Prime Gardens

Prime Gardens did a great job on our backyard renovation (including demo, outdoor kitchen and turf installation, as well as lighting, plants, and stepping stones). We consulted with multiple companies before deciding to hire them based on their innovative ideas and competitive price point. From day one, we felt like we were in good hands with Ali, Sina and the team. They were flexible when we asked for last minute design tweaks and they were always very professional. Although the project took a little longer than initially expected, the team worked diligently to address new issues and were available virtually ²⁴⁄₇ to answer our questions or concerns. We highly recommend.

Prime Gardens installed my garden lighting and built a back fence. I had an old Indian door that needed to be incorporated. Ali and Sina could not have been nicer. They are super cooperative and go above and beyond. Their teams are polite, punctual, and professional. Who could ask for more! I recommend them highly.

They stand behind their plant guarantee. We had to have several plants replaced and Prime Gardens did it with no problems. The two guys sent to our house were very courteous and professional. They were also patient in answering questions we had about our plants and watering system.

I called about 2 months ago to get an estimate for my driveway. Great outcome and the gentleman with the name of Sina had the best client relationship and delivered what was expected. The crew was very professional and always cleaned up. Now I want them to build a pergola over out back patio after my tax refund.

What can I say. I called well over 10 contractors to provide me a quote on a backyard kitchen and 3 gave me serious quotes. All the quotes were very professional, but Ali did more than provide a quote for the work. He listened to my overall idea and plan, and then provided advice. His quote was extremely reasonable. My gut said they were the ones to go with and I made an excellent choice. Ali and Sina were always updating me on progress, and their crew was amazing. They were professional and stayed on schedule. Our back yard was suffering (dead grass, un-​needed concrete stones, no landscaping plants), and they transformed it beautifully. I have photographed over a dozen projects for Prime Gardens. They are very knowledgeable in what they do — from design, to helping their clients pick the right plants/​pavers/​grass/​etc, to installation, and delivering the final result. Sina and his crew are very professional and personable. Every time I take pictures for Prime Gardens, either Sina or one of his employees is there to make sure that everything is clean and camera-​ready. I am impressed with how they cared about their work! I highly recommend this business!

Prime Gardens helped me remove 2000 square footage of turf and replace it with a great drought tolerant garden, which was approved by the city for a huge rebate. Put simply they were VERY easy to communicate with, easy to work with, and have been overseeing the process carefully through to the end. With Prime gardens you are paying for professionalism, and accuracy.
I was first met by Ali, who was very easy to talk to and open to ideas, changes, curveballs, you name it. We made changes and adjustments right up til the end and they were made without complaint or hassle.
I got several quotes from other companies for the same job. Prime Gardens was not the cheapest quote, but I went with them because I felt confident that I was going to get exactly what I asked for. In the end, my wife and I spent a little more than we were planning to, but the costs were always made clear to us, and the quality we paid for did not disappoint.
I highly recommend these guys for any major landscaping and garden work.

After doing hours of research, phone calls, and making appointments to get different proposals for my front lawn landscaping project, I decided to go with Prime Gardens. I first met with Ali for the consultation and he was extremely professional and answered all of my questions. I shared with him my ideas and what I had in mind. He also had some great suggestions that I liked and made me feel like we were working as a team. Ali was extremely helpful with the whole process. We emailed each other back and forth a few times prior to making my final decision and he was very courteous and returned all emails in a timely manner. The proposal he offered me was somewhat over my budget but I decided to go with them. They are a reputable company and take pride in their work and customer satisfaction.
My front lawn looks amazing. I had my turf removed and had DG and gravel installed as well as a new drip irrigation system. Their employees are hardworking and completed the job in 3 days. Ali also helped my complete my rebate application via email after the project was done. Sina who is a business partner of Ali was also very helpful throughout the process. He initially came over to kill the turf and weeds of my front lawn and set up everything for the project. He communicated everything in a timely manner and got the job started right away. Prime Gardens did a wonderful job on our backyard landscaping project.
The job involved removing an area of lawn and replacing it with flagstone and DG,
installing new drip irrigation, fixing old sprinklers, planting aprox. 30 plants, building a vegetable box, and replacing sod.
There crew were punctual, courteous, competent, and eager to please. They took care to clean up each day before they left.
The owners Ali and Sina were readily available for any questions or concerns I had and took care to make sure that I was happy with the completed project.
Our family is now enjoying our new backyard paradise thanks to Prime gardens.

