So worth the drive! This place made my day! We’re going back next Friday for the tamales de chipilin

Guacamole is truly some of the best I’ve had, fresh and delicious. I ordered a cheese & jalapeño pupusa, a pork pupusa and a shreadded beef taco. My daughter had the beef fajita burrito and a side of rice. The pork pupusa was the only disappointing item I ordered. The tall young man who took our order provided service which was less than I expected given the reviews about the attentive staff(not today!).

This place is awesome! Great food at a good price. The is not your typical Spanish food place. This place is a cultural experience.(if your not from El Salvador) and home if you are.

I love La Placita! It’s one of the few places in Sherman where you’ll find equal parts locals and college students. Their pupusas are without hesitation the best I have ever had – and probably will ever. It’s a wonderful local place with great service and a community centered feel. Whether they’re setting up at 903 Brewers to feed the masses or you drop by their unassuming looking restaurant, I promise that La Placita will not disappoint.

I cannot stress enough how wonderful the food and service are here!!! Oh my goodness. It’s not a date night place unless you want a very simple setting. But the food is beyond amazing!

Best Salvadoran food that I have every had! I grew up enjoying the original Gloria’s in Oak Cliff and La Placita blows them away. I will be stopping by every trip through Sherman. The service was wonderful too. So friendly and casual. Thank you for the delicious food!

I love the fact that this place is running out of an old gas station. Great food. The pupupas are awesome, I always order the Jalepeno and queso and the mega pupusas. If you are looking for mexican, try another restaurant. This place is real deal Salvadoran. Glad it’s nearby.

The tacos are ok but the meat was very tough. It’s in a old gas station but there is plenty of seating. A lot of people love this place but I have found better elsewhere.

Wow. Dropping my son off at college looking for some Mexican food before I headed back home. Found this place on Unilocal search. The reviews were right on. Food is delicious. No guacamole but we didn’t need any. We tried two pupusas each, a tamale, a taco, and some rice. Everything was so tasty. And the price was, well, I felt like I was stealing it was so cheap. I will be back next time I visit my son in college.

Very friendly staff, clean facilities, great food, and authentic. Prices are very affordable abs the salsa is hot with different varieties.

The spinach and cheese was great. I even liked the tamales for the first time. The sour cabbage was fantastic as well.

Simple, yet great Mexican and Salvadorian food. The menu is simple but it has everything that you would crave, from soups to tacos, pupusas(of course!) and housemade slaw and hot sauce to go on everything. I came here for a quick snack and grabbed a jalepeno and cheese pupusas and a chicharron pupusa. A nice little snack for about 3 bucks. It took about 10 minutes for them to make them but it was well worth the wait. The ladies working up front were all very friendly and quick to take orders.

I’m such a fan of their pupusas that I have a standing weekly lunch date with a co-worker.
You order your food at the counter and the drinks are self-serve from a refrigerated case unless you get one of the house-made juices at the counter. The mango is my favorite of the rotating flavors. In the case at the back they have bottled sodas like Mexican Coke, orange Fanta(my fave), and a crazy good banana soda or you could pick from more traditional iced teas and canned sodas. If it’s your first visit the menu has pictures to show what you’re getting so you can just point if you don’t speak Spanish! I don’t speak Spanish, but I always feel comfortable ordering in English so don’t let that stop you either. Don’t miss the dessert case with the chocolate cake topped with flan! The desserts are packed in to-go containers. Trust me, you won’t have room for a dessert after your meal so get something for later. My standard order is 2 – 3 pupusas topped with the cabbage and spicy sauce and it fills me up. La Placita is in a converted gas/service station which I think really adds to the charm! It’s part restaurant, part market. The owner, Walter, is really friendly and appreciative of his customers. Carpool if you can — this place is really popular and the parking lot can get crowded.

This place is in an old renovated gas station. Outside looks like an orange gas station but inside looks like any other restaurant with a long shelf with dry goods. The restaurant is extremely casual. You can come in, order at the counter then sit down or seat yourself and a waitress will bring you a menu. The menu is small but still offers a decent variety of food options. My favorites are papusas and guaraches. Papusas are best described as El Salvadorian hot pockets. My favorite is the no. 4, mixed meat and cheese. And guaraches can be compared to tostadas. Except that they use a thick tortilla instead of a crispy corn tortilla used in Tex-Mex cooking. You can order everything ale carte and the prices are really reasonable.

The best pupusa’s I’ve ever had came a few years ago in Belize. Ever since, I’ve been searching Dallas for something to compare. It was not until my Sherman buddy brought me to this joint that I’ve found anything close. This place is the real deal. The ambiance is excellent, with Salvadorian treats lined on the walls, accompanied with South American countries’ flags. Once I set a foot in the door, I knew I was going to love this place. And just as the décor was authentic, the food was on point. The fried plantains had a nice crunch and sweetness too them, without being too soggy. Definitely the best I’ve had in the states. I also ordered a spinach and cheese pupusa and a mixed(meat, cheese, bean) pupusa. Both rivaled those pupusas I had in Belize. I also ate a fajita beef gordita. The tortilla was fresh and tasty and the beef tender and flavorful. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. If one’s ever in sherman, he/she must eat here!

Ok brought family to try out the dine in experience and was a little disappointed. The servers never asked us what we wanted to drink. The chips served were straight from an on the border bag. At least open that in the kitchen. They also forgot to bring out the tamales I ordered.
