Lame. Expensive, cheap sets, lame monsters and bad costumes and makeup. Skip this one for something else. You can pretty much go to *any* Twin Cities haunt for the same quality at a lower price.

Very disappointing and way overpriced. The zombie paintball was a complete waste of time. There were no zombies!!! they had 6 – 8 people in glow in the dark vests and hoodies, that would growl when you by; that was the extent of it. There was so much ammo left at the end that they had everyone shoot at graveyard headstones. The trail of terror indoor maze would have been ok for a younger crowd but not for 18+. The outdoor trail came with another hour long wait and the trail was a poor attempt at scary. I think $ 5 – 10 would be a more appropriate price and a name change; there wasn’t anything terrifying about this experience other than time wasted and long lines.

I think this attraction needs to only sell a certain amount of tickets per night, or drop the price of admission. I love Halloween and haunted houses and went to the Trail of Terror with some friends. Here is what happened: Parked car around 8 pm, bought a twenty dollar ticket. Everyone wanted to see the main trail, so we all immediately got in line for it. An entire hour and a half in line, we finally get to go onto the trail. However, it was so crowded, we were sent off in groups of twenty or more. It’s just not very scary when there’s a huge hoard of people around you. We walk through and there’s barely any actors or fun props on the trail, mostly just«spooky» lights here and there. When we did come across an actor, they seemed bored and tired. I didn’t get so much as a «boo» from any of them. I get scared easily, and honestly this felt like a leisurely stroll through the woods. So, my friends and I got done with the trail, and we were all so disappointed from the long line and the not-fun trail experience, we didn’t bother waiting in another hour-long line for any other attraction. We went home completely bummed out.

My party of 5 went through the Zombie Paintball at Trail of Terror. We got there at 7:15 and proceeded to sit an wait until 8:30 to finally play Paintball. The wait was ridiculous and they were so disorganized. They rushed us through the rules and how to use the guns that many of us had to ask others around us what to do. Our group was rushed through the trail and we had 6 ‘zombies’ to shoot. None of them were dressed like a zombie, just random masks and costume’s. It lasted about 10 minutes. It was fun but not worth the wait. Afterwards, we went to the other attractions. The wait lines are so long, be prepared to stand around more then be scared and see the attractions. Was it worth the price, Hell No!!! The one positive fun attraction was the Knocker ball. Worth the $ 5 to watch people do this!

My friends and I went here on Saturday and there were LOTS of people, but that was expected. We had got advance tickets, and also purchases tickets for the Hogtied Pub Crawl – with that you got VIP access to the Trail and Maze which is worth the extra $ 20 itself! The lines for each place was easily 150+long, and we cut to the front and right in. However, the«pub crawl» part of it was pretty poorly organized. The first beer stop before the trail walk there was one clearly never poured a beer guy being a little to chatty to get through 40 of us as well as checking IDs. Wouldn’t it make sense to check IDs at the check in point and at least have two people pouring for the pub crawl stops? By the time we got our beer and rejoined with the group we were told we need to slam our drinks in order to continue on. This happened again at our second beer stop too… the chugging of the beer and only one beer pourer. Our«tour guide» was pretty awesome though. very funny. captain spaulding. The indoor maze was great. Very detailed, long, and spooky although the whole experience did not give us the scares we had been looking for. I am glad I was able to get out to the Trail of Terror for my first time at age 27, but I don’t think I will be back.

The lines are long and just not scary. I think for what it is the should charge half the price they do. Also explain the vip option a little better. Over all it was just ok. Got more startled by my sister than by the«staff». I won’t go back unless they drop prices.

First of all, I signed up for Unilocal only to write this review because my experience was just that bad! I dragged my friends out here on a Sunday night, thinking that it would be a fun«scary» activity to do. I was totally wrong… I rarely get weekends off so this was sort of a treat for me. We got there pretty late(around 10pm) and they close at 11pm on Sundays, so we kinda understood the actors probably wanted to get out of there and go home. But I did not expect them to treat us in the way that they did! We first went through the maze, which was fun, we were scared. Seemed like people actually cared about their job there. But then we went through the woods walk. The line attendant was funny and joked around with us, the people in the woods were not. I was with my two close friends(who are gay, and yes we got bad looks from employees). These two kids jumped out and«scared» us then tried to ask me what my name is and tried to get my number. When I denied them they told me to «fuck off» and called me a bitch. My night was immediately ruined after that. But it gets worse… We then went through the trailers… Not scary. In one of them a guy literally told us he was the only one in there and that he was going to just walk us through it and not even try to scare us. He then proceeded by asking where we were from and if we smoked weed! I asked him how much he was paid to work here since he didn’t feel like even doing his job. He told me he gets $ 650 every ten days and that he was going to buy a big bag of weed with it. This is so unprofessional!!! Not only that but by the time we got out he told me I was cute and asked for a kiss! Really?! I wanted to leave immediately after that! This was the worst experience I’ve encountered at a «scary» attraction. I spent $ 40 bucks for me and one of my friends to go and it was literally throwing it in the trash only to get hit on by teenagers!!! DONOTGOHERE. Seriously, Trail of Terror, get it together! Hire people who will actually do their job and not harass ladies! I am so disgusted by this place and will steer any one I know to not go there!

