Steak should not be taken lightly. There’s a reason why over a billion people in India regard cows so highly… I’m not sure exactly why, but I’m going to assume it’s because steak tastes so damn good. Restaurants who serve«steak» without the proper reverence or attention to detail have a special place in hell. Luckily, Bob’s pays proper homage and respect to steak. When I first heard the name, I’ll admit — the less-than-creative restaurant name gave me plenty of doubts. Our friends convinced me otherwise, and I’m so glad they did. The service was stellar; our waiter, Mike, was very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. When I asked for recommendations and details on certain items on the menu, he gave just the right amount of information and personal preferences without droning on forever. My wife had the prime filet medallions and I had the Cote de Boeuf bone-in ribeye. I normally order steak medium-rare, but Mike convinced me to order my entrée medium and he was spot-on. My wife’s medallions tasted wonderful, and my ribeye was perfectly marbled, crusted, and cooked. The decision to not eat the entire steak at the cost of overfilling my stomach to painful levels was very difficult. The salads we had were good(they offer half-sized portions, thankfully), and the mashed potatoes were very good. My skillet potatoes were decent, but not great. The wine list appeared to be exceptional and should please any high-end enthusiast. I opted for martinis, so I didn’t spend much time looking to see if the list included a suitable amount of lower/medium priced wine selections. The cigar offerings were quite reasonably priced, however, and I plan on going back soon just for the cigar bar.

Excellent service and amazing food. One of the best dinners we’ve had in the Houston area. Everything from the first waiter meeting to the coffee came without delay. My 12 oz fillet was perfectly seasoned, cooked to a true medium and had a delicious crust. The big carrot was something like a yam with hints of cinnamon. The sommelier, Garrett, was very knowledgeable and the Franciscan ’12 Cab paired beautifully. The real treat was the kitchen tour guided by Mr. Poates, the General Manager. The staff was working perfectly together and every part of the kitchen was spotless. The vent hoods weren’t just clean, they were polished to a mirror shine. The food was arranged neatly in the pantry and walk in. This place is obviously cared for and is thriving for a reason. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

I went last night with my husband and really wanted to love this place. The pickles on the table as a starter was strange for fine dining. We started off with a wedge salad and a mixed green salad. Both were perfectly balanced and delicious. I had a filet with skillet potatoes and my husband had a filet with smashed potatoes. Both steaks were very underwhelming. They lacked any sort of seasoning. It had no salt whatsoever. Adding it after the fact takes away from the piece of meat. Every meal comes with a roasted carrot which is odd. It does not add anything to the meal and again, for fine dining, it was strange. The skillet potatoes are just there without any real flavor. My husband’s smashed potatoes were okay. We also tried the creamed spinach which was pretty good and was well seasoned. For dessert, we had carrot cake which was delicious. We would go back just for the carrot cake and skip everything else. Overall, for the price it was not worth it and with the other options in the Woodlands, we won’t be returning.

My husband and I usually go to another local steakhouse for celebratory dinners but decided to try something new to celebrate his 50th birthday: we’re so glad we did. I reserved online and noted on the reservation that it was my husband’s birthday. The hostess who greeted us immediately told him happy birthday and handed him a card that the whole staff had signed. Throughout the evening, everyone we interacted with wished him a happy birthday. Our server Shawn greeted us quickly and offered drink menus. He was personable and shared good insight on the menu items. We had a super minor issue with the table setting and he immediately had the bussers address the issue by resetting the table. The food was very good. The quick-pickled cucumbers and peppers are a unique touch and good. We had the Caesar and Tomato Mozzarella salads to start. Husband had the filet mignon and I had a lobster mac and cheese. GM John stopped by and suggested sriracha to go with the lobster mac: amazing! John also took the time to show us the cigar room – we’ll definitely be back for cigars and cocktails. And this may be our new celebratory place. ;-)

Awesome place for a great meal. Price is what you’d expect for fine dining but the food makes it well worth it. I usually stop in maybe once a month to meet up with some friends to have some cigars in their separate cigar room. The staff are always nice and accommodating. And they pour a solid drink when you order from the bar. Will definitely keep coming back as long as we’re welcome!

Always a favorite. Can not say enough about the lamb chops. So good! The onion rings are another great appetizer as well as the crab cakes. The service is always phenomenal and the general manager, John works so hard to make sure that everyone has the best experience every time. Highly recommend!!!

Great steak and great desserts. Loved the place. The place had a nice feel to it and we thoroughly enjoyed our food, especially the dessert. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious. I had a filet mignon and it was one of the eat steaks I have had in a while.

