Nice spot, in the short time it’s been around, there’s been growth. Great imaginative menu, friendly staff, Highland to it’s core.

I walked into this place on a Sunday afternoon rooting for it to be good. It’s so well appointed. Every single furnishing was obviously picked with great care. The bathroom is adorable and immaculately clean. The eclectic music was not unpleasant, but could have been a little less obtrusive. The menus are photocopies bound in clipboards. Very hipster. My sister says the converted house reminds her of Austin, TX. But sadly the food was mediocre. My pork chop stuffed with boudin was flavorful, but dry. My mother’s stroganoff was bland, though she liked the grilled shrimp. My sister’s French onion soup was served tepid. In short: great environment, but not great food.

I was on the fence on the rating. Great food and atmosphere, but when the service is this bad it ruins your dining experience. When your waiter can’t describe anything on the menu and they only had 2 beers which is fine but couldn’t tell me whether they were light, dark, ale, IPA whatever. Nobody sat us had to just find our own table. Were not given menus. After 30 minutes server finally decided to grace us with her presence. But her presence was just a nuisance with her disregard of anything on the menu. Our food when it arrived was cold due to waiter not bringing it out. She even brought the check with no pen for me to sign which sealed her tip. If the food had been warm it was well done. She did say they were short a waiter but not even half of the tables were full. If she had any experience and training of being a waitress as well as about the menu. She would have had no problem serving the 6 tables.

My go-to place for lunch on Wednesdays; and brunch on Sunday’s, when I can! They also serve dinner, but I have not had the pleasure of trying those menus items, yet. I’ve tried almost every item on the menu, and my favorite is their unique take on Shrimp and Grits… creamy and cheesy grit cakes topped with spicy grilled shrimp, on a bed of gently sautéed spinach, onions, and red peppers. I suggest getting a side of the homemade remoulade for an extra«kick». Other favorite menu items include the Potato Pies, Catfish Cakes, the veggie board with homemade hummus, and the Huevos Rancheros(Sunday brunch). The restaurant itself has a great«neighborhood» vibe. I love eating at locally owned places, when I can. I definitely suggest giving it a try!

It is with a heavy heart I have to leave a one star review for this place. Due to negligence on the kitchens part. This otherwise awesome freaking restaurant with cool people and tasty drinks and food has to suffer a very bitter review. Oh Highland table. How we really enjoyed thee. Got here yesterday evening during the Highland wine fest?(9/19 around 5 or so) and it wasn’t packed in the dining area at all. We scored seats and was greeted by our waiter Lindsey… Immediately I took a liking to this ecclectic Hippy style restaurant; I would describe it as Little Five Points in Atlanta or Ann Arbor in Michigan. The menu being held together by a clip board amd water glasses with faux bubbles giving a Perrier illusion made me giggle. (see pics) we sampled their catfish cakes which were absolutely to die for. LOVEDTHEM. The Remoulade was perfect and I contemplated ordering another they were that good! We each had two drinks. Him the orange crush Spirit and me the Sangria made with red wine… The hubs settled for the meatloaf wrapped in bacon which was perfectly cooked medium well with perfectly sauteed green beans and the Hassleback potato. I had the black bean burger. No buns. With sauteed broccoli. We were so impressed with the atmosphere and food that we asked if we could meet the owner. Our waiter obliged and Lori? The owner greeted us warmly. We had such a great experience why the 1 star? Well…11pm last night I puked my *bleeping* brains out… Hadn’t had anything else to eat or drink since coming home from our DATENIGHT at the HIGHLAND. There must have been some cross contamination with my black bean burger and something not so kosher. Dah well. That has turned me off and I’ll never return. Which is a bummer because it was the best experience, and I thought food, since being in the Port… My quest continues. A girl from the big city.

Found this place while searching for good quality restaurants in the area. This seemed to be the only thing I found that was causal. I ordered the portobello stroganoff and added chicken. It was pretty good. A little heavy, but that’s to be expected with stroganoff. My sister ordered the black bean burger. She said it was better than she expected it to be. For the healthy folks, there are quite a few things on the menu that looked good, which is why I originally picked this place. And for the animal lovers, there is a cute little orange cat that hangs out on the patio so say hello. He won’t bother you. He just sleeps under the tables.

Have been here twice and think it is going to a great neighborhood place. The Sunday brunch was wonderful with a range of choices. The food presentation shows creativity, and the service is friendly.

Finally a winner on creswell & kings hwy! We have eaten here twice now and the food is delicious, ambiance is good and the service is very good! So exciting to have a restaurant committed to ‘whole’foods with minimal processing. You can taste the difference!

Went to lunch! It GREAT! The service is excellent everyone is so nice. The food was a little something different — EXCELLENT! We tried a few things from appetizers(butter samples and bread– yum) to dessert(chocolate brownie cake with ice cream) and it was SOOO good. I had potato pie(twice baked potatoes with fillings — I has roast beef but tried the taco. Both were very very good and it comes with a nice salad! One friend had the tuna salad. I thought«boring» but it was NOT. GIVETHEM A TRY! They are closed Monday and Tuesday!
