Meh, I’ve experienced better. This isn’t Las Vegas but I expected at least a pretty decent spread. Food was old and the quality was poor. Service was non-existent. Not many people were there. They must know better.

I’ve been to this buffet quite a few times & there have been good & bad ones. It use to be the place to eat but not so much now. I still think it’s better than the rest casinos buffets.

As my wife and I were driving around Shreveport we saw a sign in front of Sam’s Casino. I read Seniors 50% off the buffet, everyday. We parked and found our way inside to the buffet which was conveniently located at the bottom of the escalator from the parking garage. We gave our drink order, diet Pepsi and a glass of wine. The cashier asked if $ 6 for the wine was OK and we agreed. The bill was over $ 50 for our party of two. I explained we were seniors and they asked for our casino loyalty card card. They said we could get one at the customer service area. So, we went to get cards. They were friendly as they explained the cards must have 50 points on each before the buffet would be discounted. «How do we get points?» Spend money in the casino, gambling. Apparently loyalty points are awarded each time a customer wagers $ 0.40 — Hummmm. Pass. As we were leaving we agreed to take a look at the buffet. We decided to give it a try, it had just opened at 4:30 for dinner service. We figured the food would be fresh. The price on the sign in front was $ 6 less than the price we were charged. I disagreed and the people behind us in line overheard the conversation and chimed in to say they also wanted the posted price. After a management pow-wow it was agreed to charge all four of us the posted price. I gave them my card again for a credit, I was presented with a receipt to sign for the correct price and we went inside. How can the first food of the day be cold? The fried shrimp was dry, tough and tasteless. Unidentifiable except for the tail. Sausage gumbo, room temperature and tasted like gravy with too much flour. The soft Chinese noodle dish had been sitting there long enough to dry hard and brittle. The brisket was laid out like bacon, dry and tasteless. Stale carrot cake, no butter in sight for the bread and corn bread. Baked potatoes without any butter or sour cream in the area. Horseradish and ??? waiting for the Prime Rib that was supposed to be coming but never arrived. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Water and soda refills were plentiful. Dish busing was immediate. I guess times are tough for casinos in this area. I always believed the buffets, restaurants and entertainment was designed to bring potential gamblers into the casino. Instead, this one seems backwards, it’s trying to operate as a profit-center. The buffet is bad. It’s worse than the $ 6.99 all-you-can-eat roadside cafes scattered thru-out this part of the country. I should have read Unilocal before we went in. Also, I should have checked my bill on my iPhone before we left. Back at the hotel I discovered my credit card had been charged twice. It’s being disputed at this moments.

The most depressing buffet Ive ever encountered. Maybe Im a buffet snob but there should be a law against stale corn bread, dry ham and flavorless fried chicken. The sad sad excuse for the red velvet cake(my favorite, god dammit) I tasted would be enough to make a grown man cry. Why are they serving this?!

I am a big fan of the buffet at the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas so I was excited to see a similar set up at Sam’s Town. The buffet was clean, the wait staff was on top of everything. The buffet is laid out by category. They have Mexican, Asian, Italian, BBQ, Cajun, Seafood, Salad, etc sections. The food was hot and fresh. My family and I were there on Wednesday for lunch. They had freshly made hamburgers that the chief was cooking on a grill. You told him how you wanted it cooked and then you put what you want on it after he was done cooking. The wait staff was on top of things. They kept the tables cleared and our drinks full. If you are a fan of the Orleans Buffet in Las Vegas then you will be a fan of this buffet as well.
