I went for the all you can eat. I think it’s like $ 25 per person. With that you get two sides. Our waiter alone was worth 5 stars. He was attentive, helpful, and just nice all around. I ate a total of 6 rolls and they were all delicious. I will be here at least once a month. FYI– sushi you don’t finish is like a 50cent charge per piece. So eat up or hide it well!

I would give zero stars if I could. I’ve never wrote a negative review on Unilocal but this experience propelled me to. 1. They forgot to give us our starters, 2. the rolls took forever. And 3. during our meal a red spider was walking on our table. They moved us tables but that alone is such an inconvenience. we were there for two hours. People who came after us finished before us. One roll alone took twenty minutes!!! When simply letting the manager know about our experience he VERYRUDELY said«the spider is not an issue I can show you our pest records, sushi takes long, and I’m letting you take the starters that were forgotten home and I am not allowed to do that I could lose my job. We are not a chain so that’s it.» I’ve never been treated like that. No apology. No nothing. Not sure why he is in the hospitality business if he can’t deal with people. I won’t be back and I would STAYAWAY if I were you. The sushi is mediocre. There are better sushi options out there and you go out to eat to have pleasant service and you won’t have service there.

I Always Love coming to this place, Some of my favorite rolls I find here. I Love the roll with Squid. Friendly staff, good food, a nice place to bring a crowd of people or have a party. I will keep coming to this place for ever…

No stars. I just came out from this restaurant without any order. The server, he was worst server ever in my life. No smile, VERYSERIOUSFACE to push the order, and unfriendly at all. When we asked about the menu, he seemed so rude and irritating to answer our question!

So Kansas City has a lot in the way of Sushi. In my mind, Sushi Mido is my #1. Now Sushi Mido doesn’t have the high end atmosphere that places like Nara, Drunken Fish, or Kyoto have. But what it lacks there it makes up in selection and quality. The menu is absolutely mind blowing. Every time I go in there I swear there are new things to pick from and I am always torn on what to get(because it’s all so damn good). Seriously, your head is going to spin at the roll selection alone! But here is the real kicker. For $ 23.95 you can do All-You-Can-Eat, 7 days a week! Yup, no matter what day it is you can get your 5th deadly sin on! So my recommendation is to get a bunch of your friends and head over to Sushi Mido. Four to Six or even more, all ordering the all-you-can-eat, is going to allow you to ascend into sushi nirvana. Seriously, Sushi Mido is where you want to go when you want Sushi in KC. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where she counts(Sushi Mido made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs)!

You sure wouldn’t expect a restaurant as nice as this to be in Shawnee on Neiman! Very upbeat and modern, clean and great service. The«All you can eat» Sushi is a fantastic deal @ $ 23.00, we didn’t do it but the tables around us did, all I can say is wow!

Pretty Americanized, even by Americanized standards. We always end up with the same server, who is fine. But he like, SERIOUSLY pushes us to order the all-you-can-eat sushi(that’s ‘AYCE’ for you acronym aficionados). The first time I went, I determined the AYCE to not be worth the $ 23.95 price. The reason being that I typically eat two rolls, and even if the rolls are $ 12.00 each(which they aren’t), you’re only breaking even. AND they claim to have a policy in place where you have to pay an additional $.75 for uneaten pieces you ordered LOL. AND it gets you half price on sashimi orders, but Sushi Mido has the worst sashimi I’ve had in Kansas City. Er, Shawnee. The Kansas City area, I mean. The tuna is extremely tough and chewy, and not smooth at all. The AYCE feels like a gimmicky sales tactic, complete with the pushy salesman. Like, he judged me for not doing the AYCE, because I mean, heaven forbid. Also, a visit here always seems to take a long time because they’re constantly making rolls for you with the AYCE. Like one time there were three of us, and between the three of us ordering different rolls at different times, we’d have long lulls where we’re just waiting on another roll to be made. I have entirely too much social anxiety to be carrying conversations like that during dinner. The actual sushi itself is average, thus the average rating. If you get the one guy server who seems pushy, you’ll know who I’m talking about. Enjoyment: 2⁄5 Sushi: 2.5÷5 Word of the Day: All-You-Can-Eat

This place is a hidden gem! The staff is always very knowledgable & helpful and the sushi is outstanding. We have been here 4 times now & it’s «our spot» now for sushi — midnight fantasy, tiger roll, nieman, & Snow White is a must!

