Fred Meyer

I came in to buy some tools after moving and a dining room table set caught my eye along with a new rug at 20% off. Both items were cheaper than IKEA’s prices and better quality, too.
Asked for help and someone radioed for a manager who met me fast. He directed me to meet him in the back of the store to pick up the furniture after payment.
When he met him to get the furniture, I waited for about 10 minutes then called the store. He came out right away and told me in the future there’s a call box on the wall. Didn’t see it! Since the box with all of the parts was too large to fit in my car, he unloaded the table top and I carried the rest. He covered the table top with some foam to protect it so it wouldn’t get dinged or scratched on the drive home.
One thing that I learned that wasn’t the best experience was that if you are paying with a check for the first time, Fred Meyer’s system won’t let it be processed, regardless of your credit. They require a process to make sure it’s you and not someone writing fraudulent checks. Save yourself time and just use a card.

Fred Meyer has lower prices than QFC, Albertsons, Safeway and Central Market. You can get lower prices at WINCO, Grocery Outlet and Wal-​Mart but the quality of meat and produce is worse. The produce is what keeps bringing me back to Fred Meyer. It is always fresh and reasonably priced. Store brands and sale items are usually attractively priced as well. I shop the other stores but I almost always wind up stopping at Fred Meyer for produce. Prices on most items are about 20% less than Albertsons and Safeway and 15% or so cheaper than QFC. I especially like that Fred Meyer has Boston lettuce at $ 1.29 a head. That is my favorite lettuce and most stores do not stock it.

This is an older location. I was not pleased with the inventory or the upkeep of the store. It isn’t in the ballpark with the location on 196 in Lynnwood.
The inventory and layout seems to be designed with stop loss procedures in mind. Theft must be important or prevalent in this area.

I’m not too thrilled with this Fred Meyer.
I’ve been to others and my favorite is definitely the 85^th St Fred Meyer or the 196^th St one but unfortunately this Fred Meyer is the closest to me which makes it the more logical shopping destination.
That being said, Trader Joes recently opened up so they may be receiving more of my business though I am condemned to frequent this Fred Meyer for house hold goods outside of food.
This Fred Meyer reminds me that it is on 99. From the moment you pull in, you’re reminded that Aurora is literally right there. You come in and are assaulted by ill kept shelves and dirty aisles. The items are every which way and there is always an employee standing in the dead center doing something unproductive. Some of the staff here will actually argue with you… Their saving grace is a limited selection of their employees, to be more precise the ones that more often than not oversee the self checkout lanes. The light skinned black guy that wears shorts sometimes and two of the girls. They are pretty nice people and are quick to assist or answer a question. They are the reason I gave two stars. Outside of that, the remainder of the tellers don’t seem to like their jobs or have become so disillusioned by their working life that they’ve simply said «f**k it.» They either work incredibly slowly or talk rubbish. When I come shopping I want to be in and out.
This Fred Meyer makes me think that it is a Wal-​Mart in disguise. I have asked a worker where something was and they actually said «Sorry, I’m on break.» I don’t know who makes the staffing decisions but it needs to be thought over. Everything needs to be thought over. I mean thoroughly, from the meat to painting supplies and everything/​anything in between.

This is my usual 2^nd choice of Fred Meyer based on location. This store gets crowded! The aisles are somewhat tight, but the most difficult problem is displays in the middle of the aisles when carts and shoppers barely fit thru.
Some departments/​products are skeleton compared to other stores.
The produce department is fairly good; the staff probably the best in the store.
If you hit the wrong customer service person at the counter, best to try again another day, have really had «all out» bad customer service and attitude there from one gal in particular. Her manager wasn’t much better. I ended up leaving the store and this was when I was the only customer at the counter at 7:05 am.
The customer base in this store is fairly friendly and laid back, so if you can deal with the tight spaces and smaller selection, not a bad place for quick stops.
I did make a jewelry purchase 6 years ago, the staff in that dept was pretty spot on like produce dept.