I’m not sure if there have been drastic improvements to Trail of Terror since the other reviewers went, or if they had unrealistic expectations of what the park would be. Upon arrival, i bought tickets, and walked in side(matter of 2 minutes in line). Upon walking in I see food trailers, karaōke, and a bonfire. We checked out the food and whatnot for a bit then proceeded to Zombie Paintball. The best way I can describe this is a real life reenactment of Left For Dead with paintball guns. This was a blast. The only thing I would change would be to bring more anti-fog spray for the mask, and get the extra paintballs. Next up was the heated indoor maze. This was amazing! I was legitimately spooky, and we were startled more than a few times going through. Last stop for the evening was the terror walk or whatever they called it. This was the longest line, probably 15 minutes, but the wait was worth it. This is exactly what you can expect. A dark trail, in the woods, with people screaming and trying to spook you. I wasn’t afraid, but I’m also 32 years old. This would be terrifying for little kids, which I think is the intended audience. Over all, I was pleasantly surprised how great this was given the reviews for the place. I will be back this year, and will continue to go back each year. Do yourself a favor, and check it out.

If you get free tickets, it could be a fun Sunday night. If you pay to go on a Friday or Saturday night, you’re an idiot. Every year they hype this place as some huge, incredible spectacle. There’s a lot going on there, but bring your cash, and temper your expectations. The haunted house that started it all(I think), is a good show. There are a few unique aspects to it, but otherwise it’s just another haunted house with tons of props. It’s about 15 minutes long. We timed it last year. The hayride can be fun. There are a few cool effects, but otherwise it’s hard to get scared on a hayride, unless you’re 8 years old. It sucks because you’re facing one side or the other, and therefore can’t see things happening behind you, at least not easily. It would be nice if you could face forward, but they want to cram a billion people on the wagon. I took my nephew years ago(thanks to free tickets) and we went on a Friday. It was a long wait for both attractions. Super long. They also have four or five«halls of horror.» These are short, themed trailers that take about 30 seconds to walk through. There might be one guy working in each of them, and for the most part they’re lame. Trail of Terror hypes them up in their advertising, but they add little to the experience. There are other features offered, and hyped in the advertising, but they all cost additional money. They have live bands on weekends, I think, and yes, you can buy beer, but don’t think that $ 19 or $ 20 you paid to get in is going to get you a decent price on beer. They charge as much as the bar. I get free tickets from my friend some years, so I can’t complain about the price, but I would never pay to go there.

If terror to you means long lines, a carnival atmosphere with lots if cheap food and scant entertainment, stadium lights, and dashed expectations, then have a go at this venue. Otherwise save the gas and throw Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin in the DVD player and snuggle in. The maze was OK, in all fairness, but otherwise head to Screamtown one town over and get more scream for your buck.

Conversation between my friend Tiff and me during the haunted maze as our arms are locked together the whole time. Tiff: Oh, I can feel it start to get cold again, we must be near the end. Me: Great! Cause we’ve been walking a long time and I’m kinda bored. Tiff: BOO!(as she tries to scare our two friends ahead of us — it worked) (Cue Jason music. At this time, I look over my right shoulder and see a dude in a Jason mask holding a chainsaw. Yeah, to try and look cool and not freak out, I keep walking but shuffle a little faster.) Me: Tiff! Tiff. Hurry. Jason. Behind us. Chainsaw. Still coming faster. Tiff:(Looks behind her to see and hear Jason revving his chainsaw) Oh! F*** this! I’m getting the f out of here(insert a running Tiff here). Me:(Looks behind and finds that Jason is getting much closer so I book it thinking, «hey, we’re almost to the end! Great!») Nope — just the«outdoor» part of the maze and into some acid-trippy-dizzy room. LOVEDIT! Seriously folks, come with a low expectations… and some fast running shoes… and just to have some fun. Expect that there will be lines. Expect that it’ll be cold. Expect that you will have to use biffers to pee(or poop cause you don’t that in your pants). Just don’t expect too much and you’ll find this even quiet enjoyable. A couple of recommendations though? Show up early to get a good spot. It opens at seven. If you get there at nine, don’t get ticked that you have to park WAY behind the smarty pants that got there at seven. Avoid the hayride — kind of a waste of time. Debit cards are accepted… yum mini donuts and cheese curds.

