Doug is absolutely amazing! I showed up a little past my start time and I still feel I received the whole experience. He first took the time to hear me out and explain his technique and what he offers. After listening to me he was able to sum up what I needed in my massage. This was the best therapeutic massage I’ve ever experienced. His pressure was perfect! Not too soft not too hard and he relieved ever «knot» around my shoulder without, as he puts it,“biting the leather.” While he worked his magic he shared his knowledge of how I can learn to release the tension myself on a daily bases by breathing and correcting my walk. I felt like he really listened to me and was in tune to the tension in my muscles. After getting up from the amazing two hour massage I felt like a huge weight was lifted from my body! I’m definitely going back, and I highly recommend him. He knows what he’s doing and has 30+ years and a wall full of certificates to prove it.

Doug is an amazing bodyworker. His hands are like butter. I’ve gone to him 4 or 5 times the past month. His rates are extremely reasonable and his heart is really in his work. He really cares and is skilled. I like his draping… He’s also a cool guy, easy to talk to and is open hearted. Love him!

Douglas knows the human body. If you want to have body work done by someone who clearly knows what they are doing he’s the guy for you!

I met Douglas last week for a body tuning session. My sciatic was acting up and I had pain in my mid-​back and neck as well. We discussed my history at length and he felt he could help correct my problems. He is a very spiritual person, well informed, a healer with great technique like I’ve never experienced before. The session was successful at alleviating my pain symptoms, although it took a couple days to recover from the deep tissue work, which was little price to pay! I highly recommend Douglas, just wish he was closer!

Douglas is a wonderful practitioner with great hands-​on therapeutic skills, who also is generous in assessing and sharing considerable insights as to what you are needing for your optimum health. He is very present and focused, and I felt very balanced physically and energetically after our session.

Best bodywork I have ever experienced. Douglas is skilled and intuitive with his hands. I make it a point to see him once or twice a month. He really keeps me aligned and healthy.
He’s friendly, professional, intelligent, intuitive, and very caring. Douglas spends so much time with you during the session (usually around 2 hrs). And his prices are amazingly affordable. He even offers a sliding scale based upon what you can afford.
He also has great flexible hours of availability. He is available for sessions after regular «work hours» and even on weekends. His schedule is great for me since I have busy work-​weeks and it isn’t feasible for me to get bodywork done mid-​day (a lot of places have their last appt at 4pm). No matter what, he always finds a way to schedule my session at a time that works for me.
I recommend him to anyone. He’s fantastic!

Douglas is a compassionate and gentle soul and healer. His Skype sessions have been wonderful opportunities to explore questions and areas of my life in a safe environment. Douglas is truly Amazing!!! You have to make an appointment with him. You will not be sorry. He assesses you and then starts in on the body. I met Douglas years ago at Osmosis in Freestone and followed him since. He knows exactly what he is doing. What Western Medicine doesn’t do, he does it without drugs. He knows the body. Douglas is more then a massage therapist. He truly knows what he is doing. If you have pain, structural problems, or stuckness in energy, difficulty walking, whatever it is that keeps you from feeling fully energetic, or moving freely, he can help your body be more flexible, experience less pain, and have way more energy. He is very experienced and intuitive, and truly a master at what he is doing. He has allround knowledge of various types of massage.
I know that massages with Douglas Canier can be a life transforming experience. He knows mfr, so he can help you with old stuck places. He has great knowledge of how the body moves, so he can help you be more flexible. It feels as if all body parts fall into place after a massage with him.

Highly recommended! Doug is a miracle worker, plain and simple. He’s truly the gold standard for a massage therapist. He was my assigned therapist when he was working at a Calistoga Spa 8 years ago. I had never been to a spa or had a massage before, and it was like fate intervened and gave me the best therapist EVER. All subsequent other massages with other therapists fail in comparison (and yes, that includes Burke Williams, and Nob Hill Spa and any other hoity toity place where you are paying more for the ambiance than a good massage). I try to go back once in a while since his office is quite a drive.
He tackles any problem areas with the skill of a therapist that has been working for years (of which he has 30+ years) and approaches a massage not in the traditional sense but in a very spiritual and elemental way – body healing is a good way to describe it. He works with a gamut of clients which include regular folks and those that have acute pain /​arthritis issues, and just has an innate knowledge of what is needed to bring pain relief and to make you feel better. It is a delight to meet a person who is kindhearted and an amazing healer. Not only that, he let’s you pay based on a sliding scale. He is about getting a good result rather than getting a paycheck. He’s the real deal – and I now I just let my best kept secret out.
