I went to this place in Sherman Oaks for the first time one week ago, moved more for curiosity as a piano teacher. Had the pleasure to be helped by Ms, Patricia at the Music Sheet Dept, who was very nice and made me feel like an old customer. They have a large variety of piano classical music books, methods and teaching supplies in addition to many different piano brands. I really enjoyed to have been there and at the end I bought some music books for my granddaughter. Definitively I will be back many times!

I was very satisfied for my Yamaha piano purchase at this location! The salesman Jake was so wonderful — he was very knowledgeable and helpful with my purchase. Moreover, the front desk team is very supportive too. Especially, Patricia — she greets people with a sweet smile; and she is always willing to help you with your needs… I highly recommend this place!

Ms. Rita is a truly gifted and wonderful music teacher! My 7 year old daughter has been taking Yamaha classes with Ms. Rita since she opened the school at this location in the fall of 2012 (she started in the JMC class when she was 4 ½). It is incredible how much she has learned — not just about playing piano, or particular pieces, but also about music, music theory, music appreciation. Ms. Rita is amazing in the way she inspires the kids and instills in them a true love of – and fluency in – the language of music. I cannot recommend this school enough. It has been truly life changing for my daughter and our whole family.

Leah helped us pick out a piano rental. She did not try to upsell us. She was patient and knowledgeable. The piano was delivered on the date promised, and even arrived 2 hours early. I highly recommend the rental program, which allows you to put your rental money toward a purchase at a later date.

My 11 year old daughter has been attending Mrs Rita’s piano class for the last two years. She has excelled with Mrs Rita’s teaching style and is excited to attend the classes weekly as well as practice at home. I highly recommend this class.

As a teacher, It’s so refreshing to find a store that still carries a good selection of sheet music — materials that have been around for years and some of the newer stuff. It’s important that students have the opportunity to walk into a brick-​and-​mortar store and browse through the hard copies of music. This is a very important part of the learning process!!!

Keyboard Concepts is the only place I go to buy music. They have a great selection and always have what I need in stock. The discount they offer for teachers is also a great incentive. But definitely the best part about KC is the amazing cashier Patricia. So friendly and always offering to help with an amazing smile, she makes the experience of shopping for music enjoyable!

Great experience! I sold my ivory baby grand piano to them and they offered fast and reliable service unlike the the other two piano places I called (Knauer & Hollywood Piano). Keyboard Concepts got in touch with me the day I filled out the sell my piano form. The other two places took at least two weeks to contact me and I was the one following up with them unlike this company they contacted me right away and kept me up to date on what was going on. As a piano teacher and music school owner, I need someone to send my students to for their personal instruments. I need to know that they won’t be taken advantage of, and that they will be cared for as if I was with them. Our parents are looking for everything from a first piano/​keyboard to start a child on, all the way to a grand piano for an advanced student graduating from junior high school.
I find it such a pleasant surprise to find that prices on digital pianos such as the Casio cx-​150 are LESS than at musicians friend, and better than the comparable bargain keyboard at Costco. The bonus for our students is that when they have been playing for a year, and they need to get the next level of piano, keyboard concepts gives them the full price as a trade in credit on the next purchase. This is a win for my students in every way!
Jeff Falgien is the owner, and was the person I spoke with today. He has 30 years of experience working with Yamaha and Bosendorfer pianos, and he knows his stuff. I’ve been playing for 53 years and my knowledge base doesn’t come close to his.
I get the sense that the sales staff cares about what my students need, rather than making a quick buck, and that also matters to me when I’m giving a personal referral. As it stands, I’m sending all of my students to Jeff at keyboard concepts.

I consigned two Yamaha pianos to Keyboard Concepts after trying to sell them on Craigslist. These were very nice, professionally maintained pianos but all I got from Craigslist was bargain shoppers and low-​ballers. It was the perfect solution. Dennis was great to work with. We agreed on a price and his team went to work. Both pianos sold under the consignment contract and we are very pleased.

I like this place!
They carry sheet music of all genres, keyboards, piano and player pianos of all kinds of manufacturers for all budgets, and even a recital room for piano teachers and students (more about that in a bit).
I’m surprised that there were 5 salesmen working on a Sunday afternoon after Christmas in a depressing economy. They must get good business or they like spending time in their little offices. Two of them came out to greet us and after we explained that we were here to kill time, they showed us the two additional showrooms and left us alone. Very cool.
For keyboards, they carry simple ones for young kids all the way up to the full-​sized (88 keys) with stands, mixers, and super fancy professional grade with a ton of buttons (I have no idea, obviously).
For pianos, they carry uprights and grands mostly from Yamaha and Knabe (indonesian). They also have a few from Young Chang (Korean), Cable, Boston (from Steinway) and other lesser-​known manufacturers.
I was pretty surprised at how many Bosendorfers grand pianos this store carries. Bosendorfers like the Lamborghini of pianos (the o with the umlaut is also spelled as oe, i.e. Boesendorfer). The store even received a plaque from the manufacturer for being the store that sold the most in the United States… but that was in 2001.
Anyway, if you have any interest in pianos at all, this is a good store to kill some time and nobody will bother you unless you want any attention. A showroom without hounds… some time to tinker at the piano without being hassled or anyone watching. How awesome is that?
