Staying at Willow Pond Farm is like being a guest in someone’s lovely home and, well, you are guests in Zita & Sawyer’s home. Also in residence is their charming 4-yr old cocker spaniel named Ebie(short for Ebenezer). I never heard him bark and rarely even saw him. From the deck, there is a view of mountains as well as the pond and gardens that guests are free to explore. Willow Pond Farm is in a quiet, country setting yet 10 min. from Shelburne and 15 – 20 min. from Burlington. You will not hear cars or traffic; you’ll hear the soft singing sounds of summer at night. The house is very clean, well decorated and comfortable. Two of the three bedrooms have their own bath, but with access in the hall. So the bath is yours, but not in the room(en suite). The hosts provided full bottles of good quality shampoo, conditioner and soap. Bedroom 3 has an en suite bath and is the largest and most private bedroom. You won’t get cable TV. In fact, only Rms. 1&3 have their own small TV with a few network stations. You won’t get WiFi or a computer to borrow and you won’t miss them. You will get lots of books, beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful hosts and a delicious breakfast to keep you going until well into the afternoon. I was here for 4 nights. The various breakfasts all started with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola; coffee or tea and juice. One day I was treated to Zita’s homemade rhubarb sauce for the yogurt. Next is the hot part of the meal: blueberry pancakes; Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream; ham & cheese omelet with fluffy biscuit and Zita’s homemade strawberry jam; bacon or ham on the side. The rooms are not air conditioned, however, with the ceiling fan, it was comfortable sleeping. Zita was happy to wash out my travel cup, store blue ice for my lunch cooler, and keep leftovers in the fridge. One evening, I brought dinner back to the house and ate on the deck while watching hummingbirds dine at their feeder. The Bread & Butter Farm nearby has Burger Night each Monday and Friday evening in the summer with their own beef along with local music. There is a bakery and farm store here. The only thing missing on my visit was my husband. Next time I return to Willow Pond Farm, I hope he comes with me. I know he’ll enjoy the stay. (You will notice I entered the name of the business incorrectly as Willow Farm B&B and have not been able to get that corrected. That’s why in my review, I’ve been calling it by it’s real name, Willow Pond Farm B&B.)
