The Golden Star has become our GO-TO for excellent, FRESHMADE, FRESHINGREDIENTS, Cantonese style Chinese food. Great service tho the language barrier can be a minor issue at times. Very Clean, nice décor, cannot find better hot and sour soup anywhere locally, the chicken curry with vegetables is a delight and my favorite lunch of all the specials, great prices and handy!

It has been about 30 years since I’ve walked into a Chinese restaurant I really enjoyed. The last one was about 3,000 miles away in NH. Finally, though, we have found one we will come back to often. This place is amazing! I had the vegetarian mu shu and it was the freshest and best tasting I have ever had. My hubby had the cashew chicken. His vegetables were crunchy and fresh and I could not believe how many cashews were folded in. Not your typical few just sprinkled over the top! Only he had rice and it was a nice little individual serving. We were not forced to buy a giant table size serving as you are in some places. The serving sizes were just right. Everything was served fresh, cleanly, quickly and by an appreciative waiter. Most of all the place was squeaky clean! We will return often. Note: only minimal beers & wines served.

Extremely disappointed in this place. When we first moved her we lived eating at Golden Star, but it seems things have changed. The last three times we went the food was on and service was TERRIBLE! The guy who works there has a very poor attitude. Last time we found a bug in our soup, wings and all, he refused to do anything about it! Unfortunately we will not be going back. Bummer.

I couldn’t be happier with this restaurant, including the service, food, & reasonable prices. The food portions were wonderful. I had the sweet and sour pork lunch entrée. It was incredibly delicious. I was also in love with the fried rice… doesn’t get any better than that. We had a table of 11 of us(more than the large table usually seats, yet all of us fit in & were comfortable. Our servers were perfect, friendly, accommodating. The waiting time was more than reasonable, with the food hot. I even was surprised that the order I took home was still warm enough for my husband to eat. This will be my «go to» place for Chinese food in Sequim.

This place is absolutely wonderful! Quick service, great American-Chinese food, extremely clean facilities. Why this place was empty at lunch time on a Monday(maybe the holiday?) is beyond me. Awesome place, major thumbs up!

Amazing Chinese food anywhere let alone Sequim. Unilocal lead us here and it was right. We were in Sequim for 5 days and managed to eat here 3 times. Wor Won ton soup awesome. So good we took some home with us. Lunch special is great deal. And unlike almost every other Chinese Restaurant we have been to in Washington, this one Includes rice. It’s a little thing but …

After several visits, we rate Golden Star hands down the best Chinese food on the Peninsula. The service is consistently excellent, the place is clean and has nice atmosphere, some of the booths offer a measure of visual privacy, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable especially for the lunch special. Haven’t yet had a dish here that we didn’t like, such as the bean curd vegetable and broccoli beef. Also nice that you can substitute brown rice or chow mein noodles for fried or white rice for only a dollar or two more. Update: The dinner special is also excellent and the portion sizes are generous.

Crunchy crust on chicken, sauce is meh. Pork fried rice is great. Nice music /atmosphere. Service great. I was the only diner, so apparently that meant the owners, kitchen and wait staff thought nothing about all coming out to slurp up some dinner nearby. Not a biggy, but felt a bit weird like I was keeping them open.(was within regular hours)

There are at least 4 other Chinese restaurants in Sequim, which is amazing since there are NO Chinese restaurants now on the entire island of Maui(hint to enterprising Chinese chefs;). We saw Golden Star being built out last November, and decided to try it for a 9 person birthday dinner this July. Everyone raved about the quality of the food. Owner Jason Li was a very good host. I went over some choices with him, and we figured out a nice well rounded menu. The crab Rangoon was excellent ~ crisp and tasty and freshly prepared(as were all their dishes). Our birthday guest from Germany loved the pan fried pot stickers. Vinegar and hot oil would be a nice plus. Everyone loved their version of hot and sour soup which had a nice balance of vinegar and zip. My father-in-law raved about the warm char siu(roasted pork) appetizer. The sweet and sour pork was perfection, freshly made with a very light batter. The house special fired rice was delectable. The moo goo gai pan was a hit with my in-laws. The walnut shrimp had tasty shrimp but the walnuts were stale. The nine spice beef was excellent with a burst of multiple flavors. They served some nice orange slices and fortune cookies for dessert. Everyone absolutely raved about the quality and tastiness of the dinner. We wish the brothers Jason and Danny lots of luck in a first rate Cantonese restaurant.

Best Chinese food I’ve had in a while. The Szechwan shrimp was outstanding with crisp colorful veggies and flavorful sauce. Chicken chow mein was also great for a basic dish. Minus one star for the Kung Pao chicken and not so friendly service — efficient server, just not very friendly.

Excellent food! The pork chow mein was fantastic, and the lunch special comes with fried rice and a side dish. The BBQ pork appetizer is definitely not to be missed!
