Food was good as always. Waiter was excellent. Management was efficient. A very good dinning experience.

Decided on a close restaurant, and Bertucci’s fit the bill. But not only for logistical reasons but in the past the food has been«good». But the best thing was always the great rolls. But when we got there and finally got a basket of rolls they were not the same. Dry and unappetizing. I agree with others that the portions have gotten very small. You definitely won’t be bringing any food home. It appears it has gone downhill and a little expensive for what you got. Bring back the awesome rolls!!!

This was not the best Bertucci’s I’ve visited. Service was very slow, the rolls were cold and my food was lukewarm. A huge disappointment. I won’t be back here.

Food was ok, waitress was nice. However, the bartender was extremely rude and unprofessional!

Good experience. Been here on several occasions but the food is not homemade or even homemade tasting so therefore it’s overpriced. But a good stop for lunch

The menu changes too frequently without positive results. We go here because it is close, and my daughter likes the pizza. We have a better time for less money at the KFC in Ansonia. The manager gave us three 15% off coupons tonight(after we already paid) but we could have gotten these on the website for free. My husband’s lasagna was really dry, and not as good as the frozen lasagna we pick up at Walmart. I ordered rigatoni abruzzi as I have liked it in the past — they changed the recipe, and it tasted more like sausage and peppers. It is really not worth the trip!

Stay away! Been here a few times in the past this last experience will be my last. Entire family got sick from food.

Seriously how long does it take to get a meal? Waiting over an hour is a bit excessive! The food was gross when we got it too. It was pretty tasteless, the water tasted better. Congrats Bertuccis… you didn’t screw up the water! Our waitress was nice. She felt bad that the restaurant she works for is terrible. The manager did come out and apologize for the wait and the food. He didn’t make us pay for the terrible tasting meal since we didn’t eat it. That was nice of him. Not sure I would give it a second chance though.

Stay far away from this place. Food was awful and overpriced. How do you ruin a chicken Caesar salad? I have no idea. Ordered the jambalaya and my noodles were under cooked and stuck together as if they have been sitting our for hours. The portions were so small I thought I was eating off the kids menu. Only saving grace to this restaurant is that the staff was extremely nice. Sorry Bertucci’s but I will never ever dine with you again.

I know it’s a chain but it’s close to my hotel so I stopped by. Wasn’t disappointed at all. One Zinfandel on the menu so I ordered it and enjoyed its aroma. The waitress brought out bread and oil. Wow. Go just for this. The oil must have had butter mixed in. Really good! I ordered a pasta baked in a wood fired oven. The portion was right and it came out hot with some charred edges. Just like it should be. I would recommend it if you happen to drive by and see it. Three stars because it’s good, but average. Might have given them four stars except they use paper napkins instead of cloth. Not a huge deal to some but it does make a difference.

DON’T GOHERE! Went here last night with a friend. I have been to this location in years past and never had a good meal. The waiter came over and greeted us and said if we wanted to celebrate a Saturday night then order a drink off the menu. The night went downhill right after that. We each ordered a drink, I ordered a glass of malbec. The wine came with lip crud on the outside of the glass and it was a lot of dried crud. I asked for a new glass of wine. The waiter apologized and brought it back to the bar. The next thing my partner sees the bartender pour the dirty glass of wine into a clean glass while the waiter watched. He brings the wine back to me and we told him no thanks after what we just saw. The manager apologized and offered to replace the wine but after that I didn’t want anything. If I was alone I would have walked out. I really can’t believe the bartender did this and the waiter thought it was ok too. I ordered a grilled chicken with pasta with an alfredo sauce. I don’t expect much when I go to a chain restaurant but I couldn’t find any sauce. The pasta was barely coated with«alfredo» sauce. It lacked flavor too. I almost sent it back but didn’t want to make waves anymore and just wanted to eat and get out of there. Do yourself a favor, there are so many other Italian restaurants in the area, stay away from Bertucci’s and find a local Italian joint!

Really Really Really small portions. Way overpriced for what you get. Outstanding website for ordering for pickup. Almost good enough for me to order from then again. Almost.

FYI, The description above states«Alcohol: No» but they have a full bar which is where I had dinner on Friday night. I had the Bertucci pizza(small) and devoured it. As a rule of thumb I think it’s best to stick with the house specialty unless you know the particular location.

I’ve been to many Bertucci’s & this one is ok. I was here surprisingly twice in one month. The first time(recently) the food/service was very good. Everything was good all the way around, can’t say anything bad. Second time, the food was good, but service was less than ok. Waitress was slow, we had to ask her for more water, more bread/oil, cheese, etc… come on do you really expect a decent tip… w/service like that? So overall, I’ll come back & just be picky w/my server, I’ll have no qualms about«refusing» a particular server. I’m not expecting extra clever service, but just reasonable… I mean it is Bertucci’s…but I’m not going to wait/beg for simple things either. :)

I’m no huge fan of Bertucci’s, but this particular bertuccis was awful. The service was half-competent, although all changes to our food(light on the sauce, extra cheese) were completely ignored. The food here just kinda blows.

