The place is well decorated and cozy. I like the atmosphere until more people came in and you ended up have to yelled to people sitting in front of you to hear you. It seems to be very popular among the locals. Foods were ok. We ordered lobster bisque, steak, salmon, mussels, and a Soufflé Au Chocolat. The bisque, souggle au chocolat, and fries were good. The rest of dishes I would say it is a bit overpriced. Don’t ask the servers about recommendations, because they don’t have a preference and recommend everything on the menu.

Great place! Can’t wait to go back! I love good French food. Escargot was incredible and the duck was to die for. So glad I chose this place to eat last night. Service was great. Two thumbs up all around. New fav French place in the valley. Plus I have an allergy to gluten and there was so much or me to chose from!

Went here to celebrate our anniversary and we loved it! We had the potato crusted salmon and the crispy duck ala orange. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delish! We shared a caesar salad which was also very good but not great. They do charge extra for substituting vegetables, which I think is silly. We saved room for the chocolate soufflé which was great! Our waiter was fine, not very personable though and never asked us if we wanted coffee with our dessert and had to ask 3 times for the check. But the food all came out in a timely manner and was great, which is most important. Perhaps he was just having an off day, so no big deal. It can get noisy in there, but small price to pay for a restaurant with amazing food at very fair prices! We will definitely be back!

To start off. I’ve always been a steak & fries type of gal. But my love for it quadrupled when I visited France this past summer and had the most amazing steak au poivre! Ever since, I’ve been on the hunt for the BEST here in LA. After many tries at finding the perfect steak au poivre & frites, one day I luckily came across Le Petit. Had the escargots to start, which were amazing.(Not Paris amazing, but still amazing) Ordered the steak au poivre(nice cut of filet mignon in a finger-licking-good pepper brandy sauce puddle) as my entrée with my fingers crossed for dinner, and guess what! Absolutely loved it! For the first time in my life, I finished an entire plate of steak and fries. It felt damned good, too.(Just not the car ride home as I felt like one side of my fiancés car was sinking, yep, it was where I was seated) oh well! Worth it!

Le Petit Restaurant is so good. Took my wife here for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. the food was amazing, the service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is very romantic. Gotta try the Escargot for appetizer(garlic buttery heaven– and for dessert get the apple tart–(this maybe the best tasting dessert ever.) will definitely be back to explore the menu and build more memories with my wife.

What a disappointing and mediocre meal !! Crowed, noisy really bad service ! After being seated we waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged had to ask for water two times had to ask for bread our waiter also made our cocktails they seemed to be really understaffed the food was just not good the server after taking our order never returned to the table until we asked for the check TWICE. I had the Chilean sea bass, fishy chewy, my husband had the fillet it was fine, my son had the paella and it was inedible chewy odd tasting seafood gummy rice just bad ! His girlfriend has the lobster bisque very sweet and again just odd favor ! This place is expensive with no customer service

We were here two years ago and really enjoyed it so wanted to come back on this trip. The place was packed… after all it’s Christmas Eve but we were seated within 5−−10 minutes of our 7:30 reservation time. The waiters were doing double duty. Waiting on guests and tending bar. No simple feat. The caprese salad with burrata was fabulous and the baked Brie divine. Lamb chops were very good but I substituted mashed potatoes for the fries. Somehow lamb chops and fries don’t work for me. Hubby had seafood paella which was vey good as well. We shared the apple tart a la mode. Fighting for every last morsel. Next time one each ! Hope to get back to California in the not too distant future and will definitely put Le Petit Restaurant on our list of places to visit. Mahalo!

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The restaurant is a lot smaller than I thought. He had made reservations and specifically requested a booth but sat us at a table. We waited an extra 20 minutes for a booth. It was annoying just because it was our anniversary and he had called beforehand. In terms of food, it was pretty average. Nothing spectacular, but I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu. I got a seafood dish and my boyfriend got a steak.

I grew up in the area and have been to this restaurant several times when I was younger. It’s been about 15 years since I have been back and I was looking forward to the experience. The food was good, but nothing stood out. However… service was beyond terrible! There was not a friendly bone in the staff. It completely ruined our experience, not to mention the fact that both my husband and I got sick from the food. So disappointed!

I grabbed take out from here because I was really craving foie gras, and what do you know? When you search Unilocal it comes up here! I was in my work clothes(jeans and a t shirt) so when I walked in all the staff seemed to ignore me– part of the reason I grabbed take out is because I knew I wasn’t dressed for french haha… Anyway I had to walk over to the bar to get attention and then the manager actually helped me out, who was very kind. Honestly, the foie gras was kind of disappointing. I know it’s hard to find, but when you find the good stuff it’s like butter. I think this may be falsely called«foie gras» and was probably just plain old duck liver. I have been to several other places(because it is so hard to find) and settled for a «duck mousse» which was much better and a larger portion. HOWEVER I also had their truffle appetizer and it was super amazing. I will be back, probably dressed better to see if service is better that way.

