Taqueria El Charro Tapatio

I was a little skeptical of this place when my wife brought me here. I ordered the Jalisco Burrito with the Carne guisada and I only have three letters to describe it. O… M…G… I have had hundreds of variations of this all across the nation and this is hands down the best I have ever had!!!

Found a full parking lot, and I know why! Very good flavors, comfortable environment, reasonable prices.

This place is awesome. Try the Tejano plate — you won’t be disappointed. The service was friendly and fast. The prices are great. The food is absolutely amazing. Large servings that don’t make you feel overly stuffed after you finish.

OMG!!! THIS PLACE IS INSANE!!! We were in town for schlitterburn and we needed to get some dinner after a long and crazy day. OMG!!! My hubby and I are thinking of driving back from Htown just to eat here again!!! The food was WONDERFUL!!! The stuff were great too. You will not regret it!!! Im as fat as a tick right now!!!

Good food and decent service always. I like the pork tacos here my favorite great prices also. Tacos are best thing I found here for all meals breakfast is king here. Very very good breakfast

The customer service was very rude, and unprofessional. They need more training and show better respect towards the customers. So we left no tip, the was under cooked. Will not return back.

Wow. I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed El Charro yet. This is my favorite Jalisco style Mexican restaurants in Seguin. The staff is always friendly and service is awesome. This is where I go when I want Mexican food and can’t make up my mind. It is very popular for breakfast.

Good Mexican food and very reasonable prices! Service is normally very good.
We stop here at least once a week for Breakfast or Dinner.

I’m sorry to report that this place has lost one star for me. Recently they have switched to some new type of cheese, that isn’t really cheese but more like velveeta, in place of the cheddar they used to use. Thus, their once yummy bean and cheese tacos are not so yummy anymore.
Management: please consider saving money in another area as this change has caused us to choose other restaurants over yours in recent days. We love coming here for price, convenience, and service. We wish the food was as great as it used to be. Please do something about the cheese.

After reading all of the great reviews, I was looking forward to a meal here. I was pretty disappointed. The food was truly mediocre, actually bordering on bad. I had the chips and salsa which other Unilocalers raved about. The salsa was ok but it had an odd aftertaste that I couldn’t pinpoint. Almost like one ingredient was bad.
I ordered the tejano plate with cheese enchiladas for my meal. The grave on the cheese enchiladas tasted like canned enchilada gravy. The carne guisada was fine I guess. Unlike Perry W, I thought it was nothing special.
My soda came in a can, so no free refills.
Service was fine. Though my food took a little longer than I expected.
All in all, there is much better Mexican food 30 minutes down the road in San Antonio. I won’t be coming back.

On a visit in late August 2014, I was dismayed to find chips that were purchased rather than made in-​house. Previously they had some of the best chips in Seguin and were one of the reasons we are regulars here. We will still keep coming, but I hope they go back to making their own.

Place is super busy at lunch. Had the barbacoa and pastor. Barbacoa was decent, pastor meh. Red salsa is fresh, but too tomatoey. No a bad place.

Loved this place. Great service, casual atmosphere and most important delicious food. Seguin is on the map for best Mexican in Texas. Local feel and flavored add to the experience.

Found this place a few years ago via our Garmin, and recently rediscovered it all over again. While the restaurant was renovated, the service and food hasn’t changed. It was awesome. We have lived in Texas all our lives and know good TexMex when it’s placed in front of us.
For this meal I choose the Tehano Enchilada Plate with Carne Guisada. The Carne Guisada was OMG Great.
This place is worth the detour if you are near Seguin, Tx.

This was really nice. Driving from San Antonio to Houston, we stopped along the road in Seguin, TX and found this. Looking through the local Unilocal reviews, this one got pretty good ones.
The restaurant is not elegant in any way. It was late when we arrived (around 8:30 PM) and only a few people were there. But, this actually worked in our favor. The service was outstanding and so was the food.
I had beef enchiladas. There were three with a green sauce, refried beans, rice and tortillas. The food was very fresh and very tasty.
Don’t know if and when I’ll be in Seguin again, but if I do end up there sometime, I’ll stop in again.

We went to Seguin to take care of TLU stuff. Saw this restaurant rated well on Unilocal,so gave it a shot. Delicious food and a great value. Wait staff was very friendly. I was very pleased. I recommend this restaurant!!!