I will not do any major shopping at this chain until they get real paper bags that handles. Its difficult to carry the current clumsy paper bags.

Two thumbs down for Jonah at the customer service department. He wouldn’t take my Christmas gift I had gotten my boyfriend without the receipt and didn’t offer me the chance to possibly exchange it instead for a different size or style either (which I was hoping for in the first place).

5 stars but only if you go when when the Seahawks play. Otherwise, it’s like a roller derby.

This place is the worst.
The fine folks who have jobs there missed out on the time when one learns to say «please» and «thank you».
Customer Service sucks. Did you guys ever hear of The Ten Feet Rule? (Google it.)

The Beer Section is always a disorganized neglected disaster. How difficult is it to restock and face your section… Mr/​Ms Beverage Manager?
I could go on and on… but, you get the picture.
Avoid this creepy dump.
There are many other great choices with great customer service and better prices.

I’ve been going to Fred Meyers for years and years. Although I love them, I feel like their prices and not staying competitive. I think you’ll find at least a 20% markup of grocery items compared to other stores like target or Walmart. For example they’re charging $ 5 for 100 bags of Lipton tea when you can get it at Target for $ 3.29. Their produce is also getting pretty expensive. I found much better prices at Ranch Market.
Trader Joes is supposed to open soon in Shoreline. I cNf wait!

So terrible. I come to Fred Meyer to get a fan and a shelf to put the fan on. I asked 3 – 4 different staff member and no one seemed to understand what I was asking for. I was going to ask a fifth employee where those items would be located but she was too busy on her cell phone, and when she saw me start walking toward her she walked in the other direction. This Fred Meyer has the worst staff. If I was the owner of that Fred Meyer I would clean house immediately.

WOW. I’ve been to many Fred Meyers in my time and this place is a complete and total DUMP. The store is laid out poorly, the aisles are too close together and the workers were all completely unpleasant.
I was really and truly shocked at this location’s service, cleanliness and level of professionalism!

Hey there went back to this Fred Meyer’s location and as per usual I wasn’t disappointed. it’s easy to find what you need and the employees there are so nice and so helpful.

My experiences over the last year or so at this location have not improved. Rather, it has gotten worse. I’ve been going to Freddy’s in Oregon and Washington for over 20 years. This is by far, the worst location I’ve been to.
I must say that the customer service here is pretty good, which is why I’m giving it 2 starts, instead of 1. Whether I’ve encountered stock clerks, cashiers, or customer service reps, they’ve all offered me good customer service and that is commendable.
That being said, there is so much room for improvement here. I mentioned the produce in my last review. It is now to the point where I don’t buy ANY produce here which defeats the purpose of «one stop shopping.» Additionally, the meat is okay but again, the price to quality ratio is way off. It’s okay to have expensive meat if there is corresponding quality but that’s not the case. Another frequent issue is being out of sale items. Now, if this were 20 years ago, I would understand that grocers may have issues ordering appropriate stock for customers. However, with the advent of the Fred Meyer Rewards card, there is a way to track purchases and therefore, make educated decisions about how much stock to order.
I often stop here because I am going by on the way home. It’s very frustrating that every trip here ends with a stop at another store because the product was subpar, overpriced, or not on the shelf.

It was an emergency shopping for my mushroom hunt trip the next day. When I went there, it was pretty late. I was trying to find a basket which I can put mushroom in while hunting. I didn’t want to walk around and look for one. Therefore, I just asked an employee at the store. She was so friendly and gave me general direction to where I should be. I found a basket shortly, even better, it was also 25% off.
It’s a medium size basket and I carried about 3 – 5 lbs of chanterelle mushrooms in my basket. It’s just AWESOME!

