This is my favorite café in the valley. Great food. Great atmosphere. Very romantic but can also have a business meal here or lunch/dinner with a friend.

I recently visited Café Bizou with a large group to try their dineLA menu. I tried the escargot, lobster seafood pasta, and the sorbet trio for about $ 30. While the escargot and sorbet were tasty, the pasta was a little bland. I also can’t comment on the presentation because our 10-person table was lit with two miniature candles. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong choice, because my friend’s lobster bisque and trio of meat were pretty flavorful! However, our service was subpar. Our waiters were quick with refilling water and clearing the table, but really made no effort to interact with us or explain their menu. To be honest, the man who occasionally made an appearance to refill our bread basket had ten times the charisma as our waiter. When we paid our bill and saw ourselves out, the waiter looked indifferent and said nothing. My friends and I aren’t connoisseurs of French cuisine, but we’ve had better service from a food truck. DineLA is an ideal time for Café Bizou to attract new customers, but our dining experience proved to be anything but exciting. I’m sure our experience would have been different if we came at a different time with a different waiter, but for now it seems that we won’t be returning.

This was my second stop for dine LA recently. I have to say that the small and rustic look of the place was quite different than what I was normally use to. For the food, I have more good comments than bad. My favorite dish was the escargot, which was buttery and delicious. I would definitely recommend that to anyone who visits the café. My main consisted of a trio of meats which was on the smaller side yet tasteful. My only bad comments are that the first round of bread rolls seemed like they were older compared to the second one and that the French onion dip had a thick layer of cheese. All in all, I enjoyed the entire place: food, atmosphere, and service. Our waiter was especially smooth with the ladies from what I saw.

Here last night to celebrate my bff and I’d birthdays and I have to say, they have been nothing but consistent. Food, service, ambiance… They have the nicest crew from the bartenders to the super friendly waiters. They always join dineLA and I always make sure I come back.

I never leave a tip below 15%, even at the ice cream shop, but after dinner here last week I left a tip just short of that. I hope our server Matthew got that it’s not cuz I’m cheap but rather a reflection of his shortcomings for our meal. My second time here — the first was for a mid-week lunch, when we were one of a few tables with attentive service and carefully prepped dishes. A true test of a restaurant is when it’s got a full dining room and Café Bizou failed. Had reservations but kept getting pushed back for seating as regulars arrived. In their cramped bar/hostess area this was unpleasant. When we were finally seated a server not assigned to our table offered to take our order but Matthew declined the help(but why?) and made us wait for him. He did not take any drink orders, failed to offer fresh-ground pepper for soups and salads, never came to check-in about the food(that he didn’t deliver) or drinks(which we flagged him down to order), and was slow in processing the payment, likely because he was being worked by an entitled lady at the next table. Their party kept being ‘confused’(trying to make non-dineLA options into a PF meal) and Matthew kept making unwarranted adjustments to their bill and bending to their every whim while carrying my credit card back and forth in his apron and forgetting the basics of table service. The pasta was over cooked and the seafood and lobster sauce was too salty, two of the quickest ways to make food suck. It’s a shame that a kitchen can’t perform at their best during dineLA. Dessert took twice as long to plate than the entrees. Why is this place so popular? Our busser(didn’t get his name) worked super hard and all the servers abused him, sending him running this way and that for things they should’ve been getting. I won’t be returning.

Let me start out being positive… The food was delicious! However, the service was very poor! We arrived on time for our reservation, but we waited over 45 minutes to be seated. When seated it was another hour before we received our order. My husband almost walked out — he was so hungry he had no choice but to wait! Also, it would have been nice if the waiter had come by to check on us or at least pour the wine… But neither happened. It a Saturday nite in January… I expected more! There was no delay in us receiving the check. It arrived swiftly, as we were eating dessert. OMG there is only ONE ladies bathroom!

Ate here for Restaurant Week. Service was on point, cocktails were strong, lobster/scallop/shrimp pasta was awesome, bread was fresh out of the oven, and the flourless chocolate tarte was divine. Can’t really complain.