I don’t understand how this place has 4 stars. This is my second review of this place and I’m going to have to say wow, disappointed. We went on Valentines day so initially I was trying to have mercy on the busy establishment. Our server was good, a little awkward but did his job well. The crab Rangoon appetizer was tasty but took forever to come out but as I said, understandable they were very busy. The sushi sucked. We order 3 rolls. They were all very tiny. The dragon roll which was fried so it stayed together however I thought it was yucky.(No raw fish in that one) The other 2 rolls we ordered contained uncooked fish, the mango roll and the spicy something. Anyhow the mango roll was not supposed to have the little red crunchy fish eggs on it but it did and made it taste just like the other one.(BLAND) The rolls were so poorly put together all of our raw fish sushi fell apart as we tried to eat it. Seriously our plates looked like a sushi explosion… it was irritating. It’s not like we are helpless with chop sticks we eat sushi frequently at other places. All in all the sushi was bland and poorly made we will not be back. The crab Rangoon was better than the sushi. I love sushi and this place is 10 minutes from my house and we will not eat there again. Too many other options and worth the drive.

Food is definitely more than three stars, but the overall experience was only worthy of the 3. First: we walk in the door, in almost mid February. It’s cold outside. First thing you want to feel is warmth. It was so cold, all of the customers were still wearing their coats. This really lessened the whole experience. We found a little comfort in a hot sake. The wait staff: our server was friendly, but rough and a little unpolished for a sushi bar. It was 9 on a Saturday, and still pretty busy, so the wait for our sushi order was long. Our fellow diner ordered the udon noodle soup, which he got AFTER we received and had eaten most of our sushi. But… the food was really tasty. I will probably give it another try next trip to KC.

It’s just the best every time. Lunch specials that aren’t sushi related are fantastic as well. Today, I had the teriyaki salmon with broccoli and mushrooms and it was just the best. Throw in a double serving of the best hot and sour soup in town with it all for less than $ 10 after tax? Perfect.

All-you-can-eat Sushi? Hell Yeah! Food: Great Sushi is made fresh as it is ordered, I sat at the bar and watched them putting rolls together non-stop. Service: Amazing Sitting at the bar I had the opportunity to watch the wait staff pick up orders. Not only are the employees behind the bar knowledgeable about their craft but the wait staff know their sushi as well. With a quick glance I witnessed corrections from the wait staff on the plating of dishes. I received regular updates on my orders readiness, 8 rolls just for me. The wait was a little long but understandable given the place was full to capacity

I’ve come here several times and always had decent sushi. I would say that their yellowtail and scallion roll and spicy salmon crunch roll are the best things I’ve tried on the menu, although I’ve had other rolls that were good as well. My coworkers and I have always been seated right away without much problem getting a table. Not bad for a lunch stop.

Came to eat here with three of my cousins. The restaurant opens for the evening at 4:30, we arrived at 4:50-ish, and it had already started getting busy! Luckily we were sat pretty quickly(maybe a 10 minute wait.) Definitely come as close to opening as possible if you want to get seated quickly! The all-you-can-eat comes with two appetizers per person. I chose the crab rangoon and salad – both delicious! My cousins and I had not eaten all day so we could really get our money’s worth for the AYCE; we ended up eating 22 rolls! I told my cousins not to order so many because there is a 75 cent/piece charge for unfinished sushi, but somehow we managed! Some of the rolls were good and some were just okay. I would recommend the Snow White roll! It was definitely my favorite out of all the ones we ordered. I was surprised to see sashimi was not included with the AYCE. I’m from Cincinnati and the one we have does include sashimi so that was a bit of a let down. The service was slow, but it is understandable. The restaurant was packed by the time we put our order in, so I can imagine our server was spread pretty thinly. The rolls took a long time to come out, but like I said, the restaurant was very busy so the sushi chefs had a lot of orders I’m sure! Our server was very friendly and helpful too. Overall, I enjoyed my experience tonight. I am in Kansas City visiting family for the holidays, so I’m not sure if I’ll ever be back to this establishment. However, if I did live closer, I could see myself coming back every once in a while to get my sushi fix!

