I have sent my mother flowers and plants several times and they have arrived on time and in good condition. My mother recently sent me an orchid plant following major surgery because of our good experience in the past. When it arrived it was already dropping flowers and had no buds. When I examined it more closely the stems had been trimmed – possibly to fit in the box, and it continued to drop blossoms. I have grown orchids for years and this is not typical. I called the company and spoke to a nice customer service rep who offered to send a replacement plant. I offered to send pictures of the plant and when I did I noticed insects on the plant and in the planting medium(sphagnum moss). The plant was very wet. The next day I had a call from calyx – they couldn’t send orchids to California. I asked if they could send another type of plant and was told«no» they wanted to send me a bouquet. What color did I like? I really wanted a plant but agreed, if they could send a bouquet that would last more than a few days. He said he would order a «hardy» bouquet. My husband was upset and called them back. They agreed to send a different kind of orchid plant. They called back the next morning and told me they couldn’t send orchids to California because the grower didn’t have the proper agriculture license. Did I want a bonsai? I asked if they could send an azalea instead? She said she would send two blush pink azaleas. By this time the original orchid was rotting because of it still being too wet. The next day I received the«hardy» bouquet – dendrobium orchids including dyed blue ones. Two days later several of the stems are dead or dying(mostly the blue ones). Today I received two gardenia plants that are weeks away from blooming. I’m done with this company. Good intentions but poor execution.

I order far in advance for a 2÷12÷14 delivery. On 2⁄13 I call to ask what happened. I am told the shipment was damaged and because of the storm no replacement is possible. I ask when, exactly, they were going to call me? It was already 3pm Pacific the day AFTER delivery was scheduled and the day BEFORE valentines. I am told they did not know about the non-delivery until I called. I ask with incredulity if they have no mechanism in their system to note that a scheduled delivery wasn’t made. They say no. I am irate. Finally, after a hold, I am put in touch with a manager. She answers«Can I help you?». What do you mean I ask, haven’t you been filled in on the situation. Yes I have. Then why in hell would you begin the conversation like that. She was unapologetic, disinterested, and showed no willingness to accept blame. A frightful attitude. I should have been offered a generous credit. At the very least a sincere apology. At this price point they should have luxury service as well. I will never use them again.

I have used this service for years and feel the other review was simply unfair and obviously uneducated about flowers. The excellent service is what makes this luxury service. There flowers and bouquets are unique with often difficult to find flowers and plants with fantastic service. Anyone who knows anything about flowers will tell you this is a top notch florist, not the dinky cheap flowers everyone else sells. While I have had an incident when the flowers arrived which were less than ideal but given that they are shipped in summer heat in south, I give them a pass. The customer service is unmatched and so easy, this is worth more than I can say. It is rare and appreciated!

While I was doing my MBA there was a Harvard business school case study about this company. Back around 2002. Interesting case that was. About this independent pioneer luxury flower company… and the question was whether the company will survive in that harsh market environment. I really really liked the company back then and I really really wanted it to succeed. Well, the company did survive. But what a DISASTER its flowers has been through the years! Current name — Calyx Flowers I recommended this company to one of my friends once and he ordered flowers for his wife for Valentines and they came in not fresh — she almost killed him. They divorced since then. I bought from C&C myself maybe 5 – 7 times… because I was naïve I guess. Never ever the flowers or banzai trees I ordered were perfect — not fresh or vases too small compare to the flowers or the quality of orchids not better than Home Depot. This company makes no sense to me. I don’t think it should exist.

I’ve only had the best experience with this company — quality products and quality service and I’ve been using them for years. Thanks for carrying interesting arrangements I’m proud to send to people I care about.

I have never heard of this online«luxury» florist until Valentine’s Day, when I received a huge box at work– which contained a red satin hat box with two dozen pink and red short stemed roses in a red vase. While beautifully packaged, most of the roses were brown on top because they were smushed in the red satin hat box that they arrived in. When I went to put the roses in water, I was pricked by all the thorns on the stems. Not luxurious at all. I got on the phone and called the company and explained to them the situation– twenty minutes later my problem was resolved and a new bouquet would be shipped to me next week. Service excellent, floral quality poor, so beware if you plan to send something for your sweetie from this site!