We reached-​out to Prime Gardens late 2014 to quote a re-​design of our front yard since we had cut-​down a massively overgrown tree the year prior (through a different company), which had left our yard decimated. Zach from Prime Gardens was tremendously helpful! We had a set budget from the get-​go and with Zach’s help we were able to tweak and work the design to not only fit within our budget, but provide a beautiful end-​result. Zach was also helpful in pointing-​out the rebate available to us through the state by going water tolerant. The end result is a great yard that all of our neighbors are complimentary on. Although water tolerant, we made sure to work in plenty of color and landscape features so that it doesn’t look like we’re living in the desert like so many typical water tolerant landscapes. Sina has been a great support as well, by coming out weekly to update our drip system settings so that the yard takes hold… even replacing a few plants that were dying. Can’t say enough about how happy we are! Great work guys!

We started working with Prime Gardens at the end of 2014 — we went through the turf removal program with the city and they helped us every step of the way, from start to finish.
Both Ali and Sina (owners) are communicative, professional and do exactly what they say they are going to do. Not once in 6 months have they misled or not followed through on a commitment. They are both kind and considerate and since our project has finished, Sina has stayed in touch to make sure things are growing properly… they are even replacing a few plants that died from shock or aren’t getting the right amount of sun. Additionally, their crew members are all professional and kind.
My experience with Prime Gardens has been stellar. I’ve referred them to about 6 neighbors and a few other folks and so far everyone has been happy! We wanted to get rid of our lawn ever since we moved in and finally decided to go ahead in light of the rebates being offered by DWP.
Met with Ali for a consultation first and after meeting with other landscapers paid Ali to do a design and provide us with a set of plans and pricing.
His quote was a little high but we decided to go with Prime Gardens because of Ali’s great vision and their outstanding reviews.
They started with lawn removal about 3 months ago and then waited about 2 weeks to treat the weeds and installation of our new landscape/​hardacape after that.
Sina was usually in charge of the crew and Ali made sure everything goes according to his plans.
It was a pretty extensive project including pavers, retaining wall, california friendly planting and drip irrigation. There were a few surprises after lawn removal but they handled them like pros and we just got our rebate check from DWP, Ali even helped us with filling up the rebate application.
These guys are real contractors and we couldn’t be happier with our new drought tolerant yard.

If you have been on Unilocal for a while, you have seen how companies respond to negative reviews.
90% of the time, the company addresses the customer: «Dear Sir/​Madam, we are so sorry you had this experience, please contact us to see how we can help».
Other businesses use the response as an opportunity to defend themselves and call the customer a liar. Guess what Prime Gardens did?

The week we moved into our new home, we called several companies to give us estimates on yard work. One of those companies was Prime Gardens.
Prime Gardens switched our address with another customer by mistake.
A crew from Prime Gardens arrived at our house while we were not home, and began ripping out our lawn. As soon as they realized their mistake, Prime Gardens contacted me. By then, there were several large chunks of dirt where grass had been.
Sina was apologetic at first, but my husband and I felt they were offering too little to fix their mistake. They wanted to re-​seed the lawn for us, we wanted them to re-​sod the whole lawn.
Because we don’t want big sections of dirt in our lawn while we wait for seeds to grow, and we don’t want patches of different grass. Who would?

