We stayed at the Sleep Inn during a spring break trip with our 3 kids(9, 7, 4). One reason we picked it was b/c they would let us have 5 people in a room — they added a cot for an extra $ 10 fee. Free breakfast and free wi-fi were an added bonus. The hotel looked new and was what I would expect from a Sleep Inn — basic room, basic carb-heavy breakfast, not too much action on a Sunday night. I saw a small case with free fresh-baked cookies on the way in, which was a nice touch. The staff was pleasant and helpful when I needed to borrow some scissors. The AMAZINGLYGREAT thing about the hotel, though, was the indoor pool. I wasn’t expecting much at a Sleep Inn, and indeed it’s not a fancy pool — a room with concrete floors, a decent sized hotel pool, whirlpool and a single table with chairs — but it was WARM! Even though the temp outside was in the 40’s, the pool was warm enough to walk right in without getting used to the water. I’ve been in many a freezing hotel pool, so I appreciate that they spend the money to heat it to a comfortable temp. The whirlpool didn’t have any restrictions for the kids, so we all climbed in after our swim and enjoyed the super-hot water. No one else was in the pool, so we had the place to ourselves for the hour we were there. With our AAA discount, we got a room with 2 queen beds for $ 81, plus an extra $ 10 for the cot. Not a bad deal, plus there aren’t so many options in the middle-of-nowhere. The room also came with a fridge and microwave, although we didn’t use them.

Looking for a cheap but clean place to rest your weary body after a long day of skiing at Sunrise? Sleep Inn to the rescue! It’s not extremely close to Sunrise, but then again 35 miles in the middle of Nowhere, AZ doesn’t seem too be too far to drive. The room, beds and bathroom are very clean. The heating works. The carpet and blankets don’t smell like mildew. Score! And on top of that the desk staff are very nice. My only complaint is that the complimentary breakfast was completely gone at 8:00 am(and it’s supposed to run from 7 – 10). They either grossly underestimated how many people would be there over a busy holiday weekend or are saving money by skimping on breakfast. Anyway, breakfast was an extra I didn’t expect anyway when I booked the hotel, so I’m not taking points off for it.
