I have been going to Howard for at least 15 years. He is the absolute BEST with color, and excellent with cuts as well. He is FAST, but never sacrifices quality. The price is more than fair. Nice clean salon, friendly staff, great location. The best!

It’s a nice shop. Pleasant atmosphere. Similar to every other salon along every other boulevard of cosmetic dreams, but the Kurtz Salon has Eddie Leonetti. This guy is the best. He has a great sense of contemporary style and a sure touch in making it work for you. Very smart, very funny, very cool, plays great piano.

I have been going with Javier for 6 years or so, he’s an excellent hair stylish and never been disappointed with the results. My family and me love, love going with him. he fully understands the look we are looking for and get it done the way we want it. Best hair stylish in LA!

As soon as I sat in Howard’s chair, I could tell he knew hair. He saw and felt my hair and right away he was able to give me a couple suggestions that were EXACTLY in line with what I needed. A little while later, my hair looked great and a couple weeks later, it still looks great. Price point was just right. I plan on making my hair appointments with Howard.

Nikki Nishimoto does a great job with men’s hair. She is vibrant, takes her time and works very with her hands. I am very picky on who styles my hair, but Nikki has my full confidence– definitely worth trying her out!

I have been a client at Howard Kurtz Salon since 1992. I have gone to at least half a dozen stylists there over the years based on my changing needs, and have had my make up done by Gina for my wedding and photo shoots. Like at any salon, these stylists all have different specialties. That said, I have had great experiences with all of them, and they have come to feel like family.
This past week, I was BEYOND impressed with more than their talented staff, more than the warmth and care of the service, more than the ease of the parking, the fair prices, the fantastic brow waxing and make-​up by Gina, and the beautiful blow-​outs and color by Shawna. What I I was impressed with was the way the staff handled the way one, very unkind, client treated another client (me).
The salon gave me their unwavering support and in the end the other client was asked not to return to the salon. It’s not every day people are willing to speak up for others and do what is right at the risk of losing business. The five stars I am giving the Howard Kurtz Salon is for having honorable character and integrity. This salon had my loyalty before, but now it’s with my utmost respect as well.

Not only is she incredibly friendly, warm, & makes you feel right at home (oh, and she gives you yummy coffee), she’s kick ass at cuttin’ some hair! I’m not kidding… all you have to do is schedule an appt. from her, and find out. She long-​layered my hair, and Nikki went above and beyond to work with me on getting it to the cut that I wanted. Plus, have you seen some of those amazing colored designs she can do on the side of your head. Genius!

Ashley has been doing my hair since she first started at this salon. I have curly thin hair and she does a great job cutting it so it not only compliments my facial features but looks fuller and bouncier. I’ve don’t everything from long layer, shoulder length, a line. Right now I have it super short with lots of face framing layers… I get soooo many compliments on it. I was nervous to go so short because my hair is so curly I didn’t want a poof. Its very funky and stylish. I don’t dye it anymore but use to… Ashley has done red, brown with highlights, black with pink highlights and more. And she gives the best shampoos! The salon itself is quite nice… everyone is so friendly and I love the coffee.

I’ve been going to Howard Kurtz salon for about 4 years now and I love it!!! I love the energy in the place everyone’s so friendly and professional. my hairstylist is Ashley she’s amazing every time I go in and want a new look that I’ve seen on a celebrity or model Ashley matches it perfectly! I have crazy thick curly long hair & I have never been to a hair stylist in LA that could handle my type of hair with care! Hands down Ashley is the best; so kind and gentle! Love the way she washes my hair and massages my head& neck ahhhh. :) definitely recommend her! I can’t wait to go back in and add more blonde to my ombré see you soon Ashley !!

This review is LONG overdue. I came here a little over a year ago in June. I came here for my first color ever. I have brown hair and wanted blonde highlights. I saw Ashley and it was as if no one had ever asked for highlights before. I was at the salon for 6 HOURS for just a color! I had no idea it took that long, but didn’t know any different since it was my first time! The finished product was all over ORANGE fried hair:(it was horrible. I called the next day explaining my frustration to the receptionist but asked her to please not tell my stylist because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings (I’m too nice!). So what does she do? She hands the phone to Ashley! I was so frustrated because I did NOT want to go back to her. I spent over $ 200 on the color and it makes me sick to this day knowing that I did. I am STILL trying to recover my hair and fix the damage that was done by her! So sad.
Don’t go here if u love your hair!!!
**another red flag is that the owner never comments back to fix the issue with clients that have had bad experiences here. NOT a good sign of a good business owner. Your customers should mean

Moni is the bomb. She did my wife’s eyebrows… sexy and awesome. Moni also did our friend’s wedding bride and all the bride’s maids. Great pictures. Moni is a make up artist and eyebrow specialist. Thank you Monica! Right off the 101 freeway Van Nuys exit on Ventura Blvd. Easy parking. Great salon. Clean. Full service. Good vibes. Better make an appointment. Ask for Moni.

Randi gave me a beautiful short haircut today. She was very patient with me, even though I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted. Definitely recommended.

I feel so lucky that one of my friends told me about Alivia.. I admired her lashes and she told me her secret! Alicia at Howard Kurtz Salon.. .The thought of lying down for 1 ½ hr-​2 hours wasn’t appealing to me — time flew! Alivia is knowledgeable, explains the process thoroughly and was very down to earth.
I was getting my lashes down every week at Benefit Cosmetics and stopped because my eyelashes were being pulled out when I tried to take off the lashes.
I am so happy that I finally switched to eyelash extensions. I get the mink lashes 15 length. There is so much length and fullness to my eyes!
Tip: There is parking in the back and they validate (the parking guy doesn’t check though)

Great haircut today from Julie Ann. I’m pretty picky about my short hair, and she was willing to listen and make changes until I was happy with it! The only snafu was that someone forgot to write my appointment down on the hair stylist’s personal schedule card, so she wasn’t expecting me and I sat at the front waiting for about 15 – 20 min, but once she realized the mistake she was very apologetic, and I didn’t feel that my appointment was rushed at all as a result. I will be back! Pictures posted of my awesome cut :)

Nikki Nishimoto is the best of the best! She has been the only one who I have ever trusted with my hair and with good reason. She has an amazing eye for detail that shows in her work. Although I have seen her for hair styling and beard design trimming, she is truly an artist with hair color.
The salon is very profesional and clean. If you are serious about your hair, I recommend Nikki’s chair. The best in LA.
