sour soup was tasty but needed more seasoning. The Kung Pao was a bit bland and oily. Really nothing wrong but the food just wasn’t that tasty.

I’m a bit baffled as to why people like it as much as they do. It sort of has all of the bad attributes of Chinese restaurants while not really providing the main draw of Chinese joints the world over: cheap and delicious food. I would venture to say that the meat/starch ratio of the Beef with Broccoli were unbalanced at maybe 20⁄80 in favor of the veggies to the meat(tofu being included as part of the veggies). This was part of the«dinner for two». The egg drop soup was one of the worst I’ve ever had, we probably ate 1⁄3 of it(and this is coming from a guy that always finishes his food at whatever cost to his own future belly-aching self) and the egg rolls were terribly crunchy and not in that delicious fried kind of way. Maybe I’m crazy cause I’m Korean and not Chinese but man, wtf with not including any white rice. Who eats fried meats and all with no rice or noodles? That’s nuts to me. As if providing white rice is such an expense for your restaurant…

My family really likes Yummy Café. We’ve held multiple family events here so far. I don’t interact with the staff much but obviously we don’t mind them since we keep coming back. We often order their hot pots, the moo shu chicken, honey walnut prawns, the stir fried fish, & the Singapore noodles. The food we receive is consistently good and flavorful. My favorite dish here is the Singapore noodles. The restaurant is small @ there is parking on the street.

Seriously? I can’t believe all the reviews before me. I honestly would rather eat at the Safeway/QFC Deli. The BF comes here ALL the time because of the nice staff. I came here once w him and I refused to go back again. EVER. The food is really badm, i am not sure what kind of food it is but it is definitely not Chinese food. Came here for lunch, I can’t speak on behalf of the price cause I didn’t pay nor did I bother to look at the check since the best part of my lunch was the fortune cookie. Anyways, I ordered chow mein and BF ordered spicy beef(?). I tasted nothing but soy sauce. yuck. sorry super nice staff there, you’ve been betrayed by the«Chinese Food»

For a Chinese takeout place, I’m going to say this deserves 5 stars. Their Chow Fun is delicious, as is their sweet and sour chicken. I had been eating Snappy Dragon, and since htey are closed, was forced to try Yummy Café. So happy I did. This is my new go to! Highly recommend.

This place is so overpriced for the quality. I ordered springs rolls, kung pao shrimp, and rice. The spring rolls were pretty good. Crunchy with a decent flavor. However, the sweet and sour tasted like it came out of some box. The kung pao shrimp was very bland. It had no flavor. Also, for nearly $ 14, I think I should get more than 5 shrimp. Sad to say it, but I’ve had fast food Chinese that was better. Service was good. The family that runs the restaurant was accommodating and friendly. It’s disappointing that this place isn’t better.

No words can accurately describe how horrendous this food was. My friend and I were recording music in his apartment and needed some sustenance delivered to keep us powering through. Snappy Dragon doesn’t open ’till 4, so we decided on Slummy Café. Since I had never eaten there before I decided to go with a typically safe dish — broccoli chicken. My friend got kung pao chicken and potstickers. We threw away the entire order of broccoli chicken. Here are some of my buddy’s(very accurate) quotes describing the dish: ‘It tastes like the smell after someone lights off a firework” «I think someone might have peed on the broccoli.» We managed to sort of pick through the kung pao, but it was bland and joyless. The potstickers were literally scary to eat. They made wet gurgling sounds when bit into and would send oil squirting out in all directions. Worst $ 40 I’ve ever spent… Save yourself and wait for Snappy Dragon to open. Trust me.

Seattle has no shortage of Chinese restaurants, but you will be hard pressed to remember many by name let alone be in a hurry to return I got a place for Mongolian Chicken, another for Mongolian Beef and another for Almond Chicken. You end up going from place to place to piece together a meal, because no one spot appears to be able to do an entire menu well. This was my 1st trip to Yummy Café and I have to say, after eating here, it’s obvious why the Asian people bow to each other. This was so remarkably amazing that I am going to return as soon as possible. The hot and sour soup was fragrant and flavorful. The Potstickers were thick, rich and hearty and the 5 star Mongolian beef had a zesty kick that let you know these folks aren’t changing their recipe for the westernized world. The spot isn’t big enough for you to hold an event and parking is pretty much a nightmare, but I promise you this, you will not regret putting something Yummy in your tummy! A true hidden gem worthy of your last dime.
