Between a 3 – 4 on stars. I enjoyed my visit and will probably return. Not exactly what I was expecting. Okay, I ordered 3 tacos al pastor. The meat was tender and flavorful. More importantly there was a lot of it. Each taco was $ 3.75 and larger by one-half than what I get in my frequent travels in Mexico City, D. F. In my book, the price is a little high. Total bill was right at $ 12 for 3 tacos and a coffee cup size tap water. The tortillas were fresh and good. The staff was very pleasant but not all together knowledgeable about their offerings, I.e. Had no idea what type of pepper their«HOT Green Sauce,» is in it. Of course it was habeñero. I had asked my server what the restaurant recommended and he pointed out three. One was too sweet the other left me wanting more but the hot green was fantastic! I ended up getting seconds of it. They also have a really nice outdoor patio. Now, why 3 – 4 instead of a solid 4 or 5: first the minor issues above. Second I was disappointed by the taco selection. For a place that promotes itself as «authentic central Mexico,» I expected to see other offerings like tinga, barbacoa, picadillo, etc. I of course was surprised my server wasn’t more familiar with what they offer. In fairness he may have been new but I didn’t get that opinion. Finally, if I’m in the shopping center area, where they are located, I would definitely go back.

I’ve been probably five total times with my fiancée(we haven’t checked in enough though!) and every time we have tried at least one new thing, usually pastor related. We really enjoy this place as our favorite in The Woodlands for getting pastor meat tacos and alambres, and it’s very good. The prices aren’t too bad, and the location is clean, and the staff is helpful! We really enjoy the place

This isn’t your typical Tex-Mex Garbage Mess. You won’t find Cheese Wiz«Queso» or globs of melted Wisconsin cheddar cheese on a giant plate full of greasy fried food. For those familiar with street food tacos from Mexico-this is it. Ingredients and salsa’s are fresh, homemade and wonderful. Tacos are simple and service is friendly. We have quickly become weekly customers here. My surprise was the Torta. The bread is soft and chewy, lots of avocado. It was huge, delicious and true to form. The beef burrito is a hit with my kids. It had lots of guacamole, beans and savory shredded beef. For $ 8 it’s pricey. Another favorite is the shrimp taco. Yum. It was delicious and tasty. The bowls are yummy too with your choice of protein, rice and pinto beans. The chicken was a little bland, but the salsa bar is a quick fix. Al Pastor is another option but I wasn’t a fan. The secret to these«taco bars» are their Salsa Bars. In Mexico I’ve never seen lettuce on tacos but a fish taco will usually some get shredded cabbage. So, those expecting a Taco Bell«taco» will be either disappointed or educated. If you want a .99 taco go to Jack-in-the-Box or Mexico. If you can’t go to Mexico and want quick good food go to Central Taco.

Not sure if there any good. They closed at 10:00 pm I went at 10:05pm Unilocal say they are open until 12am. Another unreliable Unilocal find.

I kinda depend on Unilocal all of the time to show honest reviews before I go eat somewhere, but I’ve never actually written one myself. Can I just say, these tacos are amazing! I’m mad at myself for only getting 2. They were really good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. It’s going to be a regular lunch spot for me, I can already tell! And they gave me a little jello to go with my tacos! How nice is that?!

Stopped by for takeout while visiting from out of town. Once we were able to jump the language barrier, it was a great experience. I ordered the sea combo: two fish tacos, one shrimp taco, rice and a drink. The tacos were outstanding, and the rice was fine. I especially enjoyed the shrimp taco. I also ordered the Pastor Alambres. The grilled veggies raised the level of this to great heights. For only $ 5.75, this was a good value. We also had the guacamole and chips; chips were freshly fried, and guacamole was chunky and creamy, just like I like it. For our meal I spent less than $ 23. Overall, it was a good meal at a reasonable price.

This place is so good! The prices are right and the food tastes just like the tacos you get in Mexico City! I highly recommend it!

I moved to the area recently and have actually eaten here twice now. It’s close and convenient and an easy place to bring kids. I have now tried the fish taco, pastor taco, chicken taco, pastor burrito, and the quesadillas. Pastor burrito is my fave. Love the pastor pork and I love that the burrito has a generous amount of yummy guacamole inside. Of the tacos, I’d say fish is my favorite so far, but the pastor is good. Chicken, not so much. Rather bland actually. We always order the quesadillas for the kids, but I steal one from the basket every time. They are the perfect comfort food, absolutely stuffed with awesome yummy cheese. You can get two baskets of quesadillas for under $ 8 and that feeds my 3 kids well. I’d say that’s a good deal. The tacos are pricey considering the size. You definitely need at least two. The burrito is a good deal. I like the salsa bar in theory, but of all the varieties I actually only like the flavor of two of them. My husband ordered an alambre on our first visit and was not impressed. Super greasy and hard to eat. Overall, the place is not amazing. But if you order the right things, it’s tasty enough. Fast, friendly service. I’m sure we’ll go back. I still want to try some more things on the menu.

