Van’s Pig Stand

Yes. I was writing my review while at vans on highland, allow to state that my dining experience was not unique to this one particular night, many times over the years that I’ve lived in Shawnee I keep going back hoping that the experience would be better but my experience is consistent always poor service always staff that most of them look like they’re on dope or don’t care that you’re even there the prices are through the roof for the quality of food that I get, I would expect higher standards at Van flagship store but sadly they lack I usually keep my dining experience with Vans limited to the store on Harrison Street and then its only for lunch specials because everything else is way too overpriced.
It may seem like I’m just complaining about the prices but the food quality is poor at best, I had ribs there that are pretty much burnt bones I’ve had Van baked potatoes better well over cooked to the point of being burnt so yeah I’m just probably keep avoiding it may be at the future some point when I forgotten about it I’ll go in remind myself again sometime in the later future but as for now no I’m not a vans diner anymore

Great ribs! This place is an institution; I always look forward to visiting Shawnee and getting real BBQ at Van’s.

I tried to give this place 4 stars but I really can’t justify not giving 5. It was delicious BBQ!
I was crossing the country from Vegas to Atlanta in a small airplane and decided to stop at Shawnee Airport for fuel. The guy pumping the gas recommended I go here and I did.
I got the 3 meat platter (I chose hot link, chicken, and ribs) which came with 2 sides (I chose fries and collard greens), and it came with Texas Toast.
If you’re in the area, this is a must!

This place was all it was cracked up to be. Sausage and brisket were top notch and curly fries were very good. My sister ordered a spud topped with meat and they were kind enough to swap out a different meat when she got the plate and realized she ordered the wrong one. She tried to pay and they wouldn’t have it! Great people and great food!

Properly cooked ribs will not just fall off the bone! But I guess you really have to consider your community and what they want and need. As a visitor to Shawnee I did notice that there may be a lot of the customers that don’t have the proper teeth to eat properly cooked ribs. This may be the reason the rib meat is extra soft and you can num num num it into a meat paste.
My experience, As with a majority of the eating establishments around here the food was OK. The price resembles food of high quality and wonderful customer service which is far off from what I was exposed to here.

This bbq isn’t what I’m used too. Although, alot of friends of mine love this place. It isn’t my cup of tea.
