Absolutely love their pies! My husband and I usually buy a whole box of their pies(most of the time we go for the strawberry one) and eat it over the following few days. My favorite is the strawberry but chocolate pie is also awesome. Whenever we have guests coming from out of town we make sure they get to try strawn’s pies!

Crowded, fun atmosphere. Typical diner food. There were 5 of us for lunch. Everyone agreed it was an interesting experience but no one mentioned the food which was just OK. They Re famous for their pies. I had the fresh peach pie which was excellent. I see why this is a famous Shreveport place. Next time I will just go for the pie Service was GREATBTW

I LOVEPIE! The strawberry is my favorite. The chocolate next. Then peach when in season. The daily specials are a great deal and the perfect in home cooking comfort food. All that said, it is a greasy spoon and ideal for breakfast. Great staff.

Great breakfast spot!!! The term greasy spoon sounds negative but I mean it in the BEST way possible. Looks small from the outside but is actually a good sized location. Diner seating for 10, plus tables and booths. It’s very casual, sit yourself, menus on the table. Portions are incredibly generous. I got the Hungry Man Meal(2 eggs, choice of ham/sausage/bacon, choice of grits or hash browns, choice of toast or biscuit) and couldn’t finish see pictures). Servers are sweet and definitely give the southern hospitality feel. 5 stars and 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!

The pancakes along with the biscuits and gravy were delicious! It smells just like a home cooked breakfast in here. I highly recommend going!

Strawn has the best pie I have ever had. The meals are home cooked and the wait staff is friendly as can be. It is loud and homey.

Food made fast service on top of the order and beyond kind, best place for family dining. Also parking in the back when front gets full.

Went in over the weekend after reading some reviews, ended up just getting pie to go. They weren’t busy at all– the staff was all standing around talking. A massive pile of fried potatoes were piled on the grill in a corner– all I could smell was potatoes and onions. It’s a little too grubby looking, closed in for me. I felt I would have smelled like whatever I ordered. Strawberry Pie to go– which was outstanding!!!

I was doing a job in Shreveport Louisiana and had breakfast here almost every day. They do a pretty good breakfast but it’s basic. The one thing that really blew me away was their biscuits with sausage gravy. It had to be the best that I’ve ever had. It was so good that I had it three days in a row. I was very disappointed with their hashbrown potatoes because they were not browned at all. They keep a big pile of potatoes going on the griddle and it looks like if you get there at the right time they’ll be done but in our case they just pulled them off the griddle even though they weren’t finished cooking. The next day that I had them I asked them if they could get me hashbrowns that were well done. So what they did is take the ones off the griddle and put them in the deep fryer. I figured with all the hype and how good their biscuits and gravy were that maybe their lunch was what is so spectacular about this place. So today I passed up on the craving to get a good shrimp Po boy you Strawns a chance on lunch. I tried to get the waitress to recommend something but she was no help. So I chose one of their Sunday special plate lunches with chicken fried steak. Basically it reminded me of what food tasted like in the old high school cafeteria. The chicken fried steak was about the size of a McDonald’s cheeseburger patty and tasted like it was made from ground beef. It was served with your choice of brown or white gravy and a side of mashed potatoes, field peas, and some shredded lettuce that they called a salad. Everything was completely bland and boring. If you’re just looking for a cheap lunch that will fill you up, then this place will do. I also had a slice of their famous strawberry pie. It was OK, nothing wrong with it, just not something I would say they’re famous for.

I just like be there hungry man combo. The pancakes can be spotty but overall good! Servers load butter on top which can be really good. My wife really likes the double meat burger with bacon and jalapeños. Always get a side of the mayo they make for her fries. Over all great service and servers are awesome!

The pie was great! My wife’s omelet was ok, the chicken fried steak, and hamburger tasted like they were previously frozen from a bag. The wait staff seems far more interested in texting and checking Facebook than working. Basically, get a slice of pie at the bar or to go and call it a day.

Cutest diner I’ve ever been to. Came here years before with my daughter and made a point to stop by with my husband on our way through. Home cooking with fantastic service. Husband got the one egg breakfast with ham. And I ordered the make-your-own omelet. The food was so-so but the service and atmosphere were worth the visit.

Found this awesome local diner here on Unilocal and it am I glad I did! Hubsters and I are on a little getaway, and wanted something besides casino fare. We enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak lunch special, and I could not resist the hand made Strawberry pie, while hubby dug into his delicious chocolate cream pie. This place will be a go to destination every time we are in Shreveport LA.

Don’t skimp. Get the double patty cheeseburger. Of course you need to sit at the bar and watch the magic happen.

What an awesome diner with great character. Upon arrival, parking can be a little intimidating, but there is actually a great parking lot BEHIND the restaurant. I came with the intention of trying out the pancakes, but it made much more sense economically to get the«hungry mans breakfast». For $ 9.50 you get pancakes, biscuits or toast, two eggs, bacon, ham or sausage, grits or hash browns. It is definitely shareable! What a fantastic breakfast; best I have had in a long time. Biscuits are outstanding. Pancakes are perfect and huge. Bacon was a little salty, but perfectly crispy. Sweet tea is sweetened exactly how I like it. Service was very fast and friendly. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I will definitely return. And there is Unilocal coupon for a free slice of pie — how great is that?

JG score of 7⁄10(+3 for pie, +2 for atmosphere, 0 for price, 0 for no Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +2 for we would look forward to returning) Pies are what this place is known for. They are very good. Coconut cream is probably the best we have ever tried. Chocolate and strawberry are excellent too. The meals with chicken or chicken fried steak with the gravy and vegetables and cornbread are tasty diner/home cooking type meals. The atmosphere is neat with various seating options and painted walls with scenes. This place is older with history and just a great place to visit. At times, it can be crowded and noisy. The price can reach 15 $ with a lunch and drink and dessert. No Diet Dr Pepper, only Diet Coke. Service is friendly and typical and usually busy. We would not hesitate to go here again quickly.

Cute little southern café in Shreveport. Food was OK, but the icebox pie was amazing –pumpkin pie flavor(seasonal). The strawberry also looks amazing! Retro vibe & great atmosphere, I would come back again when visiting the area.

Such a cute place with amazing servers that make you feel welcome. We came here for breakfast and the food is decent. I had the ham steak breakfast, the ham is perfectly grilled, brown and a very generous portion, it’s way too salty for my taste. Eggs are good but too oily on top of my over medium eggs. Biscuits are amazing though … Do love that for sure. Flaky, perfect texture and not fall apart easily like some of the biscuits are made with too much baker soda. The pie… ok I know most ppl are in love with their strawberry pie. We had to try it. Although it tastes good, it’s way too sweet for my taste. It seems like they’re soaked and coated in powder sugar before the pile of whipped cream got on top. I ending up eating the whipped cream more because it’s the least sweet item in the whole pie. The crust was thin it’s almost none existent. The strawberries were just too sugary for us. But I get it how lots of ppl love it. I just can’t take it. Friendly diner has lots of choices and lunch n dinner specials. And have a piece of pie if you love sugar and overly sweet stuff.

We’ve been going here for years. Good home-style food and friendly service. We especially love the chocolate and strawberry icebox pies. The mustard greens are also phenomenal. Even if you don’t care for greens, give them a try. They are flavored perfectly. This location is better than the Strawn’s Eat Shop Too on E 70th St both in food and service.
