Paul and the staff at Underwater Adventures are wonderful. Scuba diving, while fun and exciting, can be scary and intimidating. The instructors here are patient, enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful. They ensure that every new diver feels comfortable and has a great experience. I would absolutely recommend Underwater Adventures to any scuba diver, new and old for all of their scuba needs.

I couldn’t possibly say anything negative about Underwater Adventures. I walked in the shop for the first time a few months ago, and I did not have quarters for the parking meters out front. The owner, Paul, reached into his pocket and handed me two quarters to feed the meter. After this, Paul took the time to listen to my concerns, and helped me pick out my personal gear, explaining differences between models. I took my Open Water Certification course with UADC over a weekend. Friday night was spent reviewing pre-work on the learning area of the shop. With a few couches and a coffee table, the members of the class discussed the pre-work and explained things in farther detail. Saturday morning was in the shop as well before moving to the pool. Our instructor, Ken, was extremely personable, got to know each of us individually and was extremely patient working with some students that weren’t as comfortable in the water. If we didn’t get something right, he would spend the time with us until we could perform the tasks comfortably. Sunday morning was back in the shop before moving to the pool for the last time. When I started inquiring about some of the gear, Ken was happy to show me his personal gear and let me try some out. Ramas, the other instructor, was extremely personable and was great to work with as well. The second half of the Open Water Certification is held at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem, PA. This time, Paul and another instructor, Chris taught the course that weekend. While arranging the gear I would need for the weekend, I explained to Paul some of my likes and dislikes, future goals with diving, and he made gear recommendations to suit my future plans. I dove with the gear he recommended, and once again, Paul was extremely patient working with the students, helping each one become comfortable in the water. After two days at Dutch, the class had become open water certified, and some other instructors from the shop cooked lunch as we debriefed and completed our paperwork. The Open Water Certification went so smoothly, I decided that I wanted to pursue farther education through Underwater Adventures. I began prioritizing my gear purchases and purchased a computer and Enriched Air Diver certification course. Paul and I began to discuss my gear needs, and I opted to purchase my BCD and my regulators, based on the gear Paul had recommended me use for my open water certification. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered a BCD and set of regulators from Paul, who once again took the time to explain the features of and differences between different models. I took my Enriched Air Certification course with Gerry. The course took the period of an evening in the shop, reviewing pre-work, practicing calculations and analyzing oxygent content of several tanks. We planned several dives, and discussed advantages and disadvantages. Gerry took the time to go above and beyond the requirements of the course to explain the benefits in detail. And most recently, I took my Advanced Open Water course this past weekend. Ken took the time out of his busy schedule to instruct myself and my dive buddy. The three of us briefed the required dives, planned them, and dove them, debriefing each time. That night, the three of us opted to camp out at Dutch Springs and really got to know each other as individuals. We completed our required dives Sunday morning and said our goodbyes to our new friends. In conclusion, Underwater Adventures Dive Center is a one-stop shop for all of your scuba diving needs. The staff takes the time to understand the needs of each individual customer, explains products in detail and will help you determine what you need to achieve your goals without upselling you or directing you towards gear you don’t need and won’t use. The staff has been excellent to work with and I can’t say anything negative about the shop. The prices are reasonable, the staff is knowledgeable, and the instructors are top notch. Starting to dive at Underwater Adventures has been a treat. I have learned many new skills and gained many new friends, as UADC is not only a shop, but a school and a culture as well. Many customers come by the shop to chat, and I couldn’t be any happier with my experiences with Underwater Adventures Dive Center.
