Rufus and Delilah

I’ve used this place twice now this year while vacationing. Had 2 different sitters for my cat, but each one was friendly and comforting to me before leaving. My cat seemed in good spirits and well taken care of when I returned too. And I LOVE the daily emails about how she was doing as well. I’ll be using them again for sure

I have been with Rufus and Delilah, formerly ClawsandPaws, since its inception. Our mixed-​breed Chow-​Akita-​German Shepherd, Honey, turns 11 in November. The owner, Jennifer S., was our dog walker before she formed her own business. Despite the fact that I write for a living, I really don’t have the words to express how tremendous this business is, and what it has meant to our family. In almost 10 years of daily walks, none of our dog walkers or sitters has ever called in sick or missed a day. How is that possible? When our current walker, Jen H., brings Honey back, Honey clings to her, and sulks for a bit after she’s gone. They love each other. Our overnight sitter, Lisa, is so sweet, and so smart, and leaves us detailed reports on Honey’s day when we’re out of town. Rufus and Delilah has done emergency transportations for us also, and thank God we had them at that time. We even learned about Honey’s favorite Los Angeles dog park from Jennifer S. When I consider the services that add value to my life, Rufus and Delilah always ranks Number One. Thank you R&D, for another great year. All our love, Maureen and Ken Green, Los Angeles.

I feel it’s only fair to write a meh review for. this business because at first I was thrilled with them but it quickly became disappointing. I did like that they came to meet me and the dogs initially and took a lot of time to compile info about their needs. Laura my walker (no longer with them) was nice and the pups liked her. The prices were slightly high but I wanted good service and the company had good reviews so I dealt with the cost. After a while it seemed less and less personal. The walker left the balcony door wide open one day, forgot to leave notes and they always seemed put out when my needs were «last minute» or a change up in the schedule. Then outa no where my walker was quitting and they wanted to charge me for the meet and greets for a temp walker then for another permanent walker. I voiced my concern since the walker quitting wasn’t my fault! So they said they would comp one of the meet n greets. Which was nice but why do I have to pay for the meet and greets at all I’m paying a high rate as it is and it’s not my fault the walker quit.
Payment was also a pain in the ass… Credit cards or PayPal are easy and pretty standard but I have to physically mail a damn check every time because I didn’t want to do quickpay. I also couldn’t drop it off (I lived like 2 blocks away from the addy) so that was pretty irritating.
Another thing that really bugged was when I would email a concern they would copy and paste what I wrote into like a auto response for that issue… Talk to me like a human your company isn’t that big. Anyways I found a company I love with much lower prices and better service for what I needed for my pups. Look the walkers are ok with dogs but for the cold demeanor and price… I highly recommend shopping around before jumping in bed with these guys. They aren’t awful but they aren’t the best either. Just MEH.

Lisa is my dog walker, I use her a couple times a week and have been a client for about five months.
The company did a very thorough set up process with me and I was able to meet Lisa before I turned over the keys to my place and let her take care of my dog, which was comforting. Lisa is tremendous and really seems to care for my dog.
Payment is easy, I just do a transfer from my bank to theirs (this works with any bank that has transfer ability, not just Chase) whenever I get an invoice.
My only complaint is that you basically have to give 48 hours notice, or more, if you need to make a change, otherwise you’re penalized. Because of that, I take my dog to daycare more often during the week and then make sure that I schedule my appointments on those days so I don’t have to disrupt the dog walking schedule within the penalty period.

We recently started up with R&D dog walking for our little guy, and it’s given me great peace of mind. We’ve had the same walker for all of our visits (hi Lisa!), which is really important to me. I definitely wouldn’t want a revolving door of people coming through my place, both for myself and for my dog. It’s better that he have a relationship with one trusted person, and so far they have provided that. Very happy with our initial experience with them.

Small businesses put a great deal of effort into ‘ramping up’ their clientele, but well-​advised, long-​term businesses usually understand in order to keep yourself «coasting» you have to keep those customers happy. Rufus and Delilah has failed in that category. I speak not only as a pet owner, but as a small-​business owner.
after my initial stellar experience with them, I have not been able to replicate my amazing experience with them. I’ve tried several times to book them to watch my dogs, and offer the same services (overnight stays and walks throughout the day) but according to the owner they’ve stopped doing overnight stays and are no longer offering the same sitter throughout your booking, so everyday while we are on vacation, my dogs would be met with a different stranger coming through our front door while their owners are away. yup. that’s a great idea absolutely never.
They’ve become too hard to deal with, with the prices they’re charging I could get away with boarding them with someone who’s around 24 hours a day, instead of sporadically, and that at best.
I’m so sorry they fell so far so fast. Los Angeles has a myriad of choices for dog-​sitting/​boarding. I’m glad they’re not the only game in town. I’m so sorry they’re no longer the best.

While the service they provide is great, the pricing is high and the only way they want you to pay is by using Chase quick pay which was something they decided to change this year. Who doesn’t except credit cards? They became too hard to deal with and had bad attitudes because we did not want to join Chase quick pay.

I cannot say enough good things about Rufus and Delilah. They are reliable, responsive and accommodating. Their dog walkers are experienced and friendly. They leave notes after each walk with updates and anything of significance. Although I do not have the contact information of my dog walker, the pack leader is always available to communicate my last-​minute requests and make it happen, to the extent possible. I would strongly recommend Rufus and Delilah to anyone who is looking for reliable and trustworthy dog walking service.

I used Rufus and Delilah several times to care for my cat while I was away. The care was excellent. I told them that my cat loved to be brushed and he was definitely brushed every day I was away. I really appreciated the email every day to let me know how my cat was responding. Wonderful service!

