Love the Black Pearl!!! We have been going here for years and the food is consistently wonderful!!! Don’t expect trashy American Chinese food – whatever this is, it is fresh and delicious. The veggies are always still the right color as opposed to being gray from overcooking. The Heavenly General Tao’s Chicken is amazing – big chunks of tender white chicken enfolded in coating and delicious sauce. Their homemade noodles are out of this world, especially with loads of veggies, tofu, and/or meat. The chef comes out sometimes to ask how the food was – such a nice, kind man. SO much better than other places such as the Snappy Dragon. Sure, the inside of the restaurant is a bit neglected. But, as mentioned by another reviewer, never, never have felt ill after eating their food, unlike other Chinese restaurants. Oh, and be sure to get an order of the vegetarian potstickers – stuffed with spinach and garlic. Oh My!!!

Hour and a half for delivery. Quoted 40 minutes. Asked for a discount and was told to do pick up next time, it’ll only take 20 minutes. LOL. We won’t be ordering from them again. Customer service does count for something, and there is zero here.

We order takeout here. Food is ok some dishes are terrible others are good. The homemade noodle are bland and greasey. At least they dont overcook veggies, and the fried chicken dishes are good.

I have to confess I have a soft spot for this place. The owners(I think they are a married couple) are so sweet. When you dine in the establishment, they give you a great value for your money. Lots of food, great price. Order delivery? They pack those containers FULL. One order of sesame beef was enough to feed five people. Plus, they deliver to us all the time, even though I know we have to be outside their delivery area. They’re just nice people. The food quality is good for the most part. There have been a couple times some of our meat has been on the dry side, but overwhelmingly the food has been fresh and tasty. My husband and I love this place. We will keep going to/ordering from Black Pearl as long as they’re around.

I really enjoyed my experience here! Because I start work at 12:30 and forgot a lunch, I came in about 30 minutes after they opened. The staff was very friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. Their lunch special was a decent price for the amount of food: sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, BBQ pork pieces and hot & sour soup for less than $ 10. The food was good! Different than other S&S chicken I’ve had before but it’s still tasty.

It nice to see kindness and friendliness and to be served with such enthusasm. Always wanting to here feedback and enjoying your compliments. The fried rice special is what started me coming back again and again. It’s nice to eat food that was cooked so well and I enjoyed with fevor! 5 stars for the people and the food !

I have only had their delivery, and it’s wonderful. I usually order the Happy Family, the portion is generous(enough for leftovers the next day), the veggies are fresh, and the shrimp is never overdone(bonus points there!). It always arrives piping hot and in a sturdy plastic container(that I save and still use, lol). The folks who deliver are polite and always smiling.

Nope. I ordered here because I liked their general so. I also ordered vegetable fried rice. This was the fail. They use frozen carrot, peas and corn, corn?! There was some bad broccoli pieces too. I will not buy food from a restaurant that does not use fresh produce, sorry! Got to look out for my body.

What a little hidden gem! We walked in for the first time last night, ½ hour before closing. We were greeted warmly. Very friendly staff that was extremely attentive. The food was delicious! Ordered the homemade noodles and was not disappointed. Going back soon to try other dishes.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Fried dishes were soggy sauces were weak tasting and flat. The soup I ordered was horrible. Even the rice was not good how do you mess up rice?

I ate in for lunch one Saturday. I had some sort of lunch combo with sweet and sour chicken(my benchmark when trying a new Chinese restaurant). The staff were pleasant and friendly, the restaurant shabby and the food very poor. Blech, really bland, gelatinous grossness. Chinese food of the Americanized, deep-fried variety is a favourite of mine but I would not eat here again.

With a single exception, really terrible food that I got for takeout. After reading other Unilocal reviews, I was sure to order the Spicy Peanut Wontons, along with Szechuan Garlic Beef, Kung Pao Chicken and Pork Chow Mein with Handmade Noodles. The wontons were very good, but would be easy to duplicate at home. The garlic beef was okay but unremarkable. The Kung Pao chicken was unrecognizable as Kung Pao with large slices of dry chicken breast and almost no sauce or flavor. Even the peanuts were weird. The chow mein was bland with large, thick tough noodles. Steer clear of the«homemade noodles». They’re simply horrible. Never again, Black Pearl. I don’t know how you stay in business.

I’ve lived a block from this place for 10 years now and it is a mixed bag. The Good Their delivery is good(yes I order delivery a block away). They get you your food, as you ordered about when they tell you it will arrive or a bit earlier. The portions are generous but not ridiculous. The pot stickers are more like full on dumplings and are among my favorites in seattle. Thick and flavorful, especially with the sauce they include. General Tso’s is good here, not the best but its solid and reliable with nice white meat chunks. Mongolian beef is also pretty good, and their home made noodles are thick and chewy. Moo Shu pork here is really nice as well. I like some other places better, but I like a lot of other chinese food a lot less. The not so Good If you dine in, the place is dirty and neglected looking. You can see the kitchen and you often wish you couldn’t. Where they actually make the food, not too bad but there is dust and grime in every unused corner of the place. Mind you I’ve heaten here probably a hundred times and never been sick from it, but it ain’t pretty.

I usually order take out from this place and have sticked to our favorites: general tso’s chicken, Szechuan shredded pork(spicy), sweet and sour pork, homemade noodles and orange chicken. I really like they use only white meat and I’ve never found yucky gummy pieces like tendons in the chicken or the pork like you usually find in other places and especially with fried chicken. I prefer to pay more and not having to deal with nasty surprises, besides, you can easily feed 3 people if you get 2 entrees. I’m not a fan of their egg rolls or soups though, they need to improve the seasoning.

I wondered why this place was almost deserted at 1 in the afternoon. I ordered the home made noodles and mixed seafood. The noodles were bland and tasteless. The seafood tasted off, old and spongy. Some of the shrimp seemed under cooked. The water chestnuts and cabbage tasted fermented as if they had been around too long. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Absolutely disgusting!

This business is very dirty. I’ve personally gone into the establishment with my parents and were quickly seated however the glasses were dirty, there were floaters in all of our drinking water and the business smelled pungently of gas and rotten fish. My husband unfortunately did not believe this experience and proceeded to order take out, at its arrival I refused, he ate it but found two pieces of hair. This business does not appear follow guidelines.

I was looking for some Chinese delivery. With a bunch of polarized reviews here(lots of good and lots of bad-ish), I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Beef Chowmein with the homemade noodles. The Food: The meal was huge! No rice included(seriously?). The entrée had flavor, but it is like it was lacking salt(although I’m certain there is a ton in it). The flavor just didn’t jump out as anything special. The homemade noodles are super thick, a bit much honestly. The Service: The guy answering the phone was hard to understand, but he was very nice. The delivery driver was also very nice. Service was not an issue whatsoever. If I could give them a score for service it would have been a 4⁄5. The delivery was very prompt Would I order there again? Maybe, but definitely not the chowmein.

How good does eggplant schezuan with tofu and tomatoes sound? so delicious! I really like that they always offer brown rice. Portions are huge, so there’s always enough for lunch the next day. I always judge chinese restaurants by their hot and sour soup, and theirs is always great. One thing that I thought was weird tho, was that last couple of times I’ve gone, the tea cups have been. sticky… like the sanitizer ratio in the dishwasher needs adjusted. Anyone else notice this? So the food is really delicious, but I suggest taking advantage of their delivery service, or calling in an order before leaving work and pick it up on the way home.
