I’m picky about my Mexican food and I’m always skeptical of Mexican restaurants in «strip malls». This place is not one of those holes in the walls with cheap crappy food. This is a great restaurant with good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I will definitely be returning and love that this is right in the neighborhood. I had the chips and queso and burrito and they were both great. Good flavor and authentic taste. Definitely give this place a try.

Fast and great service. Elaborately decorated interior. Big cheap beers. Decent food. Big portions. Low prices.

After running a couple errands in the area, we headed in here for a quick bite. I figured with a four-star average, it couldn’t be too bad. We were seated immediately. I detected an odd chemical smell, but no one else did and after we sat down I didn’t notice anything. I ordered the lunch fajitas and my husband ordered what he was craving, huevos rancheros. Our kids got their standby quesadilla with black beans and chicken taco. It did take a bit longer than expected(which probably means everything was cooked to order) but even with a few random requests everything was exactly as we wanted. Even my kids cleaned their plates and earned their tiny bags of teddy grahams. Why three stars? While we couldn’t complain about anything(our server was also very nice and accommodating), the food was boring. Three-star food. That’s probably why my kids ate everything, but I expect a little more. Even the hot salsa was at most a medium. We did have an entertainment coupon, which made our meal very reasonable. Otherwise though, while we couldn’t complain about much, it doesn’t really warrant a return visit.

Good tacos and a very good menu all the way around. Been coming for years and consistently great! Love the décor and service is usually prompt. My favorite Mexican restaurant over all. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

This place is what I’ve been searching for since I’ve moved to Kansas City. Very reasonably priced and delicious food all around. Service was also incredible on a Friday night. I will drive the extra twenty minutes to eat here from now on.

Ive always had a great experience here till last night. A friend and I went up for beers and tacos. We sat at the bar which I have never done, it took the bartender 10 minutes to get us a beer, we then ordered hard shelled tacos and got soft shells, had to order another round of beers 3 times just to get 1 round, asked for the tab and it took him another 10 minutes. There were only 5 other people at the bar but he was on his phone most of them time laughing and talking. It wont stop me from going back because I love their food but Ill be at a table next time.

My wife craves Mexican food! She could eat it every day if she could. We were out and about looking at houses when my wife says, ‘We *have* to get Mexican food today.’ I came across this gem when looking for Mexican in the area and we were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed about DOS Reales is the space. Maybe it was because they had the doors open to seat people outside due to the nice weather, but this place felt open and spacious. I liked it! We were sat quickly and got our menus and chips and salsa. The chips were served warm, which is a bonus. There were two salsas served. I asked the server which was the spicier one. She said that they weren’t really spicy to her, but the chunkier one had chunks of jalapeño, so that might be it. She was correct in that the chunkier salsa was the spicy. My wife stuck with the smoother salsa, which was good. I even tried it. Not too shabby. Of course, we had to order the cheese sauce, which was superb! Cheesy with a little bite. Very nice. For our entrees, she got the chicken chimichanga, her usual test meal. I went waaay off my normal and got pollo con mole. Both were excellent! The chicken was really good. The beans were tasty and my wife liked the rice. There was more on the plate than we could eat. 2 chimis on the plate for my wife and lots of chicken smothered in mole sauce on mine. Good food and filling. My only ding, but not costing a star, was that when we were done, it took a while for the server to come by. It was a slow Sunday afternoon and she and another server were sitting in a booth chatting. I had to make eye contact with her to let her know we were ready for boxes and the ticket. This wasn’t bad enough to sour me on this place. Excellent place! One worth revisiting to try more items on the menu.

Great service! Came here for dinner and had the carne asada tacos and they were delicious. The service was great we had multiple servers get us refills, I will definitely be making a trip back here!

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants by far… If you’re looking for the best salsa, Mexican rice, and refried beans, this is your place! And the food comes out fast, which is great when you have kiddos!

Really good. I love this place and It is my go to mexican resturant. Chips and salsa are the best, always fresh. The service is outstanding I’ve been many times and always had attentive waitstaff. I really like the shrimp tacos, they are always well prepared and reasonably priced for shrimp in kansas. You can expect good portions here, not the cheapest place around(by no means expensive) but it is the best value for your money. Also, I know that this company is involved in the local community, which for me is a huge plus.