So the restaurant opens at 12 on Sundays, but that means 12:00 according to the Sushi Mido clock, not according to the iPhone clock, any atomic clock, or the«Okay google, what time is it?» clock. That means they don’t open until 12:12, which means they’ll let you come inside, but you will stand around for 12 minutes before they seat you or anyone else. So you arrive(12:00). You’ll be seated(12:12). You get your drinks and place your order(12:15). And you’re not upset because things seem to be going okay. But then you wait. And wait. Someone in your party will have ordered an entrée from the kitchen, and they’ll get theirs, but you won’t get your sushi(12:50). You sit and wait for your sushi. And wait. And wait. People who came in after you have their food. And then you get up and ask for the drinks and kitchen entrée check and tell them to cancel your sushi order because it’s been over an hour since you arrived, and your sushi hasn’t come yet(1:05). And then the waiter tries to argue with you and tell you that you can’t cancel your order. And then you pay with cash for the kitchen entrée because you don’t want to give your credit card since you’re worried they will do something shady. And then you leave(1:10).

The only sushi place I’ve been to in the KC area and they haven’t given me any reason to try another. Their all-you-can-eat sushi is an excellent deal if you come hungry and want to try some of their different rolls. They have a large selection of specialty rolls to choose from so even if you’re not a huge fan of raw fish, there are plenty of options for you. My favorites are the Tiger Roll and the Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll. Of course the only downside is that you cannot take your leftovers and there is a charge for leftover pieces of sushi. However, the deal works out great if you are with one or more people also doing the all-you-can-eat sushi. I HIGHLY suggest taking a look at the menu before going if you do decide to do the all-you-can-eat sushi. The paper menu they give you does not show descriptions of each roll but their online menu does give full descriptions even of their specialty rolls(the descriptions are also in the large menus they give you at the table).

Visited Sushi Mido with my brother while we were passing through KC. Not a bad place. The sushi was overall good. The all-you-can-eat is a good deal if you can eat at least 4 rolls; otherwise, it’s a not such a good deal. The desert roll isn’t very good. I’d pass it up. The service was slow, but that worked out in our favor because by the time the next roll came, we were already hungry for it.

I love this place and the food was supurb and the price right, but, the parking, there’s no excuse for having as much trouble as we had, in finding a parking place. I’ll probably look for another place but I sure did enjoy what I had there. When you have to worry about where your car is parked, it puts a big dent in the enjoyment factor. Our server was excellent even though she appeared to be stretched too thinly.

The wife and I stopped in for some local sushi on a Friday night before the rush, got a seat in the corner and ordered a large spread as it had been a few months since I got to indulge in sushi. The dressing on the salad is as good as any that serve the soy ginger. But who cares, what’s the sushi like? It’s pretty fantastic! An amazing spread cost 55ish, that’s crazy. If I had my druthers with sushi I prefer nigiri or sashimi but I get why they don’t do that. The rolls fall apart pretty easily but I can also dismiss that as they bust out some serious food pretty quick and it looks very appetizing. If I want a volume spread of sushi I will stop in here anytime.

Sushi Mido, fame seems to have gone to your head. It’s been a while, I know, but this does not justify your two roll lunch special increasing in price. Also, the maki rolls just were not flavorful and they were smaller. Service was great, so two stars for that. I will give you another try, but the price was not due to an «off» day. I had my dear sushi-loving friend meet me here to celebrate her birthday, and I was a little embarrassed, as you did not live up to the bragging she had heard from me. Her beef and broccoli was tough and the crab stick was imitation. Yikes! Have you heard of Sushi Uni? They are closer to me.
