Laguna Farms is the reason my kids eat vegetables! They really got the idea behind Community Supported Agriculture when I explained it to them and made a commitment to eat local and fresh! We have had a weekly box at Laguna for more than 5 years. We had tried several CSAs over the years, but the inability to control what you get always led to too much of some things and not enough of others. If you pick up your box at Laguna you can trade items for other produce and make your box work for you. We pick up our box on Tuesdays and then build our week’s menu around what we pick up. It is a lot of vegetables and a great value. You will find yourself eating more vegetables than you used to. They’re always super friendly and helpful, and I often find myself having a conversation while I’m picking up. They are also a cornerstone of the community, promoting and organizing local events. If you’re ready to make the commitment to local, fresh produce, which, like all CSAs, will probably require you to make some beneficial changes to your current menu planning, you can’t do better than Laguna Farms!

This review is specifically about the CSA box. I have been a member of Laguna Farm off and on since 2007. Right now I receive the $ 27CSA box that is delivered to my door every Tuesday(I live in Santa Rosa) I cannot say how easy it is now that Laguna is fully online to both join, edit, and suspend membership. I LOVE that I am supporting a local farm and that I can have it delivered because with a baby and a full time job I just wouldn’t have time to do my shopping at a farmers market as I would like! A typical box we receive is: salad greens(always), a bunch of kale or bag of spinach or sautée green mix, a bunch of carrots, lemons, and broccoli. I try very hard to turn as much of what I get every week into baby food because I know my son will grow healthy with such tasty veggies! Sometimes I do feel like certain items can be a little skimpy(IE2 small red potatoes or 1 lemon) but overall I feel like local, organic, and tasty all outweigh that sometime annoyance. My favorite is when I get special treats like brown rice or apple juice in the veggie box. Yum! Thank you Laguna for a great CSA! You are truly a community asset.

A true asset to West Sonoma County. They grow great produce. No, it’s not cheaper than the supermarket, but that’s a small premium to know where your food comes from and know that it’s the best quality available. They have a great produce exchange policy that I’ve never seen in another CSA, and have consistently accommodated my inconsistent schedule. They also have a good assortment of goods not grown on their farm — and always have some extra fruit grown locally, like Healdsburg pomegranates, Sebastopol apples or Meyer lemons from someone’s backyard. In regard to the other reviewers mentioning bad customer service — I’ve honestly only ever received great customer service. But even if people have had some less than stellar experiences, one has to understand that this is a working farm and everyone there is very busy and all are juggling multiple hats at any given moment. That’s what a working farm looks like. I took an entire cooler full of produce down to Southern California for Thanksgiving and cooked many of the dishes using only their ingredients. Everyone loved the food, and to be able to make the connection to their food, was truly something to be thankful for in this day and age. So if you’re looking for the cheapest produce, Laguna Farm isn’t for you. If you’re looking for high-quality produce and a place where you know the people behind the counter, you should really pay them a visit.

Laguna Farms CSA boxes seemed like a great idea. For the price of twenty dollars one can drive to the farm and pick up fresh local veggies. For an extra seven dollars they can add on fruit. I thought this seemed like a great idea and after talking on the phone with one of the workers there I signed up. They assured me that the only complaint they ever get is «too much food.» I will give them some more complaints. On the first day I was supposed to pick up my box I got an email recommending I come in after one so I can get a tour of the farm and explained how everything works. Although this time did not work very well into my schedule for the day I really wanted a tour of the farm, so I made it work. Upon arriving I came into the building and noticed two other families milling about. They have other fresh veggies and products to buy inside the building that these families were looking at. I couldn’t tell exactly who was a worker, so I asked one lady, what exactly do I do? I told her I was told to come at one for a tour of the farm. Instead of being kind and welcoming, she snarled at me and said«I guess I can do that.» Like she was so overwhelmed by the other two families in there. Her help was pathetic. She showed me where my box was, did not show me where bags were for my veggies, where to put my box when I was done… nothing. She mentioned if I wanted to switch out anything I could, but didn’t tell me how or with what. I went through my stash, I noticed there was only a small amount of fruit. I told her I added on the fruit share, to which she said«Yeah. So that’s in there.» No customer service was provided by her. I left pretty upset, but decided I would try one more time. This past week, the service was again, useless. I’m not sure why the workers here decide to act like everyone should know everything about the boxes and how they work. My boyfriend didn’t know where to put the box after he was done removing all the veggies and again meager amount of fruit, so he set it on a nearby table. One of the workers ran over and said«They don’t go here, they go over there» pointing to a corner of the store. Alright, that would of been nice to know the first day we came! I appreciate her explaining how the store works, but that should of been explained the first day. The fruit and veggies here unfortunately are disappointing. They are overpriced and sub-par. The fruit has stickers that one would see inside a grocery store, so I know it isn’t grown on Laguna Farm. Nothing tasted so incredible that it could make up for the lack of customer service. I noticed a good amount of the produce goes bad quickly, like within one to two days. I also found it annoying that we had no say in what goes into our CSA boxes. One week we were given a huge bunch of basil, cauliflower and green onions. Not much to work with for a weeks worth of produce. It would be nice if you could give suggestions to what you like. When I said that that to the worker on the first day she snapped back«that’s impossible. We had 500 people getting our boxes.» Alright, I’m sure it wouldn’t be easy, but I also am sure it’s not impossible. Laguna Farms has a great idea with CSA boxes but has no idea how to execute them properly. I will not being supporting them any longer and am sad to see 60 dollars of mine be thrown out on just OK produce.