We chose Café’ Bizou as our place to do the Dine LA thing this year. 2 course prix fixe menu with the option for a dessert for an additional charge. Well, the consensus was… not bad, but not great either. The host was lovely, very attentive. but the wait staff weren’t very good. no explanation of our dishes, and we felt sort of like an afterthought. i want to alert the café’ staff to the fact that their online menu for the Dine LA experience is incorrect, too. The prices are off and they advertised a choice of a 3 meat plate, as well as other choices for both courses which weren’t available on the lunch menu when we arrived(I asked). nor was it offered. So that was disappointing. I did very much enjoy my first course of baked mushroom. but it was more of a baked meatball with one mushroom on the bottom. it was, however, gorgeous! I wanted to try the meat plate(filet mignon, lamb and short ribs) but as I said, it wasn’t offered for the lunch course even though the website said different. I ended up with the seafood pasta, and it was very yummy. we both liked our desserts too: tiramisu and a duo of sorbets. so all in all I’d say I’ll give it another try, hopefully things will improve overall. However they do need to get their online advertising down better!

I dined at Café Bizou for the first time and have to say I was very impressed. The service was great and even though was our waiter’s first day, he was amazing! If he hadn’t told us, we wouldn’t have known. We started with the arugula salad and bottle of red wine. Excellent! Our entrees were: macadamia halibut and the white fish and pasta. They were also very good. We finished dinner with a tasty sorbet.

Okay, so I’m vegan– meaning I can’t review a place with literally no vegan items except for some soup and bread. That being said, the ambiance is nice, and you can tell this place has been around a while. I came with my French Literary Salon(I know, fancy me) and we always enjoy our end-of-year dinners here. The service is always good though. Expect shitty parking, mind my French. If you have time, stop by at the Antique Mall across the street for some fun sifting.

I have heard rave reviews about this place from a co-worker, so I had to give this place a shot. I ordered the lunch special with escargot, lobster black pasta, and a piece of flour less cake. All together it was 22 dollars. The escargot was good. I had never had it before and if you like garlic and butter, you will love it. The pasta was great– tender yet al dente. Seemed like they made it on site. The seafood was not chewy or hard either. The cake was great. Frankly, I’m a sucker for a flour less cake anyway so I’m not hard to please in that area. The service was also quick making it easier for people with short lunch periods to come during their work day. I would return. Maybe after I save up a little money since the food was on the pricey side.

I think this is a great spot for French food. I went on a Saturday night and it was extremely packed. When there’s a crowd, you can’t really expect excellent service, but it wasn’t bad. The escargot is definitely a dish worth trying; its flavorful and delicious! That was probably my favorite dish out of the other two dishes I ordered(filet and steak). Overall the food is pretty good. I look forward to going back and trying their dessert!

Whaoouuuu We love it! I am French and my boyfriend find me this restaurant on Ventura. The«look» of the place at first is kind of old style :)) But light is cozy and ambiance romantic :)) We ordered the Lamb rack for him and filet mignon for myself. Excellent food! So good that my man ordered then the roasted lamb while I had the flourless chocolate cake. From the beginning to the end everything was good even my Mojitos:)) Only little thing that bothered me, none of the waiters were speaking French :((

I came here with my boyfriend a few nights ago. We arrived at 9pm on a week night. After we were seated, our server greeted us pretty quickly and brought us waters and complimentary bread. We ordered escargot and I got a French onion soup to start with. Both were delicious! The soup was some of the best I’ve EVER had– to die for. The only thing that really bothered me about the whole night was the server rushing us to order. It was 9:12 when he insisted we should put our orders in soon because they close at 9… Online it clearly says they close at 10. It’s not like we came 15 minutes before closing. But anyways, we ordered shortly after that– around 9:15. After we ordered, our server was friendlier. I ordered the lobster sea scallop and shrimp pasta(with black tagallini pasta). The dish as a whole tasted pretty yummy, but the texture of the tagallini noodles was a bit weird for me. The seafood in the dish was amazing though(and there was a lot)! My boyfriend ordered the chicken au jus. He finished every single bite on his plate, even the vegetables(snow peas and broccoli) and he usually HATES veggies. I tasted a piece of his chicken and the sauce on it was very good. Finally for dessert, we ordered tiramisu, which wasn’t that good. It was too moist. I probably should have known not to order tiramisu at a French restaurant though. Overall, the flavors of the food here are very tasty. I do want to come back and try more things on the menu. And definitely get the French onion soup again!

