The muffuletta’s are terrible. Save your money and buy the pizza instead. Pizza and service is decent.

If you want terrible pizza eat here. Plus the area had a fly infestation. I would never recommend anyone to eat here because of the multiple bad experiences and food quality

I’m a long-standing patron of the Johnny’s pizza houses and have received service and food ranging from excellent to mediocre from most of the store locations. The Gilbert Drive location, however, is the one I frequent since it’s so close to my home. This Johnny’s has typically been mediocre with only a handful of downright customer neglect until recently(March 2013). The location obviously hired a few new people who aren’t jaded yet by typical food jobs. I actually noticed an improvement in their pizzas. New guy, Michael, actually knows how to put the normally scarce pizza sauce on the pizza so that I could actually taste it. As good as things have been going recently, it still has its problems and one of them is the reason I’m even typing this review. I recently ordered a 10 inch sweep with no anchovies or mushrooms. The cashier, Tiffany, took my order and my receipt confirmed that she understood and correctly wrote out my order. However, the one who made my pizza, Jennifer, either through lack of communication or general illiteracy put many mushrooms on my sweep. I normally let these things slide. Normally. Except in this instance, the mushrooms I didn’t order are a substance that I’m allergic to. I made damned well sure the manager knew that. Didn’t stop them from screwing up the replacement pizza with more mushrooms. In the end, I got a 14 inch sweep prepared by the manager personally and under my watch as well as a voucher for a free 10 inch sweep. Honestly I should have asked for my money back, but I was hungry and tired. In the end, this particular location will give you the kind of stony-faced, lackluster service you’ve come to expect from a lot of other food locations in Shreveport.

I am fairly new to the area, and I wanted to try their pizza. Too bad I never will, as I live in a working class/middle class black neighborhood and they will not deliver out here. Really, it’s 2012, people are tired of racism; and I refuse to do business with those who still uphold such views.

A repeat of another review of the Captain Shreve Johnny’s. I only repeat because I find there is good consistency between these stores: Although a well recognized icon in Shreveport, I did not start eating Johnny’s pizza until much later. I think it had something to do with how the square slices turned me off. Now, I rather like that. Seriously though, Johnny’s has a tasty crust that is nice and crispy. The key is that you need to order and pick up or eat on location. Delivery and buffet somehow are not the same. Somehow the buffet pizza seems different. As for delivery, the pizza just doesn’t retain the crispness by the time it arrives your door. So stick with the rule: eat in or pick it up yourself. A real winner is the sweep the floor pizza. I know, it might not sound appetizing but it is good. The reason why this place doesn’t get a 5 is cleanliness. I’m not expecting much out of a pizza joint, but still, the upkeep makes me want to carry-out rather than eat in any day. Summary, thumbs up and follow the rules for a good pizza. Oh, and don’t fear the square cuts.
