I don’t care how many stars others have left I love this place

Sushi had a limited Nigiri menu. Got the all you can eat. HUGE mistake. The last roll had a smell of death coming off of it. I was about to DARE the guy who made the sushi to try it but didn’t want to embarrass him. They watched us like hawks to make sure we ate ALL of our sushi, but managed to get that last roll to the bathroom. Thank God! Will never go there again. Lesson learned.

The décor has improved, ceiling to floor drapes separating the tables into undulating booths without the sense of confinement. The music– jazz mixed with some easy listening adds to the romantic atmosphere– we three women diners did not feel out of place, though, just each planning ahead for anniversary dinners, etc! The waiter was pleasant and attentive enough(we were the only diners at mid-afternoon on a Saturday except for take-out folks). The $ 7.95 lunches are a bargain-miso, rice, salad, and two entrees. We each ordered the veggie and shrimp tempura– excellent lightness, generous amounts, but the dipping sauce was watery, no other way to describe it. Also the rice was damp, and the rice in the very good tuna handroll, the spicy tuna roll and the Godzilla roll was also NOT properly prepared sushi rice. Not sticky. Notable that this seems to be happening all over Sonoma County sushi restaurants… The salad was mixed greens, large portion but again not well drained so water diluted the dressing(which was some modified ranch dressing. We could have given 5 stars for the entrees and service and décor, but the sides brought it way down. It STILLIS A BARGAIN– ANENJOYABLEEATERY– ANDPROBABLYONEOFTHEBESTINSEBASTOPOL…

Walked in, walked out. The place was hot as hell’s kitchen & the waitress was about as friendly as a cobra. We both got a bad vibe about the place. Instinct told me not to spend my hard earned cash here. We went to Sushi Tozai which is soooooo much better, GOTHERE.

I would suggest taking a date there for a romantic evening. small place, but nicely decorated. It’s great to go to a Sushi place where the chef is friendly and creative. Where they do extra stuff for you, without reason. The chef is a professional Chinese Opera singer as well. I’ve been here many times and am allways amazed at Ensins work. he loves to turn your meal into a work of art. Try it and see. and dont bye into these haters that are obviously Anti Tosaki, they probably are friends of the other Sebastopol sushi place. Sushi Chef Ensin, is a good big hearted guy who loves trying new things and loves metting new faces. He perfect for Sebastopol area. a real Gem of a man.

My daughter and I have been here a couple times now and have had good experiences every time. The food delicious and they are very friendly. The only thing I could complain about is the sushi chef uses a lot of sauces on everything. They are very tasty, but they seem to be on every dish. I’d rather taste the fish, not the sauce. Would and will definitely go back and recommend to others. It’s easy to miss though. Tucked away behind McDonald’s in a strip mall. But all you can eat on Tuesdays and Saturdays(we still have yet to do this).

i’m reviewing this place solely on the sushi… i’ve eaten at a LOT of sushi places in san diego, orange county, LA, and the bay — this place is my favorite… super fresh and so clean clean, & i don’t feel sick afterwards… i always do the all you can eat and it satisfies my craving every time… lotta’ options and you can even create your own roll if it isn’t too busy… see if they’ll make you a Dennis roll(not on the menu — crab, shrimp tempura, and tuna) and Dennis sauce(not on the menu — a spicy sirachi like sauce)…deeeelicious

For our first visit at Tosaki, I must say that ITWASNOTGOOD. But, I am only rating them based on items we ordered. The chicken teriyaki dinner for my daughter was soaked in teriyaki sauce that was very salty. The chicken was way overcooked, slightly burnt, dry, and hard. My wife’s lion king roll was okay, but for thw price, I would expect more… but maybe i’m used to paying a little less being from the greater bay area. Our tempura udon was okay. The soup base was good, but there was a lot of extra ingredients that I was not used to seeing when ordering the same dish elsewhere. Summary: Chickem teriyaki — 1 star Lion King roll — 3 stars Tempura Udon — 2.5 stars

Decided to try this place out for the«All-You-Can-Eat SUSHI». So we came in on a Friday and their all-you-can-eat is only on Tuesday’s and Saturdays but they gave it to us anyways, so that was a plus! There prices are $ 23.99 per person, that’s an average price for all-you-can-eat sushi. Now the sushi’s, we ordered the Golden Bridge, that was good, Godzilla, that was okay, Spicy Lion King, that was good, Philadelphia, average, and we ordered 4 other sushi rolls that I can’t remember, but 8 total sushi rolls for the two of us was more than enough. So here is why I gave them 5 stars, best All-You-Can-Eat SUSHI in Sonoma County, their Sushi is not the best that I’ve had but good enough for me to come back to, and bring some friends, especially if you have a Sushi craving and don’t want to drive an hour or two to have Sushi buffet, then this is the place for you Sonoma Countians.

I don’t know what all you haters are talking about this place was a really chill spot for sushi. The portions were perfect the sushi had excellent presentation and you could tell the chef took his time. Me and my girlfriend did the all you can eat sushi which had a wide variety of choices. I like this place way more than sushihana due to the fact a Japanese chef actually prepared the sushi rolls and not some punk 16 year old redneck. In my opinion the food is better at Tosaki and the Saki menu was pretty good aswell. Our waiter was on it every time we needed something. We have now made that our place to go once a month for sushi.

