My husband and I visited this Deli/market twice in the past two weeks. The first time out of curiosity and the second time because my husband really liked the Indian food. He liked the food and variety of what was offered, I tried the rice, white, and the cook had done a great job of achieving rice that was cooked properly. .and looked great, each kernel seperated rather than clumped together. If you want rice you pass your container to the cook, then you can put any of three variaties of dal or a vegetarian or chicken stew on it. Their homemade pateries are good and reasonable. Today my husband had more of the indian food, 2 medium containers of it and I had a wrap vegi sandwich, which was good. We had maple cremees and a piece of coffee cake that we purchaed later again good. I think the pricing got a little muddled taking it from the deli counter to the cashier who was a very nice, but giggly teen… so figure out how much you owe before you get to the cashier, since they have three different size containers for the Indian food, she told us some are by the weight and some are by the size, the next time we go in I will pay more attention to pricing.

Took a chance on this place after a day at the Shelburne Museum. This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but the sandwiches we got were big, fresh and very tasty. We ate sitting at a small table in the middle if the store, not much for atmosphere which is why I gave only 4 stars.

Went here today with my father. Wasn’t expecting much. He really loves it, goes out of his way to shop here, but he sometimes has odd taste. ;) For a general store the space was very open. Usually such stores have more aisles and are more packed with stuff. Fresh-baked scones and coffee cake were at the front register. They looked good. Went to the back counter to get a sandwich made and was very surprised to see along with sandwich offerings a lot of fresh Indian food. Not what one expects from a general store in Shelburne. My dad had some lentil vegetable stew. Delicious. The five or six other Indian offerings smelled and looked great and were all freshly made by the young owner who mans the deli case. It’s hard to get good Indian food in Vermont. Perhaps impossible until now. He says his is British Indian food and if so am even more intrigued. I lived in London for a year and it’s an amazing place to get such food. I am very excited to have discovered this fascinating little place. I encourage anyone who is in Shelburne and wants to try something different and new to check it out for lunch. Also, my sandwich was great. It’s hard to get fresh avocado in delis locally. Our whole meal was very affordable. They also sell wine, drinks and other normal general store stuff.