Sometimes restaurants do the right thing and step up and admit a mistake. This one did and I’m happy to upgrade the review now based on the service and food. A have a lot of respect for places that do that. My wife had a great meal and better service.

Wow! Went for dinner on a Wednesday night with my Aunt. I am glad we made reservations! We got there early and it was fairly empty. The food wine and conversation were so good I didn’t really pay attention to anything else. We got up to leave and the place was PACKED! The noise level is low even with the crowd. The setting is pretty and the service is excellent. $ 2 corkage fee??? Oh yes! We will be back again! I had the Beef Burgundy Stroganoff and it was beyond expectations! Parking is street if you can find it(good luck) or $ 5 for valet!

This is a great place located on the Boulevard. The ambience of the restaurant is the best. We conduct business lunches here often for 15 – 20 people in one of the dining rooms. They have great lunch specials and delicious salads. The food is always consistently good. The staff is always friendly and attentive! Valet parking is provided.

Walking in, I was expecting a wonderful meal and an overall great experience. Leaving here, I was underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the Potato mushroom soup, BBQ chicken sandwich, & a Stella beer. The complimentary bread basket came out inconsistent. One batch was crunchy simple bread. The next batch was the opposite; I thought that was strange. It was the identical type of bread, but different textures. The one menu item I enjoyed was the soup. Very creamy potato soup with slight taste of mushroom. Unfortunately, the salad was poor. Very bland and the BBQ chicken tasted as if they smothered the chicken with grocery store BBQ sauce. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my meal & others in my group did not enjoy the meal as well. It is an old school style French restaurant with a lot of charm. The waiting staff was polite and friendly. The ambiance is the primary reason for the extra star for Café Bizou. 2 out of 5 stars is the best I can give. sadly, I won’t return.

First night of #DineLA we chose to go to this French Café/Restaurant. The ambiance was romantic and white linen clothes –a nice French restaurant. There are several dining rooms and it was pretty full tonight! The Dine LA menu looked fabulous, even if it was a bit pricey for what you get. We had the Lobster Bisque and Escargot for starters. The escargot were okay, could be more garlic and seemed too chewy. The Bisque was disappointing after other reviews on here I expected it to be «to die for» but it seemed more like Tomato bisque than Lobster with a few shreds of lobster in it. I mean the dominant taste was tomato. Thats not what I call lobster bisque, sorry. For the main course, my partner had the Steak & Lobster dinner($ 40) and I had the King Salmon($ 30). His fillet mignon steak was supposed to be medium rare but it was a little too rare, but it was fork tender and tasty! I recommend the STEAK. The lobster was not remarkable(probably frozen), and tasted like«cruise ship» mass cooked lobster. I was disappointed in the«salmon» I thought tasted like chicken or? It was kinda whitish and lumpy and did not appear or quite taste like salmon. Oh well! The presentation was truly artistic! The baked potato with sour cream was delicious and there were about three snap peas. Surprizingly, our waitress Cerina, disappeared after the food was dropped off, and we were not able to get lemon for our fish or ice water until near the end of dinner. Service could have been better but it was busy. The dessert –chocolate flourless cake melted in our mouths, very light and gelantinous, and I don’t know what was in it!(Ingredients, please?) The sorbet trio was mango, lime, and raspberry and was a bit too tart for me. The house wine Merlot and Chandonnary were decent. The tally was $ 91.00. I think the Salmon dinner I had at California Fresh the other night was much fresher and generous and was only $ 9.95. Of course the romantic ambiance was nicer at Café Bizou. To top off the night —when we got to our car, we found a parking ticket! We parked on the side street where it said 2 hr parking until 6pm… we did not notice the sign above said no parking nightly… soooo…we got a $ 68.00 parking ticket to remember this visit by. I don’t think we will be venturing«over the hill» again to that town for some time. Don’t order the«salmon.»
