Try the pollos a la brasa with their homemade sauces! It’s an easy place to miss, but the food was outstanding.

Truly excellent roast chicken here. Well roasted with lots of flavor from the marinade and charcoal fire. Yucca was perfectly fried and all the sauces were delicious. We’ll definitely be back to this unassuming gem.

Was driving past and noticed a new sign that said Peruvian Food in the North End, getting my hopes up for some mouth watering bbq rotisserie chicken and plantains. So the following Friday we stopped in to see if some South American food had moved into the north end… and to our great pleasure, ITHAS! The restaurant is relatively new(3months) but the food is wonderful! We intended to go for the rotisserie chicken not having had any in over a year but they were nearly out that night(we got there at 8pm) but that was to our advantage, as we got to try things we otherwise might not have. We had the anticuchos(very tender, great with the different hot sauces they provided); Seco de Res, a very tender beef stew served with fabulous beans and rice, and Arroz con Mariscos which had lots more than shrimp in it… imagine a Peruvian cross between seafood paella and fried rice! Plantains weren’t on the menu, but the owner said anything we wanted could be made if they had the ingredients(and with the market behind the wall, it was a good likelihood!). He later came back and asked(in spanish) whether we wanted the young or ripe plantains, so this was totally a customized and authentic experience! And the plantains were wonderful! We are certainly going back if for no other reason to get more of that bbq, but expect we will be working our way through the entire menu!

Los Pollos Hermanos consists of both a restaurant and a grocery store, so I’ll split my review into 2 parts. I visited with my boyfriend, who’s Peruvian and therefore my trusted source on authenticity and taste here. RESTAURANT — 3.5÷5 Anticuchos: Boyfriend says they were a bit too well done for his preference. This was my second time eating antichuchos and I preferred these because they tasted less like heart and more like beef, which might defeat the purpose of antichuchos in the first place. The side of lightly fried potatoes were really good. Lomo saltado: I loved the juiciness of the generous, thick beef pieces. The sauce tasted somewhat different than other lomo sauces I’ve had in the past, but in a good way. The onions were still crunchy, which I don’t usually prefer but were fine here. Pollo a la brasa: Not bad, but we’ve had better(although only in Houston). Generous serving of fluffy, crispy fries. Maracuya and chicha: Pretty good — tasted like they were made from scratch. Sauces: Boyfriend loves that we got giant ketchup-size bottles of sauce instead of the little sauce dippers you usually get. Overall, a decent choice for satisfying Peruvian food cravings. GROCERY — 5⁄5 The owner, who’s also a waiter on the restaurant side, was super friendly and even let us request a product we couldn’t find. So here’s a little backstory on a Peruvian chocolate called Sublime — I found it once at the Hispanic grocery in Pike Place last year, and ever since then, I’ve never seen it again. At Los Pollos Hermanos, I finally set eyes on Sublime for the second time ever in Seattle. We of course picked some up alongside 5 other packs of Peruvian snacks. They carry a pretty good selection of other Peruvian grocery needs too, but those weren’t the focus of today’s visit. We’ll be back for those Morochas. And more Sublime. And other dishes off the menu.

This place way exceeded my expectations. I went because of the name(any Breaking Bad fans out there? =P) and when I saw how tiny it was, I wasn’t expecting much. Boy was I wrong. The food was absolutely amazing. Really great, complex dishes full of flavor and fresh ingredients. Truly an authentic Peruvian experience. Definitely will be back!

This is a great little Latin market! They have an amazing selection of herbs and spices, great breads and just about any canned or bottled thing you’d ever want. They also make their own tamales! In October they have pan de muerto for your Day of the Dead. Nice selection of baked goods too. The people are always so nice and helpful, you’ll be glad you stopped in.
