I have been going to Des, Hoag Dotsch for about ten years. I had a childhood incident that left me fearful of the dentist. I have overcome my fear and actually have fallen asleep during dental work. The staff at the office is very friendly and you can tell that they ‘like’ each other. I have and would recommend others.

I left Dr. Hoag and this practice for better care. I perceived I was a guinea pig while Dr. Hoag went through training to practice treatment for TMJ. I spent a considerable amount of money out of my pocket for care that I did not receive, in addition, the cost was not explained to me clearly otherwise I would not have gone through the teeth impressions/casting(so messy!) and exams. My intention was to leave before I completed the TMJ work-up due to the billing errors, but Dr. Hoag wanted to complete the work to my disappointment in the end. I had to inquire about the results of all that work after months of no follow-up from him, and all I got was a vague tiny paragraph that did not help me with my jaw issues. High staff turnover during the time I was there and inconsistent communication of payment plans and charges were too much. The staff leaving was the second to last straw, the billing practices were the last straw in my decision to seek another dental provider. Glad to have found the dental provider I have now. I had to have one of the composites done by Dr. Hoag redone as it chipped. To clarify, the surface the composite was placed was inbetween two teeth, not on a chewing or exposed surface. I’m not saying 100% that the work originally done was sub par, but I was told by Dr. Hoad my composite should last for 10 years. It didn’t. High staff turnover is not a good sign, in my opinion. One pro is that Dr. Hoag respected that I was a fan of cleanliness and was sure not to cross-contaminate.(Pay attention to what your dentist, dental hygenist, and dental assistant do with gloved hands — especially when documenting.) Note: I wish I was more aware of this venue to provide a review sooner. This happened over 18 months ago — sorry time is escaping me right now, could have been 24 months ago — and I had to follow up after my last appt to get a copy of my file which didn’t go as smooth as it could’ve gone. Please have them clarify how much they are charging you and how much will be out of pocket. Get it in writing as clear as possible.

This practice really is a family oriented practice as well as a cosmetic practice. I know they do some beautiful cosmetic work through invisable braces and veneers etc but the office has a very inviting energy to it. The reception area is warm and friendly and really any age patient would feel comfortable here. Monthly payments are an option as well as a very thorough health assessment. No one needs to be afraid to go to the dentist anymore with this type of care.