Sina & Ali have basically been total jerks throughout this process.
From day one, they’ve accused us of trying to use their mistake to get free landscaping work from them.
The first time I met Sina, I made the mistake of engaging him in conversation about how we could landscape our front yard, and what it would cost. He told me my lawn is full of weeds.
Ever since then, he’s been like, «you said you have weeds and you want to re-​do the front yard, you’re trying to extort us»
They say, your lawn is full of weeds, you’re trying to extort us to get free work to fix your weeds. Weeds, weeds, weeds. Every correspondence we’ve had with these guys, they mention weeds, and how –our– weeds are not –their– responsibility.
These are the people we had to deal with.
I wrote a negative review and they threatened to sue me for slander.
I asked my lawyer to write a letter.
At this point, I asked my husband to take care of it.
He wrote to Sina & Ali and they worked out an agreement to just re-​seed the lawn.
In their response to him, they mentioned «weeds» SIX times. They are obsessed.
In the end they cut us a check for $ 500, which will pay for re-​seeding, but it’s not enough to also sod the dirt patches while the seeds grow.
They’ve asked repeatedly for us to revise the review — which I’m now doing.
Sorry it’s not the revision you were hoping for, guys.
If I have to look at patches of dirt in my front yard, you have to look at a bad review.

In their response to my review (which was brief and true), these guys have:
called me a liar
accused me trying to extort them out of $ 8400,
accused me of slander
created a post on their facebook page dedicated to discrediting me
all the while, asking us to remove our review.
Also in this response they accuse another Unilocaler of being in cahoots with us, as if we are criminal masterminds.

Here’s the full email we sent to Prime Gardens — you know, the «extortion» one.
We didn’t send the letter from our lawyer, because Prime sent us a $ 500 check. We decided to cash it, and call it quits.
Sina,
As we discussed from the beginning, the best way to correct your mistake the right way is to pay a very reasonable rate to have another landscaping company re-​sod the front lawn. You stated that your bottom-​line cost to do the work was $ 2 per square foot. My family and our attorney at [law firm] feel that a very reasonable request is to split the difference with you and you pay us $ 1 per square feet (approx $ 2400) to have the lawn replaced. We will incur the additional cost of the lawn replacement.
It is just becoming Spring and there are dormant weeds under the ground. If you throw down seed now, the entire grass and the bare patches where you ripped out our front lawn will be full of even more weeds. The correct way to do this lawn is to rip it out, wait for March, spray Round-​up several times to kill all existing weeds and re-​sod. We understand that Prime Gardens is a reputable company and that you want to do the right thing here. Sometimes doing the right thing is not always what’s the cheapest or bare minimum for the company.
We understand the value of your reputation in the community. We are frequent Unilocalers, on Angie’s List, Houzz, etc. Nobody wants to go to court or tarnish your reputation in this community. We’d like you to send us a check for $ 2400 and call it a day. We trust you will do the right thing here. A letter from [law firm] should arrive in a day or so.

I found Prime Gardens online last October. I called them to get a consultation for my back yard to remove my lawn and go «California friendly» using the DWP’s rebate program. Had a free consultation scheduled. Few days later a rep. By the name of Ali came for the consultation. Very knowledgeable and creative, came up with a few great ideas for our yard including a fire pit, some new plants, artificial turf, drip watering and even some stone pathways! We then agreed to pay the $ 400 for the design and drafting. We decided to move forward and called Sina to schedule for the designer to take measurements of the yard shortly after. Ali came back in about 2 weeks with a set of plans and comprehensive bid, which the plans were great but the bid was a little over our budget and we decided to get a few other quotes. We called a few different landscapers and companies and got bids based on plans provided by Prime Gardens. I was able to find some cheaper prices but I wasn’t so impressed some of them didn’t show up on time and I found it very frustrating. Ali’s knowledge and professionalism was key in my final decision. So I waited to start in feb. As soon as we came to an agreement we signed the contract and they started a few days after. From there on the whole installation went perfectly smooth. Their crew was polite, punctual and clean. Sina was present on site so it made things easy. Ali also stopped by frequently and made sure everything is as planned. Now 2.5 weeks later our back yard is all done! Totally renovated and without wasting all that water like before. Its great to know that I don’t need a gardener to mow it every week now and I don’t wake up to the sound of that god awful leaf blower

