Hunt Pilates

I love Hunt Pilates. Liz Napoli and Ron Woodall are the owners, and they are terrific.
I train with Liz, who does an exceptional job. I have learned so much from her. She is one of the nicest people that you could ever meet. I took Pilates classes at different places that never taught me how to make sure that I was using the right weights and what springs I needed to use for different exercises. I was never taught the basics from any classes that I attended elsewhere. Liz explains everything to me. I get so much out of her and always feel great when I am done with my session. She has taught me so many things, that when I get on my reformer at home, I know how to align my body perfectly, so I can do anything that I want to. It is a relief knowing that I am doing the exercises properly. Liz has a great personality; always a smile on her face, and a pleasure to be around. I always look forward to my sessions.
I highly recommend Hunt Pilates.

I’ve been taking classes here for over 5 years now — always look forward to the amazing energy this place brings me. It’s so calming, peaceful, and comforting — all the instructors are so real and unlike typical LA people — very down to earth and they really teach you how to get stronger and be the best you. I LOVE taking each and everyone of their classes :)

I wish I could go back in time to September 2, 2014, when Liz was ill and could not teach the beginning pilates class. When I saw the substitute teacher, I should have walked out. Ever since then I have been suffering with nerve issues that will not abate. I have had every type of treatment known to mankind, to no avail. My foot got caught in a leg strap, and the substitute failed to note this for a number of minutes, even though I was yelling and calling out. She also had us do planks from the foot rest, which is not a good move for a beginning pilates class. I have not had a moment’s peace since this day. If only I could go back in time. There should be more accountability for instructors.

Professional instructors. Very dishonest business, big mess with friont desk girls, sisters– appointments, attendances… I bought a package with 11 classes, 10 of them from Groupon. I used only 9 and then, I was told today, I am out of their system, I can’t take anymore classes. I asked front desk girl to tell me the dates of attendance– they were only 8. When I counted them, she gave me additional, unreal dates to make them 11. She stated I missed my appointment on Sunday. Not true! I actually, attended on Sunday, she was not at her desk at that morning till the end of the class. I wrote an e-​mail to the Manger-​owner today to help me understand why is this discrepancy, I asked for help. He did not reply. I am very disappointed. I don’t believe this is the right way to run a business– with lies, dishonesty, tricks and ignorance.

This is my first Unilocal review ever. As a working mother of 3, I don’t usually take the time. But after the abomination of a class I took this morning at Hunt Pilates, I can’t let this one go.
Hunt Pilates was recommended to me by a good friend, who also happens to be a Pilates instructor. I loved the first class I took there with Jehona, she’s an amazing instructor. She deserves 5 stars, thus her classes are always booked. The 2^nd class I took was with a male instructor, who was bland but unoffensive.
Today’s class however, was the worst experience I’ve had in the 12 years I’ve been practicing Pilates. The instructor, Anthony– who this review is specifically about– was rude and condescending. His choreography was sorely lacking as we did the same exact movement in ascending then descending intervals for the entirety of the class. All the while this pompous man is yelling at us like a drill sergeant. At one point, he told me to jump harder, I told him I was modifying to protect my knees and lower back. His asinine response was to say that perhaps I didn’t belong in a jump-​board class!
Not only was his class boring to say the least, there was nothing Pilates about it. He did not offer one corrective cue but instead was having a side conversation with one of the women in the class whenever he took a break from yelling. From their long conversation I discovered he’s also an actor. Of course he is. There are so many knowledgable fitness professionals in LA. and absolutely no reason to take class from a pompous, wannabe actor. I won’t be going back to Hunt Pilates.

Excellent folks. size of classes are great. plenty of parking available. Jason is awesome. Highly recommend their classes
Update to my last post: it takes a long time to get a reply back when you email them. Overall, I still love them. they don’t offer mat classes.

Great pilates studio! I’ve been going for over a year and have always enjoyed going to the classes. Nice owners and attentive teachers.

I love pilates (who knew?), and I love this place! I took my very first pilates class last year (after purchasing a Groupon), and loved it from the start. I think I’m now three or four packages in… Like with anything, you’ll find that you will like some instructors (personality, workout, pace, etc.) better than others, but one of the many great things about this studio is that there are many to choose from, along with a wide variety of classes at all different times of the day so it’s usually pretty easy to find one that fits your schedule AND your preferences. Personally, I think Monia and Jason are great, but that’s just me. Don’t take my word for it, go in and find out for yourself! I’ve actually had a few friends come try it out (your first class is only $ 5 when you walk in!), and they have ALL loved it (and wound up signing up!)
Another great thing about this place is the owners. Liz (who actually teaches some of the classes) and her husband Ron are wonderful, kind, compassionate human beings. If you can, make it a point to meet and get to know them a bit… It’s often easiest to deal with Ron directly about packages, etc. when you can, since it’s sometimes difficult to get through to the receptionists on the phone when classes are in session/​transitioning between sessions. Though this place is obviously a business, and people are in business to make money, they still offer great deals (and sales too!), even when you’re done with your initial Groupon package! Two thumbs up!

Just bought my second package with them. Really loving the pilates classes here! Great instructors and plenty of times to choose from with my Groupon (other places limit when you can come).
Already feeling the difference in my body after only 10 classes!

