Unfortunately there will be no Red Rock Fantasy this year. The official word is that the Los Abrigados homeowners association voted against funding it. Now why it should be the homeowners association responsibility at all is not clear to me. It seems to me a corporate and civic responsibility since it brings business into Sedona during the winter months when it would otherwise be slow. This has been a tradition for 22 years and it’s a real shame to let it die.

We have gone to this 2 years in a row and really enjoy it. Check the weather, we froze in 2011

Sad that this year wasnt as good as some in the past… but I wholly attribute this to the crappy economy! These plots are expensive to decorate and a lot of people probably cant afford the materials. I had a lot of fun though and the atmosphere was festive. Seeing the kids excited was a lot of fun!

I kept the tradition alive & took my baby to the Red Rock Fantasy lights walk through :) My favorite light display was Smurf themed, lol. Normally along the walk the resort provides complimentary hot cider, but they didn’t have that this year. Instead along the walk through there were 2 areas to warm up! The first was a hot chocolate booth. The second was a rest area & I LOVED it: D The trees had twilkle lights, there were portable fire pits surrounded by chairs, Santa sitting near a big brick fireplace ready to take pics with kids(young & old!) & a booth that sold hot chocolate, coffee, chili, churros & smores kits! SMORESKITS!!! The girls & I sat around one of the fires & made smores while sipping on our hot chocolate :) What a memorable way to spend an evening with the person/people you love!

Every other year, on Thanksgiving week my family, and I mean ALOT of family(we usually have 4,5,6 rooms) comes here to Los Abrigados. My children, have always enjoyed it. It is beautiful… Depending on when Thanksgiving falls, we get to see the familys setting up their Christmas displays. It is so beautiful, and really brings in the Holidays. People come from all over to vote on their favorite display. The winner stays in the«stone house» the following year. PS. My sister and her hubby upgraded to the«houses» and hawe have been staying at the celebrity house. What a neat place. Private pool, spa ect… BUT Los Abrigados has changed a bit since they were bought out. It is still a wonderful place, and the spa and workout room ect… are a HUGH plus. Best massages Ive ever had.