Well, I have to say that this was one of the most frightening experiences of my life… and not in a good, frightening«I Love Halloween» way! First, after parking, we had to wait in line for about 10 minutes to catch a bus. Then, after the scary fast bus ride through the woods, we made it to the front gate. Luckily, we had complimentary tickets(that we won, yay!), so we didn’t have to wait in that line. Upon entering, they handed us letters and numbers that would get us in to the hayride and maze at a future time. All we had to do was wait for our letter and number to appear on the screens throughout the event. I looked at my tickets, «U, 21.» I looked at the screen, «A-K, 1 – 11.» Ok, this shouldn’t be so bad, right? Wrong. We wandered around the event and noticed a ton of long lines for the other«haunted houses.» I’d approximate that we waited for 10 – 15 minutes in each line just go through those obnoxiously boring«haunted houses.» I call them obnoxiously boring, because they each took only 5 – 10 seconds to get through, had mediocre scenes set up, and there were one or two characters that jumped out at you. The rest of the event was pretty boring, as well. Three hours later, our letter and number showed up on the screen. We were very tired of waiting at this point, but drudgingly went to wait in yet another line for the maze. After 10 – 15 minutes in the outside line that led us to a 5 – 10 minute line inside, we finally made it in to the haunted maze. This part wasn’t so bad… the scenes were way better, the characters seemed to be more into their job, and it was pretty long(about a 15 – 20 minute walk). By the time we were outside, though, it was 1:00 in the morning, there was pretty much no one walking around the event anymore, we couldn’t find the haunted hayride entrance(the part I was looking forward to the most!), so we ended up calling it a night and leaving. Long story short, it was a very disappointing night!

i love this place, but only on Thursday nights. i really don’t like it much on Friday or Saturday night cuz it’s soooo crazy crowded. At least they have started with handing out timed numbers so you don’t have to wait in line for 3 hours(last year for the hay ride), so that’s an upswing for Trail. i would highly recommend this place to anyone. i LOVE the haunted maze it’s by far my favorite place to go for Halloween!

After reading a couple reviews for the Trail of Terror on other sites, I was dreading going there last night. I read it was crowded, full of annoying, rude drunk and overall a waste of money. My friends swore it was super fun and scary too so twist my arm, off I went to experience the terror. The start of the night was surprisingly simple. After driving down a long gravel road we were directed into a field to park. We walked to the entrance, met up with our friends and bought tickets with no wait. Tickets are $ 18 per adult but I got $ 2 each ticket for having triple A. Woot woot! Right after we walked in, we all went noticed a beer stand. They have alcohol? Triple woot! And they actually had a bit of a selection — 3 kinds of hard cider, two types of wine and 2 or 3 beers on tap. $ 5 a pop — which isn’t an obscene amount, really. We headed over to the Haunted Hayride, passing by a couple singing on a karaōke stand… SWEET! After following the signs we came into a clearing and saw 100+ people waiting in line for the hayride. Luckily, it moved at a decent clip… plus there was a couple food/soda stands within the line so I was able to quench my thirst. My husband was pumped to get a red rope licorice. The licorice turned out to be the only exciting thing about the hayride. The actors that jumped out to scare us were, as my friend Emily put it, so not COMMITTED. I got the feeling they were very tired of their jobs. My husband described the ride as «sad faces» and I had to agree. The only scary part for me having my feet hang off the side of a slow moving trailer. After an ATM crisis and a couple more beers(and a really sad peek into Club Scream — an empty tent with a dj), we moved on to the Trail of Terror — the other main attraction — an indoor maze. I’m a jumpy kind of gal so I started off scared. It turned into hilarity. I practically peed my pants laughing at people jumping, screaming and freaking out. And it actually took a while to get through the maze. Unfortunately, at the end of the maze we were escorted out of the park by security. They even escorted us to our car! We were told my homosexual friend had grabbed a girl’s breast.(which he denied). Pretty sure he wasn’t trolling for women in the Trail of Terror but whatever. It was an amusing end to an overall disappointing evening.