Why post times that you are open if you AREN’T going to open? We got there at 15 minutes after noon and there was not a soul around inside as we peered into the place. After reading the reviews, I should be glad we missed it :)

Let me set the stage. Wed night, 6:15. 1 Customer in the aforementioned strip mall, I had a high school basketball game to attend at 7 and was looking forward to trying the new spot out. My 1st rule, don’t go into a empty Sushi spot at dinnertime, I ignored it, cause that 1 customer that is a old family friend I haven’t seen in 2 years, and he used to be a good judge of sushi. So I joined him and we caught up. I ordered a Spider Roll and a spicy tuna roll. Prices were expensive 6.95 and 9.95 I believe. But not overly so. I saw many 10 – 14 dollar rolls on the menu. The service was shocking slow for a empty rest. I had to get up to grab my own set up which some how she missed. I understand that traditional Japanese service is non obtrusive. But that’s AFTER you get what you need, not before you order. Before I get to the never come back here, the positives. Friendly if inept service. Nice décor for a strip mall across from McDonald’s, Beautiful presentation on the Spider roll, what with the plating and the green squiggles and all. The tuna roll was terrible. I’ve eaten at Buffet sushi in my past and it wasn’t worse, but dammmmmn. Ice cold pureed tuna, sticky cold rice. It was clearly out of the refrig, pre-made, bloody awful. I used lots of Wasabi and shared it.(I know I should have sent it back, but I didn’t want to embarrass my old friend, who said the place was ok). The Spider roll was beautifully plated, but still old rice and other ingredients still made it suck. Sometimes places have poor sushi and good hot, If the Spider crab was any indication, be afraid of the Tempura too. The old grease overpowered my spider-crab. It was just nasty. I gave away half to my old, now evidently tasteless friend(he is 55!) I will go back, order a Hamachi Nigiri and make a 2nd assessment. but this Wed night, if it hadn’t been for social graces, I would have walked out after the first bite. It’s a new spot(year or so old) and it has some received uneven reviews. The friendliness of the people and the quality of the tea gives it one more shot with me, I will order specifically some of the items well received by the other reviewers. Maybe I just hit a rough patch., but my experience. Yuck. If I didn’t have family and friends nearby I would not ever give it a second chance.

Anson(owner/sushi chef) updated the interior with a new counter and other upgrades. The seating is limited, but comfortable. We had lunch on a Sunday afternoon and had no problems getting a table. Anson likes to show off his creativity and his custom rolls were attractive as well as delicious. We sampled the Kamikaze, Lion King, and Oyishi rolls. All were fresh and very tasty. If the place wasn’t so far from home, I would visit more often.

I went here for my birthday last year and the place was dark and wierd vibe. Sushi did not taste all that fresh. The sushi rice needed fine tuning, ya know what I mean? Seemed kinda watery. It was good service though(we were the only ones there). Got a coupon in the mail and hesitant on going back. We will see…

Tosaki is good sushi, for Sebastopol. I would go there again. The fish was fresh and tasty, service very pleasant. It would not stand up in San Francisco, but up here where choices are few, it doesn’t need to. It certainly beats Sushi Tozai, where I have had two meals, both mediocre.

Maybe I’m spoiled since there is so much good sushi in the south bay, but Tosaki was clearly lacking when it came down to… well, sushi. The serving sizes of both my orders of hamachi and unagi were ridiculously small. The saving grace was the lunch special chicken don. Good clean chicken & fresh veggies topped over rice for a good price :)

A few friends had recomended Tosaki so we went there for a bite to eat. Upon arrival, there was confusion as to where to seat us, then they finnally decided to seat us at a dirty table and make us wait. There were other already made up tables. Strange. Then we sat down. The table was wet. That right there grossed me out a bit. We were brought hot towels. Nice touch. We ordered some hot tea. It was rather watery and not the nice toasted rice/green tea. some other flavorless hot water tea. The room was very cold, I bet 65 or cooler… stark with large tile floors. funny Christmas LIghts… Its a rather weird looking place… Hubby ordered: Tuna Roll, 7 pc Maguru Sashimi and Sushi Rice. I ordered Chicken Teryaki Dinner. It was cold and gross. so I sent it back… It came back drowning in some rather flavorless sauce, hot yes,(probably microwaved) Huge no no in my book. Lacking flavor and just something rather off about it. So I refused to eat it. They came back and asked me what I would like to do. Either not eat or order something else. I ordered a nice roll thing… It was very good for what it was. Flavorful and fresh Fried Shrimp, Tuna, Avocado, I escpecially liked the sprinklings of black little fish eggs on it. They were delightful. I am doubtful we will return, if it is on the menu, it better be good in my book.

I’m giving this a second star only because the wait staff was sweet(although, I don’t think they understood English very well, which made the ordering process is a little awkward, and I do mean awkward). The interior was funky in a strip mall kind of way, and the inside of the restaurant didn’t look particularly clean. It took quote awhile for us to get our food, and the udon soup was very lackluster and the broth was very bland(Sushi Tozai makes the best udon in the North Bay, hands down). I will most likely not be going back here.

This is the newest sushi place in Sebastopol. The Good:
Creative rolls Good portions Nice presentation Friendly Staff The Bad: Loud!!!(I had to ask them to turn the music down so I could hear my wife) Slow Not very attentive(had to ask for refills on water)