Love the fresh salsa and the chips are nice and crispy. For dinner my date got a combination platter with a chicken burrito, chicken taco, and beans and rice. I got the green chicken enchiladas. Both of us cleaned our plates. I will say though that the communication barrier was really steep. I am gluten-free by way of allergy and when I asked about my dish(which I was 95% sure would be fine to eat as is) I was told the whole entrée had gluten in it. I was flabbergasted and immediately concerned about everything I had already eaten that I was pretty sure was fine. I fumbled trying to find a new entrée and eventually amid this a manager who spoke English walked by and I was able to ask him the GF question. He told me that everything was fine with that dish so I took him at his word and I didn’t get sick, so clearly things were fine. Its just really hard to be confident when you’re getting such mixed messages and I’m sure its just a language barrier deal. Nobody’s fault but just a bit nerverackig for those of us with allergies trying to be conscious.

Not my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, not the worst either. It has gotten better over the last couple of years. My favorite dishes include Enchiladas Rancheras, Carnitas, & Habanera. The chips and salsa are wonderful! Thin chips and two kinds of salsa(chunky medium and smooth mild.) Sadly there is no hot salsa. They have good guac, and their cheese dip is pretty good as well. In the Spring and Summer, they have an «open air» seating area that is half in, half outside. Interesting.

I love Dos Reales. Servers are always gracious and helpful.. .always. The food? Well, I can always find something with salsa verde here, unlike some other Mexican places. They have great lunch specials and daily margarita specials. I prefer this location over the other based on overall environment. This one is more spacious and has fancier décor. Primarily, this one has fountains and the other one doesn’t. This particular day I brought my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. I uploaded a video.

I normally have great things to say about this place! Today was a little different. It took us longer than normal to be seated. We just kinda stood there awkwardly for about 5 minutes and it seemed that no one in sight was going to come greet us for awhile. Once we were seated, I gobbled up the chips and salsa. I LOVE their salsa! Eventually I ordered the shrimp tacos, but ended up being served fish tacos. I still ate them, so I can’t complain that much. Anyway, hoping for a better experience next time.

Located in strip mall off of Quivira and 75th. We stopped here because I had to make a trip to JoAnne. We were initially greeted at the door and directed to our booth. The first woman who attended to us was unfriendly and seemed to be preoccupied. She did bring us our drink order quickly and brought menus. The second woman who attended to us was much more pleasant, attentive and professional. When our orders came out, a pleasant young man delivered them but my order was incorrect and had to be sent back. I believe this was due to the fact that the first server was preoccupied about something and not paying mind to our orders. The second server was very apologetic and my order came out perfectly. I had the cazuelada and it was remarkable. A mixture of shrimp, carne asada, chicken, chorizo served with sour cream, pico, rice and beans and tortillas… it was enough for two people and I took some of it home. Not to dwell on the initial bad service, the experience turned out well and I’m sure we will be back again.

Pretty bleh. I ordered the taco, burrito, enchilada combo and all three items came sloppy in a container. I couldn’t tell which was which. Bland flavor. Go to Fogones down the street.

We met some friends here for dinner last night and had a nice experience. Our server quickly realized that the four of us had lots of catching up to do so she provided good service without hovering and gave us lots of time to talk. My wife and I each had two margaritas and, with two entrees our bill was under $ 34. With a nice tip, we were out the door for just under 40 bucks. Servings were large and the food was tasty.

I love the atmosphere here. Large restaurant with brightly colored walls, Mexico-style décor and an indoor fountain. The service is friendly and fast and they always have great specials. Margaritas are tasty too! Have had the regular queso, spinach dip, and ay chihuahua, all great. My husband always gets the burrito bravo, which he loves. A friend gets steak fajitas, also good. I have had the enchiladas suizas — not my favorite. Too cheesy(I never even though that was possible?!) but the pound of melted queso on top of the strong Swiss cheese flavor was too much. Guadalajara Special was ok if you like lots of fried food. Tamale and nachos were good, deep fried flautas were too bland and over-fried. Tacos de carne asada are awesome — love the fresh flavor of corn tortillas, cilantro and onion. My go-to favorite is the Habanera — roasted pulled pork cooked with green peppers, onions, and tomatoes topped with cheese sauce and served fajita style with tortillas. AWESOME and perfect flavor combo! Pork is good enough to eat all by itself. Rice and beans here are both good and come with most meals. I find it hilarious that they have a menu section titled«Healthy Salads.» Judging from the descriptions, they are not healthy whatsoever as they come served in a fried tortilla shell. But I am sure they are just as tasty as all the other food here. Whenever I am craving Mexican, this is the spot!
