Went for dinner to try a new place. The server was very nice, but after that it all went downhill. The food was served so fast we barely had time to finish our first glass of sangria. I had enchiladas and a taco, neither had any flavor. Such a shame the food was so bad because the place looks so nice.

Met up with a friend for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. Crowded place but they had room to seat us — the bar seems extremely popular. Ordered a few beers which were delivered quickly as were subsequent drink orders. The service was attentive but not invasive — the food arrived surprisingly fast. I had the paella which was a little pricey as a special but very generous with the seafood — a small lobster tail, about half a dozen shrimp and a good number of clams and mussels in the shell, which were well cleaned. My friend had the vegetarian combo and enjoyed it very much. 4 stars for good service, good food and a nice atmosphere — would have been 5 but the food was ‘good’ and not ‘great’.

Come here often with my wife. Food is good. Service is quick. The bar seems to get a steady crowd too. This is a good spot.

I don’t know why I never walked into this restaurant before. I had their shredded beef chimichanga and it was to die for! The flavors were perfect and the tortilla was cooked perfectly. I would suggest buying only a half pitcher of margarita if you are drinking by yourself, a whole pitcher can feed three average sized males. I would eat here anytime!

Good authentic Mexican food. I’ve had the taxis and taco salad and they are both very good. Love it!

My wife and I used to frequent the Viva Juan in Centerport which unfortunately closed. It was nice to see there was one close to home. Just like the other Viva Juan, food was amazing. We went on a Saturday for lunch so the place wasn’t at all busy so service was quick. I had the beef quesadilla and my wife had the chicken fajitas, both of which were very flavorful and tasty. Price was a little steep especially for lunch, but absolutely worth it.

I read the prior reviews and they obviously written by people who have never had authentic Mexican food, or believe that all Latin American cuisine is the same. I went there over a year ago with my daughter and was let down. The dishes they served there were not Mexican, Tex-Mex, nor Cal-Mex. They had fajitas but the recipe was not Mexicans. the seasoning and spices were were not consistant with authentic Mexican cuisine. Despite my last experience there my wife and I decided to try the place again and went with another couple. Very limited appetizers and not good selections. In fact I found the appetizers overpriced for what they were. Food on the menu was definitely not authentic Mexican food. My wife in my friend’s ordered a drink that was supposed to be a cosmopolitan made with tequila. Neither one of them were able to finish the drink because it tastes so bad. I later found out but the whole wait staff owners and probably cook are Colombians and not Mexicans. Which accounts for the food not having authentic taste or any authentic Mexican selections. They also will seat you at tables located on a stage right next to the large speakers so you can’t even have a conversation because the music is played so loud. Definitely not worth the money I spent. Perhaps they might have better luck with Colombian food.

This establishment lacks morals, integrity, and quality. I mean this place is a total embarrassment and a joke. The story begins like this, called this joint around 4:30pm on a Tuesday to place a order for pickup. Some ballon head answers the phone and asks what i want. I tell him I want a chicken burrito and asked if any sides came with it, and for whatever reason maybe it was viewed as an insult or the person was just not sober enough to comprehend what i had just said because i got complete silence. I continue to say hello, hello, hello but to no avail. And instead the ballon head hangs up on me. Okay maybe it was a communication problem right? I mean who doesn’t want business right? So I call again, again, and again and not one individual picks up. Now at this point, I have two options, my family wanted Mexican food and this place was right around the corner, second option was to go to Taco Bell which also was around the corner. I choose to visit viva Juan and place the order in person because hey maybe their just highly incompetent in answering phones. I arrive and place the order in person. Brought the food home and oh my god, I joke you not the food was a holy hell mess. Item one burrito. Repulsive, and non edible is the best way to describe it. Second Item chicken enchiladas. Absolutely atrocious, once again chicken tasting no better than pig feet and the sauce, I mean the sauce was something alien, each bite caused a gag reflex. And finally the third item a chicken quesadilla, better than the previous two but not far behind. The meats has to change here not sure where it’s coming from but it’s real bad. I mean what a shame, i would absolutely suggest Taco Bell over this joint by a mile.