I learned a valuable lesson after going to Bertucci’s… When you live in Fairfield County you should go to any of the many authentic Italian restaurants. Besides that discovery, Bertucci’s is a decent place with alright food, but for Italian food I go elsewhere.

I usually don’t review chains because you usually know what to expect… consistent, commercial food. However, this experience at the Shelton Bertucci’s was quite unique. I visited recently along with my Mother. She likes Italian food, and Bertucci’s is pretty good and predictable in quality/service. She ordered the sausage & peppers sandwich, and I ordered one of the specials with ham, roasted zucchini, onion, and balsamic nectar. The food was good. The service was pretty good, but the utensils were filthy. I was ready to tear into a hot roll, unwrapped my silverware, and noticed both forks were covered with dried food. One of my Mother’s forks was also dirty. I went to the next table and took 2 more sets. I was OK at that point… hot rolls, olive oil, butter, and CLEAN utensils. They deliver my Mother’s dish with a bowl of soup… and the soup spoon clearly had leftover chocolate on it. I was steaming hot, and I put it on the table for the server to pick up. I gave a reasonable tip because he was pleasant, but the server never apologized for the dirty silverware. He just asked if everything was OK. Sometimes being in denial does not help. I immediately sent a note via the website as this was just unacceptable. I’m not saying I won’t visit Bertucci’s again… but definitely not this location. If the silverware was covered in such crud, I wonder what else is that we don’t know about. Too bad for them.

I hate chains, but I also hate driving out to try a new place late at night, just to find out that they’re closed. Not wanting to chance it recently, I decided to settle on Bertucci’s in Shelton, by the corporate district. It’s never a good thing when I’m saying«settle» before I even walk in your door, but it’s even worse when I say I’m never going to «settle» there again. Maybe it’s my fault; I did go in an hour before closing. I mean, once someone gets to within an hour of closing, that really means they’re closed, and it’s MY fault that I interrupted their down time, right? How dare I enter just before 9PM when they’re closing at 10! I didn’t get any appetizers, but got a chicken parmigiana with spaghetti, and a minestrone soup. The soup was not very good, and even worse, only came out somewhat lukewarm; it’s like they’d taken the soups off, and when my order came in they didn’t even have the integrity to put my soup in the microwave for a minute. Then I got my entrée. On the one hand, the chickn was good; it was nice and soft. On the other hand… This deserves it’s own paragraph. The sauce is the worst I’ve *ever* had; this is a statement made with no hyperbole. It was exceptionally bitter, and worse, was watered down, to the point where I had to ask for grated cheese specifically so that I could use it to not only add some flavour, but also to soak up some of the WATER on my plate. I would have been better off stopping at a supermarket down the road, buying some cheap store-brand, and bringing it in to serve myself. In addition to that, the spaghetti was rubbery, like they overcooked it. I would have been able to tolerate this and chalk it up to a bad night in the back if my waitress was good. Unfortunately, she was all but useless, and spent most of her night getting ready to close. She only came to my table when she absolutely had to, and there was a time — when I was waiting for the cheese that I would use to soak up the Marinara River — when I spent ten minutes literally looking at her, and looking very much like someone that would like some service. She outright ignored me, and when she did come to my table, had a demeanour that made it be known that I was inconveniencing her. It’s not even like they were busy; I was one of three tables, and I was eating alone. Needless to say, I left a paltry — especially by my standards — tip, and hope she finds another line of work for everyone’s sake. I typically only eat at a chain restaurant if there’s no better alternative, which is what brought me to Bertucci’s in the first place. I have to say that this experience has led me to cross not only this restaurant, but the entire chain off of my list of places that I’ll eat at. Though I’m sure some boring, corporate drone that I’ll have the misfortune of having to deal with in the future will surely compel me to eat at another one of their restaurants through sheer lack of imagination, I can confirm that I will never eat at the Shelton location ever again.

Bertucci’s, as with most restaurants in the chain, is a solid italian-style restaurant with good pasta dishes, excellent bread, and tasty thin-crust pizza. What sets this one apart is a friendly, competent staff who are always concerned about your experience. While not hovering, the waiters and waitresses are always ready to bring more rolls, refill your glass, or do whatever is required to ensure a good dining experience. I highly recommend the pasta dishes, but am not as crazy about the pizza. Always a good choice for a good meal.