Love them! Leslie takes great care and always leaves detailed notes so I know exactly how the walk went. Fair prices, too. Highly recommend.

I had a different experience with Rufus & Delilah. In the beginning I kind of thought they were odd anyway so my instincts were right. Although the dog walkers were great and I can’t say enough good things them, the way they do business is not for me. I have used pet sitting services before and they at least let you talk to the dog walkers. They are very strict and in my opinion are missing that personal touch. I think it’s odd they don’t want you to have the phone numbers of the walkers and everything goes through them. I did insist and they reluctantly gave them to me for emergencies ony. In my experience, I have always had a direct line to my pet sitters. I am guessing they are worried people with want to hire the walkers directly. I think Jennifer is cray — cray. I told her at one point I wanted to move on and she made things right. I gave her my opinion and she obviously didn’t like it, stewed on it for a few days then called me and said I’d be better off with one person. I totally agreed and happy to move on! The only reason I stayed with them in the first place was for the walkers so they wouldn’t lose business. I have already found someone fabulous to walk my dog!
On a positive note, I like that they let you know when something is amiss and that walkers leave notes everyday.

I’ve been using Rufus and Delilah for the past few months and words cannot describe how amazing they are! From Jennifer and Allison in the office, to Leslie who walks Dex every other day, they are truly amazing caring people who love what they do. Any time I come home from work and i see Dex after a day with Leslie, the look on his face is pure bliss! You guys are amazing! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!

As someone who travels full time for work, finding trustworthy people to care for my elderly cat is difficult. Using friends to do so has more often than not turned out horribly. I’m INCREDIBLY protective of my little girl — it is my responsibility to make sure she is healthy, happy, and feels loved at all times. I’ve been very let down by some of those that claimed to do all of those things in my stead.
That is, until I decided to find a sitting service. After much research, I chose Rufus and Delilah based on their many positive reviews and my interactions via email and phone with Jennifer. I couldn’t be happier or more relieved to find them. Erin was my sitter for Kiki, and she did a wonderful job. The daily snippets made me feel assured that Kiki was in good health and spirits (she’s a very needy kitty!). I’m particular in how her food/​water and litter box are handled — all of these were taken care of beautifully by Erin.

Have used Rufus and Delilah several times since my first time. They are just awesome. We love Vyrlee, our cat sitter. She’s wonderful to the cats and they are so happy when we get home that we know they’ve been well cared for. The place is just great and everyone should use them.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. Jennifer the owner and her staff are some of the most friendly and helpful people I’ve ever interacted with. I have both my dogs being walked 5x a week for half an hour with Kim (who they love!).
Anytime I’ve ever had a scheduling issue, question, concern, anything someone always answers the phone or almost immediately emails me back. Really impeccable customer service. Plus, when my dogs have been to the vet Jennifer has emailed me to check in and make sure they’re okay. That’s not something you’ll find just anywhere.

We used Rufus and Delilah to walk our two small (and very energetic) dogs while we went out of town for the weekend. This was the first time we left our babies at home while we went away so we were obviously very nervous. Jennifer couldn’t have been more professional during the consultation and put us at ease that our dogs would be well taken care of. We will definitely use them again in the future.

I’ve been using them for a few years and they just provide a great service. Never any problems, always on time, and such a relief to go out of town knowing your pets are comfortable in their own home. Highly recommended. Once you use them, you never worry about going away again, because you know your pets are safe in their own home.

We’ve used Rufus and Delilah to cat-​sit for us on three occasions and could not be happier with the service. They’re affordable and VERY professional. I’m pretty cautious about who we’ll allow access to our house, especially when we’re away. The pre-​service interview was very helpful. We got to meet our cat sitter beforehand, and go over all of their policies. At first, I thought the interview was overkill, but afterwards I felt reassured that our cat was in good hands and that we could trust the company and sitters with a key to our abode.
When they first provided service, they posted a very cute photo and story about our cat on Facebook. Upon return from or trips, we get a detailed account of each daily visit. On request, they’ll even text or email photos during your trip.
Their service so far has been impeccable! No complaints at all.

Getting ready to go on a two week vacation can be stressful, but add in the element of leaving a pet behind and a normal person can become a nervous wreck! That’s how I felt in the month leading up to my two-​week trip. My regular catsitter had recently moved away and I was having difficulty finding a service that would come to our area. Thankfully I found Rufus and Delilah through Unilocal and Angie’s List.
Their process is very easy and from the get-​go I could tell that everyone in their organization is a dedicated animal lover. We had an in-​home consultation before our trip so we could introduce them to our kitty, show them around, and answer any additional questions. I expressed my nervousness about leaving my «baby» for such a long time, but I was immediately put at ease. We scheduled daily half hour visits that included changing food and water, litter box, watering plants, and taking out the garbage cans.
My husband and I felt completely confident and relaxed as we flew off to Europe. We received daily email updates from R&D, keeping us in the loop at all times. When we got home everything was perfectly cared for, but most importantly our cat was very happy. I am so glad that we used Rufus & Delilah and would not hesitate to use them again!

This used to be known as Claws N Paws and we had a great walker named Kim.
Kim would walk our 2 dogs and I knew they were really comfortable with her bc they seemed happy and relaxed when I would come home. She also worked with us on problem-​solving how to get one of our dogs from jumping out of the den where her bed was during the day. Kim power-​walked our active cocker spaniel mix bc she needs lots of excercise and knew to take it easy with our older, special needs pug who hates excercise!
She would leave me notes on their snack, who pottied and who didn’t, how she played with our pups, etc and owners Jennifer & Donna were incredible about having another dog walker come when Kim couldn’t make it and would always contact me first to see if it was okay. Super friendly and super professional.
I’m so glad we found Kim and our girls really liked her. And I could tell she liked our girls.