If you’ve never been here and you like value, service and quality then look no further! I’ll start with the positives as there really are no negatives(honestly!) 1) Food — all food cooked to perfection/great portion size/served timely and HOT! — all 4 in the party enjoyed! 2) Ambience — neat New York style/not stuffy /immaculately clean and tidy. 3) Service — manager visited and was welcoming /server was knowledgable and prompt. 4) Value — compared to direct local competition a 10 in food value(sorry Perrys!) Negatives — hmmmm… Don’t make the carrot sweet!!! I’ll be back again this place never fails to deliver.

It’s your classic steakhouse. Tender ribeye cooked just right, tasty sides, extensive scotch list, dim lighting, and friendly service. You’ll enjoy your night here.

This place is fantastic. I brought my wife here for her birthday. Greg our server and the rest of the staff did an excellent job. The bisque and filet were to die for. Probably the best we’ve ever had. We had a browny with peanut butter and chocolate ice cream was unbelievable. We will definitely be coming back.

As I’m typing this review, I realize it has been a week since I have eaten here. One thing that jumps out at me as I’m typing is I don’t remember how good the steak was. Keep in mind, I have been to several good/great steakhouses around the Houston Metro area and across the US. You gotta have a really good steak to be memorable. What that means to me is the steak at Bob’s had to be average. It was cooked as I ordered it(medium) and was tender but for the life of me, I don’t remember how it tasted. I do remember that it came with a really large whole carrot. That was a first for me. I will say that the staff did a great job. The hostess was friendly and our waiter did an excellent job with our group. There were 8 of us at our table. The manager(John) checked in with us a couple of times and was very personable. It is nice to have another upscale steakhouse in The Woodlands. I will come back and eat here. Maybe next time, it will be more memorable. I’ll also try to remember to bring a ziplock baggie with me so I can bring the carrot home to Bugs, my neighbors rabbit.

The meal was good. I had a ribeye steak medium well, the potatoes and of course the bread pudding. The bread pudding was delicious. It is a must have. The waiter, I sit at the bar was very attentive. I was there early, therefore there was a lot of waitstaff waiting for it to get busy. Would have been much better if they have a place for their staff to wait so that customers don’t have to hear their conversations.

Nice polished atmosphere. Smells of money and upper society so good for those extra special occasions. Very helpful waitstaff. Slight pampered feeling. Complimentary valet parking. Steak was cooked correctly as I requested(medium rare) and it had good flavor/seasoning. but even for a ribeye it seemed it had more fat and was tougher than a regular ribeye. We went for the first time for my boy friend’s birthday. The details such as the handwritten birthday card they had ready upon our arrival and the complimentary dessert were a great touch. Loved the skillet fried potatoes with onions and peppercorn gravy. Didn’t finish off the carrots as they had more of a candied/sweet taste whereas I would have just preferred buttered carrots. Bread pudding was very very good

Another great meal at Bob’s tonight. So glad to have made this our go to celebratory restaurant of choice in The Woodlands. Never made to feel rushed and a few weeks ago, even had the same quality of service and food while dining at the bar. Yes the carrots are huge and a conversation piece along with the jar of pickles on the table to start. Pickles remind me of those at Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor MI if you’ve ever been lucky enough to eat there! Can’t wait for another reason to return to Bob’s! On second thought… maybe no reason is necessary except for wanting a great meal with great service!

This was the best service and steak that I have ever eaten. Our waiter Steve M. was very knowledgeable and attentive. And funny also. Should have gotten his number. :) Anyway, we celebrated my parents’ 60th anniversary. Many of the staff came over to congratulate them. And we were surprised with a free appetizer and dessert. The whole meal experience lasted almost two hours and we were very comfortable. It was a bit dark but our eyes adjusted. The music, Rat Pack age, playing in the background was soothing. I am glad we chose this place over Kirby’s and Flannigans. Will keep this in mind for the next formal celebration!

This is the best steak joint in the Woodlands. That’s hands down. After making fun of the name for six months(«Bobs») we tried it – and are now there once a week. The filet is off the charts. They also have a separate cigar room that is very well done.

I’m updating my review from 3 to 5 stars, here’s why: Meagan Meagan Meagan. She personified excellent service. The reason we went back was because the owner called me and asked what he could do to get us to try again. I respect any business owner who won’t tolerate three stars and wants to do better. So, my wife and I went back. The shrimp cocktail still excellent. My wife ordered chopped salad but it’s not chopped it is leafy which defeats the whole«chopped» idea, but we ask and Meagan said the chef would do if we asked. We did not send it back and she ate it anyway but that’s weird. I had a different steak and it was pretty good. They have a signature crust, which I liked. Wine was good, they are rockin with the booze for sure. For dessert we had the in-house made chocolate cake. I have to say, being a chocolate freak, this cake suffered from what many chocolate cakes do, too much oil to make the cake moist. The best chocolate cake in Houston is from Phonecia. Not oily tasting but chocolatey and decadent. So five stars for service, great booze selection, and drive for satisfaction.
