Memorable wines– we had the pleasure of trying their wines at Relish Culinary cooking school in healdsburg for A Unilocal Event. Jim was an excellent host. The wines have great nose and flavor wow! They use quality processing with some new french oak and the sur lie ageing. The price points are reflective of this defiantly worth buying for a special occasion.

This is a review for the wines but not the tasting room. I haven’t been there yet but did go to a Unilocal Elite event today where they were pouring two pinot’s from this winery and well, they were really really good. So yes, i will go to the tasting room for more many thanks!

Had a great experience here. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and you can tell they loved their product(and rightfully so). 3 of us walked in and sat down, and through the conversation with our hostess we told her that 2 of us worked in the wine industry. They opened other wines not on the normal tasting and asked what we thought of everything. They waived the tasting fee for all 3 of us even though only 2 were in the industry, and we just had a really lovely time. Great spot!

What is not to love?!! We sat outside on a sunny winter day and enjoyed some beautiful wines — I’d say definitely some of the best Pinot’s in the area. The tasting room is thoughtfully decorated and truly represents the history of the wine, including a tower sculpture made out of radio flyer wagons — ask them about the fun story behind the origin of the label! Definitely worth the visit — go enjoy some top scoring chard and pinots at this quaint spot in the Barlow.

Arrogant. $ 20 tasting fee is high. No industry courtesy tasting. Terrible service and attitude. We walked out.

30 city planners raided this place yesterday while checking out the barlow. The tour arranged for us to taste 2 of their wines and the chardonnay and pinot were both amazing. The Radio Flyer tower was so cool. We had 10 extra minutes to wander and I knew that was plenty of time to do the real tasting. Brad poured for me and still managed to tell me about each wine with my short amount of time. He knows his wine. The Pinot got better and better, especially the one from Anderson Valley.

So sorry we waited until the last day to visit. Wish it was first and we would have seen what a great area Barlow was. Upon walking up we were created right away, asked how we heard of Macphail, I said who ever is doing the Instagram of social media got me here. Great tasting experience, no wine club but joined mailing list and took a few bottles with us. Can’t wait to come back.

Jim is the best tasting host! The wines are fantastic — James MacPhail has made it an educational pursuit to match clones and rootstock to amazing vineyard locations. Great stuff

As good as it gets — perfect way to describe the wine, the room, the people, and the location in-general. Fantastic place — if you’re a pinot noir lover, you’ve come to the right joint. Whether you’re an «expert» or new to tasting wines, the folks at Macphail are there to provide you a good, honest, and comfortable experience. Been a fan of their wine for a long time, now a fan of their new tasting room. HIGHLY recommend.

Had a wonderful tasting here on a quiet Monday. Philippe was extremely informative and engaging. I brought my mom and her boyfriend here, who aren’t very wine-savvy, and they left having learned a thing or two, but without being talked down to. The newish tasting room in The Barlow is warm, yet modern. They use good-quality glassware, and provide nibbles for between wines. They have a nice corner spot in this complex for people-watching, and a comfy lounging area inside. Superb Pinot Noir – if you’re looking for a variety of styles/places of origin, you will find them here. ps Jim-who manages-is one of the nicest gentlemen you will ever meet. Really.

MacPhail’s Pinot Noir’s are sensational. My husband and I splurge on them for special occasions when dining out. We came in to visit the new tasting room in The Barlow, pick up a case I’d ordered a while back… Had a tasting of course… And left with several more bottles, I didn’t know just How many extraordinary Pinots MacPhail produced! We had the pleasure of meeting Jim, the tasting room manager, who was very friendly, really took his time with us, gave generous pours, and shared a wealth of information. We sat in the corner of their small, but tasteful room, by an interesting display of soil from the vineyards terroir. I’m anxious to come back and share this distinguished wine makers pinot with guests who will appreciate their variety and remarkable quality.