Laguna Farm is wonderful for a number of good reasons: 1. Good value for the money, so don’t think it’s expensive. 2. Produce is fresh, not overripe, great condition, delicious(noticeably different from grocery store). Lasts 2 weeks in my fridge. 3. EASYONLINE account maintenance! You choose box frequency, add contents and change any of those options online. They charge your card weekly(or whatever frequency, I do every other week) instead of hundreds up front for the season. 4.They maintain relationships with other farms to keep variety, and are transparent about where each item comes from if not from their farm. 5. Great responsive customer service when I have questions. I’ve been a member for 2 years. I pick up at the farm(worth 20 minutes of my time every 2 weeks) so I can’t speak to drop sites, but I highly recommend their CSA membership to anyone who’s even curious about it. They make it so easy and enjoyable. And we definitely eat more vegetables now and enjoy them.

When I first moved to Sonoma county I searched for a neighborhood CSA to patron. I couldn’t ask for better than Laguna Farm. The bounty is big and the price is excellent. Less than $ 20 for a week’s worth of locally grown veggies that feeds 2 adults very well. Bye bye Whole Paycheck! I visited the store at the farm shortly after signing up and they already knew my name, with NO introductions needed. Everyone there has been genuinely friendly and they don’t mind when I occasionally call at 8:59am on Monday to request that my box be saved and not donated because I forgot to pick it up in time. :) Communication is great and I have had all of my emails and phone calls returned in a timely manner. This is a real, working farm where everyone is busy on the land, not sitting around at the computer or phone. I have been a member for over two years and I still look forward to picking up my box every week.

I really loved my Laguna Farms subscription. The produce was fresh and beautiful –far superior than any given store. I loved knowing it was local. The newsletter offered great recipes. And they deliver to my house! I would give five stars, but I’ve had a difficult time getting them to stop the service. While I love the service, it’s a lot of food and I find myself not eating it all… It’d be helpful to me if they had a monthly service.

Thank you for 15 years of beautiful produce Laguna Farm! If you want fresh from the farm produce become a Laguna Farm member. The prices are comparable to Whole Foods and often lower. But it’s not the cheapest price I’m looking for in food for my family, it’s clean, fresh picked, local produce and that’s what I get as a Laguna Farm member. In addition to top quality produce Laguna Farm has a farm ‘store’ manned by our beloved ‘Kelly’. The new owners, Jennifer and Nacho have got things running pretty seamlessly. I always look forward to our trips to the farm and chatting with our farm ‘family’. Love you guys!

WHOA! Great disappointment… liked the concept, but the value for the price of membership just isn’t there. The business end seems disorganized and emails are only answered once a week… but beyond that, you’re better off buying organic produce from Whole Foods. And Buyer Beware… a very pricey membership deposit that you won’t get returned should you decide to cancel, as I did, within just two weeks… they should at least offer a trial period. BUMMER all around!

I started buying organic produce here a while ago. It’s actually a really neat concept. –You become a member of the farm. it’s kind of like a subscription… and you basically get a tub of fresh *beyond organic* veggies once a week. You can also get other things there too… extra fruits and veggies, organic bread, free range organic eggs, herbs, nuts, and other stuff… I love the flavor of the food. It actually does make a difference. I don’t think it’s the *organic* part, so much as the locally grown and picked fresh… that makes it taste so good. I like the concept of investing in community based agriculture. Actually eating something that is grown in your area, and is organic, and supports(e-gads! .A REALFARM! .In AMERICA!!) I also like the sense of community coming together to make this happen. All in all. Laguna Farm Rocks! .Oh and if you’re into organic. this is an excellent way to go. It’s much cheaper buying it directly from the farm, then going to places like Whole Foods.
