Got home from work in the morning and noticed this place got it’s first review! I had never heard of Bijou before and I do love me some fancy chocolates! I became curious and after doing a little research, I add it to my list of things to do for the day. After a short 4 hour nap I started my day, Bijou was number one on my list! After driving down two different roads and not finding it, I was worried but once I got back on the main road a short time later I saw a sign for it! It’s a bit funny that one of the roads I went down confused me and I turned around even though I was very very close to the shop. I got 6 chocolates, some cinnamon tea, chocolate pretzels and a lemon cake dessert. Over the course of the night, I tried all the treats I got! The chocolates that I have tried so far were wonderful, my favorite so far is the milk and honey. I have three more left to enjoy later this night! The lemon cake was great, light and airy cake with a sweet lemony crème that made me want another piece! I liked the chocolate pretzels but one of my favorite things about chocolate pretzels is chocolate + salt flavor and these pretzels were a little lacking in the salt department. I adore the tea, it has a great flavor, upon brewing it was thinking by the smell of it, it was going to be strongly tasting of cinnamon but it was perfectly balanced! On a Interesting personal note: after trying out a lot more elegant chocolates I have developed a appreciation for dark chocolate while when I was younger I wouldn’t even eat it! I will surely be back(maybe in the next 2 weeks?) to try more of the chocolates and pastries!

One of my new favorite shops in the Shelburne area! Family owned and operated by Kevin, Laura, and Rowan, Bijou Fine Chocolate’s space is friendly, inviting, and open. Their chocolates are all hand crafted and their presentation is one of the most delicate and have such attention to detail. Favorites here include the chocolate dusted almonds, and chocolate covered pretzels. And this chocolatier also makes cakes, truffles, tarts, caramels and more delightfully inspired treats… I’m excited to get back and try enjoy fully enjoy their space with some tea time and indulging chocolates! From what I’ve seen, they also have wine sampling from time to time and I hope to get in for one soon. Bijou’s chocolates make for a wonderful gift for others or treat for yourself!
