Harvey’s Auto Service

I just wrote a glowing review of Harvey’s before I signed in, and now it’s gone (remember to copy if you forget to sign in beforehand, people). Anyway, here’s a shortened version:
Kevin: owner, honest and has sold me three cars, two of which are running nicely and one which I totaled
Chris: stellar and nice manager of this location (there’s another larger one in Redmond), and a swell mechanic
This place is always hopping, because of the good work and reasonable prices. And their oil changes are a bargain.

Pros: Brought me the broken pieces of most of my repairs to show me they were in fact broken. Didn’t seem to talk down to me just for being a woman.
Cons: Took it in for five issues on two visits, and they only looked at one issue both times. Even that one wasn’t fixed after the first try, and I had to take it back, but it still wasn’t fixed after the second visit. Used the wrong size part for my car, and had to have it replaced three weeks later when I took it to the dealership for a second opinion. That’s when I discovered that one of my problems was a super simple fix that could have been done during the second repair, and one of my problems was a major break that should have been discovered doing the first repair. But mostly: When I bring it in for a noise, and it still has that noise when I pick it up, don’t you think I’m gonna be ticked off? Even if the repair you actually did was necessary, you didn’t actually fix the problem I came in for.

Went the first time today for an oil change and found everyone to be very helpful and nice. Very honest as well! Will be back.

I was very happy with the service I got. I walked in in the morning was able to have my car looked at the same day. Chris was very nice and explained what was wrong with my car. He didn’t try to oversell, he just fixed what was wrong. I will go back.

I live in the neighborhood and started bringing my cars here because I can walk to and from to pick up and drop off.
However, I keep coming back because Chris, the lead mechanic, is the most honest mechanic I’ve ever taken my car to, and I’ve owned over 30 cars in the ~ 20 years I’ve been driving… If there’s nothing wrong with your car, he’ll say so. If it’s something simple, you will be charged a very reasonable fee for the work actually done.
He works fast, and he’ll charge you what the estimate says. If he finds anything else while he’s working, he’ll call you and talk it over before doing any work.
Can’t say the same about Earl’s next door, who will charge you for walking in the front door. So, make sure you go to Harvey’s on the corner, not Earl’s next door.