The food is amazing. My tip for reading these reviews: make sure you look at the date they were posted because restaurants do change. They have karaōke Friday and Saturday nights from around 9:30ish to close. Its free! It’s a lot of fun and there are some great singers out there so it’s very entertaining. And they have the lyrics on one of the TV screens so you can sing along in the audience if you’d like. But even if you feel as though you aren’t the best singer, it’s still fun to sign up to sing. We all know it takes a lot of courage to go up and sing, and we are all here to have fun. The food is a little pricey for some peoples liking(but not too expensive), and the portions are big pretty big. Depending on how hungry I am, sometimes I have to bring home leftovers. One option would be to share a plate with someone, and if you want more food, order another dish! The food comes out so fast and so fresh that you don’t have to worry about waiting long. Trust me. The drinks are also amazing. I personally always get the white sangria, but so far all the drinks I’ve tasted were really great. Even if you want a virgin drink, those are delicious too. I’ve tried the virgin piña colada and the virgin mango drink and they were really good. I haven’t tried the margaritas yet, but I heard those are the best. The servers are very nice, friendly, and very attentive. This place is really great. I keep coming back.

Not many options for«authentic» Mexican around here… this place serves up some really good food and FAST! Servers are friendly too. My only complaint is the prices. It’s not cheap, but it is comparable to other places, I suppose. $ 8 for a margarita, $ 8 for an appetizer, $ 15 entrees, more if you want a premium protein… we typically enjoy water and the complimentary chips with a couple of entrees for a $ 40 evening with tip lol! Good food though. Very loud in there, if I had to give a second gripe…

Ok there are a lot of people here with no taste buds. The food is bland at best. And I’m being kind when I say this. I don’t expect the place to be a 5 star restaurant but the quality must come up along with the food being served as well. The prices are also quite high for the portions too. The overall experience is very disappointing. I don’t expect the food to taste like all the other mexican food places I’ve been. But a place as dressed up as it is. I am expecting higher quality food and taste to come out of the kitchen. I am truly disappointed with the total experience.

My boyfriend and I came for an early dinner on a Friday night. First thing we noticed was the huge crowd at the bar, seemed like the group of middle aged people were there celebrating something. It was our first time so I don’t know if it is always that LOUD. Food came out in less than 10 minutes and while it wasn’t anything special it all tasted fresh and was your typical Mexican food, which is what we wanted. Overall the entire experience was good, but I won’t necessarily come back until the next time I get a craving for Mexican.

I was shocked when I went here recently with some friends. The dish portions have changed drastically. The size portions are tiny now, from what they once were. The nachos for an appetizer we ordered… use to feed four, now feed 2 if you are lucky. They were still very good though. The meals no longer come with sour cream or guacamole??? It is an additional cost now I believe $ 1.99. It use to come with the meal. You can clearly see in the pictures I put up here use to come with that stuff like it should. It is Mexican food, it is expected. Yet with the portions size getting smaller and no longer including the sides it should and use to, the prices have not gone down, they have actually gone up. Because these things we will not be coming back. The staff was friendly and the music was nice. Cutting corners in the restaurant business to make some more money isnt a good idea. It doesnt take much. A little sour cream and guacamole on the side is the little things people appreciate and expect when eating at a Mexican restaurant.

I wanted to eat here a few times before posting my review. Overall it’s a decent restaurant, but it mainly stands out because of the lack of other dining options in the area. You can only eat so many nuggets and fries from Wendy’s right? The food was okay, not great but not bad. The only real issue I had was that for the prices you pay, the portions are on the small side. I’ve had tastier plates of the same type of food in and around the city and the portions are larger for a lower price. I know this restaurant isn’t in the city, which is why this is more of my own personal commentary. All that being said, the atmosphere was great and I did have a nice time each time I visited. If you’re looking for some decent Mexican cuisine, this is not a bad option.