My first time at Le Petit and I stayed there for 3 hours dinner!!! It might be the lovely company that I had dining with me, or the wonderful weather, the great Cabernet we had, the tasteful appetizers or the main dishes. I believe that the combination of the above made that evening special and enjoyable. I will definitely get back there, hopefully with the same friends that made this evening so special

Came in 30 minutes before close time and got refused service. Real classy. I’m a business owner and I know what it’s like and i know the itch to close up shop on slow days. But the amount of rudeness was really unbearable. I have never been here before so I don’t know who the man was but he looked like upper management/owner. He go up and already began acting like I made him carry 40tons of rock uphill on a sunny day. Just made me feel like I really disrupted the entire place and his entire day. I asked if the times on Unilocal were wrong he said no, I asked if my clock was off and he smiled and gave me that look as if I was suppose to take a hint. It comes down to either he didn’t want to work or he profiled me as someone who he didn’t want in the store. Either way all the power to you on refusing service and carrying out your rights. but at least give a reason to another decent human being if you so as consider yourself a decent man

This review is solely based on Family Friendliness: Probably not the best for twin one-year olds, or any toddlers for that matter. Although the staff was kind and the food was tasty, the table was tight and we were definitely glared at by other patrons. We tried to go early enough to avoid a busy restaurant, and that paid off. Otherwise, we may have had a rougher time. For more, check out the site in my profile.

I’ve been eyeing this restaurant while driving down Ventura and finally had a chance to try it during a group dinner. As other reviewers state, this place is on the smaller side, and we were definitely the youngest group(in our 30’s)– everyone else appeared double our age. One thing to note is that although they list the«check in offer» of lobster fête– it does not mean they have it available. When we were at the restaurant on Saturday evening, they did not offer it that evening. Although the group ordered various items from the menu(including the paella, rib eye steak, ravioli, filet, etc for the entrees), I tried the items pictured(grilled filet and sea bass) and also the french onion soup(which was pretty good) and chocolate cake. I loved the sea bass entrée. it was with roasted veggies and mushrooms(slightly different than the menu posted online) and buttery. I would order this again. The filet was great — tender. However, the shoestring fries that came with the entrée was a bit soggier than I would’ve liked. One issue I had was with the service– rarely did they come to check on us, and it was almost to the point we were being ignored. I think if it had been for better attentiveness, I would have returned sooner. By the way, their chocolate cake dessert is to die for.

Unfortunately the food has gone downhill, and the new wait staff they are hiring are the worst. Tried it twice I guess after they have switched owners, and will never be going again. Rip my favorite place of all time :(

I took my lady here for a special evening and I was actually quite surprised. Lets start at the beginning. There is a valet outside, but honestly there is plenty of street parking within the block on side streets, so no need. The interior of the place is adorable and the mood lighting is on point. Now to the food. The choice is slender, but the food was delicious. I got the gnocci and the lady got herself the pumpkin rav. I highly recommend her choice, since I kept asking for bites of it. The wine was alright too, not the best, but not the worst. I don’t recall the name of it, but it was a nice red. Cab I think. Overall the experience was good. The only problem was there was a group of very loud women that were nearby that seemed to not care of they disturbed anyone else. When I jokingly asked the waiter if they come in all the time, he said yes and that they are regulars. So just be on the lookout for them.

If everyone was French I’d swear I was back in Paris… Had dinner here with a friend and loved the ambiance, had to look around a few times to make sure there weren’t Parisians anywhere and that I was still walking distance to my house! Great wine selection, great bartenders, great food. I hope that if you’ve ever been to Paris that you found this place as authentic as I did. Check out my Paris reviews and you’ll see what I’m talking about: Enjoy!

Not sure why it took me so long to write a review for this place, cause my husband and I love it here! We first stumbled upon it about 3 years ago on Valentine’s Day and have made it a yearly tradition. Jay took really good care of us, and we definitely appreciated it. We have since had my husbands birthday here, went to a dinner w/friends, and told my parents and other friends to come to this restaurant. We recently went to a 1st birthday here a few weeks ago, and the food was fantastic! Everything was so delicious, from the appetizers to the entrees to dessert. Every time the food has been consistent and delicious, making us come back for more.

A group of about 8 of us came here for my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday and we had a lovely time. Most importantly, my mother-in-law, who LOVES French food, was insanely happy. SERVICE: The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. One thing that was particularly lovely is that they could tell we were celebrating a special occasion and so they didn’t rush us at all. We ordered a bottle of champagne at the beginning of the meal, and the servers allowed us to practically finish drinking it prior to interrupting us to place our food order. WINELIST: The wine list is fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices of the wines! I think the wines are cheaper here than at the local grocery store. We enjoyed a bottle of Veuve Clicquot for only $ 36, and then a delicious bottle of Mt. Veeder cabernet for only $ 44. That is quite a steal, considering usually these wines are marked up to the $ 80 mark at most other restaurants. APPETIZERS: Our table enjoyed a wide range of appetizers. My mother-in-law really enjoyed the escargot and said it was«one of the top 3 escargots she’s had,» which is really saying a lot because she’s probably had escargot at hundreds of restaurants over the years. I ordered the French pear, gorgonzola salad, and it was much larger than I anticipated, and very tasty. My brother-in-law really liked the frog legs. ENTREES: The entrees are moderately priced from $ 14 – 34, which I think is quite a good deal for the quality of the food. My MIL absolutely loved the lobster crepes, and my husband enjoyed the paella. I had the traditional French burger which was savory and perfect. My brother-in-law loved the merguez(spicy Moroccan sausages). Overall, we had a wonderful experience here. The service was great, the wine list is fantastic, and the food is priced well for its quality. I would recommend this place for a date night or for a group. The only downside of this place is that it did get a bit loud. There’s not a lot of privacy between the tables, so as the night went on and the place filled up, I could hardly hear the people at my own table.