Oh my god this place is so underrated! It’s so deceiving because it looks like a modern Tex mex woodlands place but it was the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Texas. Really great horchata and tacos at such a reasonable price and such fast service. Staff is so sweet we got a sample of churros on the house. Highly highly highly recommend

Woodlands/Conroe folks, we have a problem. Why isn’t this place more popular?!! Great food, great location, excellent customer service. Faves are Gringa, Beef Torta, Beef Alambres, and the queso fundido. I mean, really, who doesn’t love fresh tortillas with a bowl of thick melted white cheese? The beef torta has incredible flavor! Topped with red salsa– YUM!!! Torchy’s just recently opened in the Woodlands and has been packed with a line out the door ever since.(Don’t get me wrong, I love Torchy’s) Meanwhile, Central Taco has plenty of seating, friendly faces, and delicious, authentic Mexican tacos to accommodate you. I was an inner looper for 3 years, and I must say, if this place were anywhere NEAR the loop, it’d be constantly busy. GETYOURTASTEBUDSTOGETHER, north side!

Clean, with friendly service. Ordered the torta pastor. Pretty good. Would leave the beans off next time. The pickled onions from the salsa bar really put a zip on the torta. Great spot of a quick and affordable lunch.

Tried this place for the first time today. I hardly ever complain about food. I tried 4 different tacos and all of them tasted aweful. It’s really sad because it’s a good location and close to work. I threw them all away and had my husband bring me McDonald’s for dinner. I’m really sad that this place wasn’t good :(

Quick, cheap, and good! For $ 6.22 I got the chicken torta. It came with a bag of potato chips which I thought was odd for a Mexican restaurant but that will just be a snack later! If you like spicy get the Verde sauce! They do not lie when they say it is hot!

Wow! I had high hopes! A co-worker just recommended this to me. I see that their reviews are all over the place. Maybe that means that going here is like gambling. Will you arrive on a good day? Or a bad day? The place was empty. It has a large dining area — booths and tables. It looked clean and organized, which I liked. I am a big fan of authentic Mexican food, so I knew that walking in. I initially was going to order three tacos and a drink. I realized that my total was going to be nearly $ 15 which is a LOT for what I was ordering. I had to ask if they had any combos because it wasn’t suggested or offered. I switched to a combo with 3 tacos, a bowl of rice and a drink for $ 10.00. Their tacos range in price from about $ 3.25 to $ 4.50, if I recall correctly. After getting my food, that is WAYTOOMUCH! They should be about $ 1.00 a piece! They are SOSMALL! I’m used to authentic Mexican street tacos as having 2 tortillas, a generous helping of well seasoned and delicious meats, cilantro and onion. Central Taco’s tacos come with one small, corn tortilla, and a tiny sprinkle of meat. Cilantro and Onions are optional. The Al Pastor taco comes with an very thin, tiny piece of pineapple as well(not enough). They were just WAYTOOSKIMPY on the meat. The rice with the combo was just white rice — but it was greasy white rice! How to you make white rice greasy? Plus there were dried out, crunchy grains of white rice mixed in. The saving grace of this meal was the fact that they had Coke Zero — my beverage of choice — and it tasted good. It is always a bad sign when the soft drink is the best thing you eat. I think this place has some potential if they became a little more generous with their portions and seasoned their meats a little more! I told them I was a first time customer, and unfortunately I’m now a last-time customer. If you can’t gamble at Vegas, go to Central Taco!

Pretty simple. It’s OK. But the pricing is way too high for what you get! 2 small tacos and a drink was $ 12. Could expect that from Torchy’s or somewhere that actually fills you up but these were a joke.

I had some errands to run on my lunch break and jumped into Central Taco for a quick bite before heading back to work. There was one other person in there at 12:30PM. I should have taken the hint. They are SOCLOSE to having a great little taco café here, yet so far off the mark at the same time. Commercially produced tortillas, pitiful portions(check out Albert N’s photo — that’s the same meager portion I got for $ 3.75), and a kitchen that must have forgotten to order salt make for a very disappointing experience. The meat(I tried both the beef and pastor) was actually nicely grilled, and it looked amazing, but it suffered from a total lack of seasoning. Or any flavor at all, really. The meat was a textural component apparently. The pastor was dominated by bitter notes from the charred peppers. That could be because I didn’t have a single piece of pineapple anywhere. Never had tacos al pastor without pineapple before. I guess the salsa bar is where all the flavor is, but even that’s not done properly. None of the salsas were labeled. Six choices, no labels. I picked one that I could identify by sight(tomatillo), and it was actually well done. Best part of the whole meal. What really puts these guys on the blacklist, though, is that I was still hungry after a $ 12 lunch. Not cool, Central Taco. If this is «authentic,» then give me «fake» tacos any day.

Delicious authentic Mexican tacos! Just went to this place for the first time the other day with some coworkers and plan to go back frequently. I love the BYOB concept they offer as well!

As someone who actually has eaten tacos around Houston, I’m confident telling you that Central Taco is going to disappoint you. I tried their signature Al Pastor tacos, which are my favorite type of tacos. First, the portion size was pitiful. The gentleman at the counter informed me that the $ 3.75 order of tacos was two tacos. Being hungry, I got two orders. What showed up are what anyone else would call two tacos, not four. Two corn tortillas overlapped, and served with some very brightly colored al pastor pork chunks, a miserly serving of onions, cilantro, and some pineapple chunks. The flavor of the pork didn’t live up to its bright coloration; it was almost flavorless. So we have overpriced, small portion, flavorless tacos. You can do so much better, even out here in the Woodlands area. Visit Hello Taco or La Palma; the difference is stunning.