Nice little spot with simple but tasty food. The food wasn’t magnificent, but it was good and left me full and satisfied. Had the nacho supreme appetizer which wasn’t very supreme in size or ingredients. I could have skipped them to save room for the chimichanga and quesadilla combo I ordered which came with rice and beans. The beef wasn’t as tender as it could have been but wasn’t bad. Delicious guac(and their salsa ain’t too shabby either). Beans were alright, could have done with them in the quesadilla maybe, and the rice isn’t anything special.

Super standard restaurant Mexican. Exactly what you expect is exactly what you get. Cheesy enchiladas. Lots of cheese, huge helping of black beans and rice. Cheap drinks, it’s a good place to fight pretension.

I went there with my girlfriend and her group of friends from her job, there was about 15 of us. We ordered food, drinks and dessert. Basically the whole menu. During our time there the staff and Management were extremely rude to us. We were not just sitting there ordering water and a app. We rang up a large bill. When we asked for a glass of water, we would have to ask two to three times and then they would bring it out I’m a wine glass, WTF. Also the waiter was complaining that we had a spilt up the bill. I mean this is not new to them. Some of us had cash other credit. There are other stories from that night that you will find on here. This was part of my experience. Please read the other. We will NOT be going back. I’m sorry but true.

Have now been to this location twice, and there will NOT be a third! Both times we went with a large group and both times the staff and management were rude and cold. They seemed bothered by us and even argumentative at one point! Food was subpar at best, not worth the abuse from management when he fought with us over a water that tasted soapy(that we had to ask for 3 times!). We asked for a replacement and commented on the rudeness of the waiter only to be told that the server was overwhelmed with our group«not for nothing there is 14 in your party!» And«there couldn’t be soap in this water, but I GUESS I’ll get you another.» Really? A simple apology and a water would have made the whole situation better… Guess that’s too much to ask for at Viva Juan’s!

As a work group we have gone to Viva Juans II in Selden twice for Karaōke Night. Both times the group was large, got rounds of shots, food, and drinks. While the food and the alcohol were ok, the service, was not. Both times the manager and wait staff treated us like a burden. You know, a large group who is running up a huge tab on a Friday night is bad for business. We also kept singing, dancing, going with the whole mood of the loud, Friday Night atmosphere. Apparently, this is annoying to them. It was really disappointing. I know large parties take up space and whatnot, but we were spending money — and I mean $ 50-$ 100 per person in 4 hours money. I guess management there doesn’t like successful Friday evenings where people have fun. Really let down by the way the staff treated us.

Food is good here compared to the area. Went here on a Friday night for my birthday and they let us buy a substantial amount of alcohol, and 10 minutes later told us to down it and kicked us out. Fan of the food not the service.

Mexican. I liked the Viva Juan in Huntington and looking around I saw that there was this location — apparently the only one left and we were in the mood for Mexican so we got ourselves a table and got the party started. I started off with a margarita — it was a bit too sweet for me– like the bottle margarita mix type of sweet. No bueno– I bailed out of that after the first one. We all went with mixed drinks after that. The menu has all the usual suspects you expect at a Mexican joint with the exception of tamales which is basically what I really wanted. Plan«B» was a combo plate with a tostada, burrito and enchilada and came with the standard yellow rice and refried beans. My partner in crime went with a kids portion chicken and rice, good move on her part — and frankly, I would order next time as it was on the large size. We had chips and a pretty lively salsa while waiting for the food. The water on the table — straight from the tap and although cool, it tasted like crap. The food made an appearance and I have to say, it was somewhat disappointing — everything was just meh. Nothing was that tasty that you wanted to eat more of it — especially the tostada — it looked like something you microwave. I basically ate the beans with the tortilla chips and called it a meal. The place was basically empty with only one other table– but it was also early in the day so that could explain that. Overall, for what we paid and what we felt it should have cost, we would probably not go back here when there is an awesome place much closer to home. Parking in front.