I hired Prime Gardens (formerly Neighborhood Gardening) to take care of my mom’s very large yard after my father passed away. First, we needed to update the sprinklers to cover not just the turf, but the many planters, fruit trees, etc. that had been hand watered. That meant adding several more stations, replumbing and rerouting water lines and tying all 12 stations into a smart controller. We also removed over 1,000 sq. ft. of turf and replaced it with decomposed granite.
Ali is the sales guy and Sina coordinates the actual work.
We were very pleased with the results and the timeliness of the work. It’s hard to find contractors who show up when they are supposed to be there and actually finish the job on time and for the contract amount. A few of the valve actuators didn’t work and they were right there to fix everything whenever a problem cropped up, with no additional charge.
We hired PG again to take out the turf on our parkway (over 400 sq. ft.), install soaker hose and drought-​resistant ground cover. We went through several iteration of the job before we settled on the final choice, and Ali was very helpful with giving us estimates, talking to LA about permits (ugh) and explaining why some choices cost more than others. Again, the work was done promptly, everything was cleaned up and now we are saving even more water.
The biggest project was 5000 sq ft of turf removal and installation of drought tolerant landscaping. It included a complete replumbing of the sprinkler system to be soaker hoses and other low water use systems. There was a concrete pad and electrical lines too. The entire job was done on time and for the agreed budget. My mother is very pleased and her new yard is a showcase and model for the whole neighborhood.
Prime Gardens continues to do the monthly maintenance, including reseeding, aeration, sprinkler adjustments, plant replacement and tree trimming. Sina uses the smartphone app to adjust and control the sprinklers. Cool tech! (I bought the Hydroflash controller before PG was hired.)
While the place isn’t attended to daily as it was when my dad was alive, the work done by PG maintains the property beautifully and my mom is very pleased (and she’s hard to please).
I would definitely recommend them to others looking for both landscape maintenance and larger jobs.

My mother found these guys online and after talking to Sina over the phone Ali came over for a consultation. We wanted to redo our landscape with drought tolerant plants and drip sprinkler so Ali took some pictures of our front yard and came back after a few days with a visual design and a firm quote as promised. Their quote was the highest between all the ones we got (reason for 4 star rating) but we decided to go with them because of their great reviews and Ali’s design.
They started the project after 3 weeks and either Ali or Sina was always supervising the crews removing the lawn, installing drip lines and new plants. They were always on time and cleaned up everyday before leaving!
The job was done on time as promised and our yard looks really amazing now ;)
We also got a quote from them for putting a new stone patio and pergola in the back that we definitely will go with now that the front is done.

My mom hired these guys for the backyard and we were sold after we saw the design. Ali and Sam are very friendly and expert in what they do.

finally decided to fix our front yard, we had dead grass some old and ugly plants and an empty planter full of weeds so I went to the nursery trying to pick up some plants but they couldn’t help me pick and choose and I kinda got the feeling that they don’t know what will do fine in our front yard since we have a huge tree there but it only provides shade to half of the yard. We got frustrated and ended up not buying anything, i spoke to one of my friends that recently had some work done on his house and he suggested i use the same people that did his yard.
So I called and spoke to Sina he was really nice and setup an appointment with Ali for the next day. Ali was really knowledgeable and did this great design right on his ipad in front us helping us choose all the right plants so that we will have colors year long. He also suggested we retrofit our old sprinklers which I agreed to even though I didn’t really get the point to it at the beginning but it semmed like a good deal and Ali was very helpful and patient with all the questions i had about it.
One of them was always on the job making sure everything goes well and our yard looks great now. I should say He was definitely right about the sprinklers, the new ones don’t mist or over shoot on my car anymore so I imagine we are saving a lot of water now. They are coming back in 2 weeks to check on eveythimg and adjust our timer