This is our main Fred Meyer at the moment. We live a little closer to the Lake City location, but Seattle has a stupid plastic bag ban, so we usually come here.
This is an average sized Fred Meyer with average selection. I’ve always had perfectly fine customer service. They have a coffee stand and hot deli in the store. I think my husband and I once spent 2 hours here on a kidless date, between eating and shopping. Dates tend to get less exciting after you have kids ;)
Location is slightly sketchy, not the best part of Aurora (though certainly not the worst).
I wish we lived closer, we have a QFC a block from us, so we end up going there pretty often, and though they are both owned by Kroger, the QFC has higher prices and poorer selection.
Now if only this Fred Meyer had a gas station…

I love Fred Meyer! They literally have everything you need… I could live there! I’ve been going to this location since I was little. Anyone remember the old layout before the remodel, with the popcorn machine by the cash registers?
Anyways, this place has pretty much everything you need to find. If not the EXACT thing or brand, there’s always something similar you can get. This store is split in sections. The southern part of the store is all groceries, with a Seattle’s Best Coffee and a deli area where you can get hot foods, potato salads and the like. Lots of fresh produce, a seafood/​meats area, bakery section, dairy items, and your aisles of everything else. Their natural foods section is awesome! I don’t know how the price compares to other stores, but the fact that they carry those items is cool.
The middle part of their store was recently moved around, so forgive me if I’m getting some things mixed up. The section next to the food/​groceries has toiletry items, greeting cards, make-​up, hair products, pain meds, baby items, books and magazines. In the back is the shoe section, and continues into the clothes section. As other Unilocalers have said, the clothes at most Fred Meyer locations are the same quality as KMart, Target, etc.
Lastly, the northern part of the store has all sorts of stuff. Mostly things for your home: towels, bed sheets, lamps, kitchen appliances, rugs, chairs, notebooks, pens, picture frames, vacuums, and much more. Next to the pharmacy is the electronics section, and I’d have to say it isn’t the place to pick up a CD. They don’t have a very big selection, and it’s pretty small compared to the Fred Meyer in Lynnwood. Have a shelf of iPod speakers/​accessories, and a fair selection of TV’s, video games, DVD’s, and cameras.
There’s also a toy, garden, paint and sports/​auto section, but as another Unilocaler said, it’s creepily dead there. Even the employees are scarce in those parts. I rarely go back there, but when I do, I kinda get freaked out by how quiet and strangely alone you feel back there.
All in all, I like this Fred Meyer. Good place to stop by if you need some groceries, or anything on their list. Their slogan «You’ll find it at Fred Meyer» is pretty true!

Fred Meyer has quickly become my regular grocery store after my god-​awful visits to the Safeway on 236^th. This Fred Meyer is great!
Prices are a lot cheaper than other nearby stores, they have a pretty good selection, and items are well-​stocked. They have a large produce section and I do quite like the natural foods section as well.
Employees are super friendly and nice. On my last visit, I realized that my gallon of milk was leaking after it had already been rung up. The cashier called to a guy on the floor and had him bring me a new gallon quick as can be. Woohoo!
One downside is that the checkout lines are always LOOONG and there aren’t even that many open half of the time. I have no clue why…

I’ve found prices are cheaper here than QFC and Safeway. And while they don’t have as extensive a deli counter as Central, that works to my advantage so I won’t drop more money than necessary on fancy meats + cheeses. On occasion, I’ll find Sage Derby or a lovely English Stilton with Cranberries! Their prices on items like that are also usually cheaper than Central.
Produce is always well stocked. The guys that work in that department have also been friendly and helpful. Their natural/​organic section is pretty decent for a mainstream store. They don’t just sell groceries though, they also sell housewares, electronics, clothing, jewelry… name it and they probably sell it. I can’t vouch for the quality of their clothes. A perfunctory glance tells me that the quality would be comparable to K-​Mart or cheaper items found at Target.
Checkstands can be busy. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever gone when they weren’t. They have the self-​service stands that move pretty quickly provided you don’t get stuck behind the one person who’s exceeded the suggested limit AND who can’t figure out how to ring up produce. It’s all photos and touch screens… seriously, not that damned hard.