Absolutely L O V E this place!
I recently purchased a Groupon and have really enjoyed all the classes I’ve attended. All the instructors so far (Elaine, Monia, Amy) are incredibly nice and welcoming. I’ve never done Pilates before and at times, I definitely feel like I’m slowing the groove of the class down. Although this happens more often than I’d like to admit (hey, I’m a beginner!), they do a fab job of helping me adjust and feel comfortable with the motions. Can’t wait to try out the other instructors, but so far, so good!
All in all it’s a cute studio with tons of good energy. Keep it up Hunt! I like your style!

I’ve been trying to get a hold of someone since Saturday… left a message and sent an email and no one has even bothered replying let alone answering their phones. Thus far their customer service has been horrible and I’m thinking about just returning my voucher and getting a refund. I initially purchase based on the prior reviews since I usually go to wundabar but it’s been the complete opposite, what a disappointment.

I luv this spot! I bought a groupon to this studio– it was a very good price I may add. My goal was to to lean out and increase my flexibility. Mission accomplished! I feel amazing and look GOOD!
Don’t sleep on the cardio too! The jumpboard class is one of the most intense workouts I’ve ever done!
My groupon ended and I am hooked!

I’ve been going to Hunt for 2 years and I really love it! My posture and core have only grown stronger after taking these classes. Like any other fitness class, it all depends on your instructor.
If you ever have the chance to take a class with Amy or Jehonna, I highly recommend them! Amy has such an amazing, upbeat attitude, she makes classes so fun! Jehonna is also really great, she’s helped with my form in the past years. I especially love how small and intimate all the classes are-​you get the attention you need to help with form. The only downside of the small size classes is that they fill up so quick!
Also be sure to take advantage of their monthly specials… they’re so worth it! I love Hunt

I just recently moved from Orange County to the valley and i found this studio through groupon. I purchased 10 classes for $ 79, which is very reasonable. I’ve taken four classes now, and I love the way my body feels after the basic reformer class; classes can be challenging but not exhausting. Jana is a great instructor– friendly, personable, and helpful! The classes are small, so you get a lot of personal attention. The instructor will help you adjust you posture and correct your form so you get the most out of your practice. I will definitely purchase the monthly classes once my groupon deal expires!

Words can not describe how much Hunt Pilates has changed my life. I’ve always been interested in finding a good workout and Hunt Pilates IS IT.
The staff is not only patient and kind, but after 2 weeks I felt like family there.
I highly highly recommend Liz’s Jump class. She is the owner of the studio and brings so much to her classes. The Jump class makes you feel great and you have a great time doing it!

Classes with Jana and Jason are always funny. They keep the mood light which makes class more enjoyable, unlike other pilate places, it’s so quiet, you don’t get to really know people.
I didn’t like my first class with Jana because knowing it was my first class, she did some intermediate moves knowing that it was my first class. She took a long time deciding what to do next. With a paper in hand, we spent the first 15min on exercises we could have done on the mat. Don’t get me wrong they were good exercises, real good. But I guess I was expecting to use the reformer more. But she really knows her stuff. When I took her again, she was ON IT and she totally kicked my butt! [=
I took one class with Alejandra, she’s a new instructor, I giggled because I saw some ladies eyes bulge out when they saw what we were doing next, and Alejandra was like, «what’s so funny?» I guess SHE’S NO JOKE, LOL, JUST LIKE HER CLASSES.

I met Ron who co-​owns this place with his wife, he is very personable, it was supposed to be my last class but since I like this place so much I got another package!!! Because they offer classes on Sundays and they have $ 13 reformer classes, what a steal!!!
$ 5 for a friends first time, anytime. And there’s always plenty of parking.

My sister kept telling me to try Pilates. She swears by it… So i found a groupon in the valley. Made sure it was a pilates studio with reformers. The place was very nice and clean. The owners were very very nice and accommodating. Especially for someone brand new to Pilates.
I had Liz as my instructor. She was awesome! Took the time to help me with all the new moves. Wow, what a work out. My stomach still hurts from the class. Will definitely continue to come here once my groupon is over with.:)
Only tiny con: Parking is in a very busy shopping center so make sure to leave some time to find parking spaces.:)

I love Hunt Pilates! They have great teachers, offer awesome classes, and are affordable for everyone. This type of work out safely tightens and tones my whole body (specifically core) results noticeable by the next morning! I recommend Hunt Pilates to anyone recovering from an injury or ready for a flatter tummy.

Started in April 2014 with a Groupon and have visited 2−3x per week since then. Had taken a 5-​series Pilates class elsewhere prior to visiting this studio.
Schedule-​wise, I’ve only taken Jason and Jana’s classes (beg, beg/​int, jumpboard), but based on them and interactions with the owners, I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a Pilates studio.
The people: Ron was very helpful and patient with all my questions regarding class descriptions and scheduling outside the online booking system. Liz has always been friendly and welcoming. Instructor Jana can be snarky-​fun, and I totally enjoy her classes. Instructor Jason is energetic and pays close attention to your form, and I feel I get a great workout from his classes.
The place: the front desk area is tight, especially during class transition time. But it’s clean and comfy with sufficient seating. The studio doesn’t feel crammed, even though there are 7 reformers in a row with 2 additional off to the side. The back room for private sessions is spacious, and all the equipment looks to be in good shape.

They are now offering more early morning classes and a larger variety of classes. They’ve also added more reformers to the main studio. Love how this place keeps improving!
