Wildflour Confections

Finally getting around to this review, I’ve waited patiently for this cupcake place to open and it finally did after months of driving by, and on Spring of 2015-​and I’ve been going ever since! It’s a cute, comfortable and laid back ambiance for coffee and sweets. I’ve had various flavors from Snow White, Jimmy Page, Snickers, and Boston Cream – none has disappointed. The bakery also has cakes, cake pops, carrot cake truffles, coffee, tea and a treat for your pups.
About the cupcakes, the cake is soft, airy, and not overpowering with sugar like some cupcakes that it almost hurts to eat. The frosting is just the perfect concoction of sweetness. Some cupcakes have fillings such as the raspberry lime and snickers, those two flavors alone are amazing! The flavors change every few weeks so it’s a nice surprise every visit, I can’t wait for the summer flavors!

I can’t decide where I’d like to first start raving about Wildflour Confections. New Haven County is supremely lucky to have such a unique, professional, high quality bakery for all their sweet tooth needs.
My first experience with Wildflour was this past November. A friend surprised me at my birthday party with a custom made cake. Every single person at my party remarked how creative and fun the cake looked, only to be followed by how absolutely delicious it was.
Recently, I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting Wildflour in person. This fully realized bakery is a shining gem of a location in Seymour. The store is kept clean, the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful, and the décor is something out of a catalog. If I had more time, I would have felt comfortable enough to sink into one of their comfy couches with my laptop and a cupcake (or two).
This past weekend I was fortunate enough to meet the owner, Alyssa. Within moments of introducing myself, you can see how every single aspect of her glowing personality is reflected in all of Wildflour’s personal details and touches. She embodies what passion can add to a small business. Wildflour utilizes the awesome power of an instagram account (which I now follow) to let customers know what types of cupcakes they have in store that particular day.
Wildflour Confections is doing everything right. Stop by sooner rather than later. Your sweet tooth will thank you!

The first time we got cupcakes there we thought they were stale. They were awful. Three kids in the house and I threw some out!
Tried them again last week and and all agreed that the cake in the cupcakes is just plain lousy. The chocolate is so dry and tasteless. My daughters comment was exact, it tastes like bread. The vanilla cupcake broke all apart when I tried to take it out of the paper. What’s more infuriating, because I spent almost 20.00 for 6, was that the filled ones had practically no filling. The only good thing about any of the varieties we’ve tried were the icings. That’s it. Period. So many better baked goods around. I don’t know how they’ve been getting away with passing the terrible cake off. These are not worth it at all.

I’ve tried Wildflour twice and both times felt completely underwhelmed by the cupcakes we purchased.
Dense, dry chocolate & vanilla cupcakes. My husband ordered a dozen for my birthday and it was hard to finish them over several days– just not enough flavor. The frosting was rich and smooth, I’ll give them that.
We also ordered two gluten-​free cupcakes and found them to be dry & crumbly. The dollop of frosting on top, slid right off inside the box that they came in. Not particularly appetizing.
This is a newer business & I have high hopes that there is lots of time for improvement in the future.

Most interesting flavors! Bought a dozen cupcakes for a family party. All gluten free!

Just had Alissa do the cakes and cookie favors for my daughter’s wedding shower. The cakes were so beautifully decorated in the perfect colors, they were elegant. Everyone commented on the cakes and then when the cakes were served, they were delicious and moist. The cookie favors were perfect and loved by all. My vegan sister loved the vegan cupcake made especially for her.
Would highly recommend this bakery for any special occasions.

Great cakes, cupcakes and other confectionery wonders! Worth stopping in to satisfy your sweet tooth! We love going here to order cakes for any occasion or just to stop in for a random cupcake! They have gluten free options too. Pup cakes for dogs as well.

I had my daughters birthday cake made here after a friend recommended this bakery. We just moved to Seymour so I figured we would give it a try. Not only was the cake absolutely beautiful but it tasted AMAZING!!! The price was perfect and it made the day super special for my daughter! We have also had the cupcakes and they are amazing too! Without a doubt everyone should take time to stop in! We are definitely repeat customers!!!
