I have lived in the Shreveport/bossier area for about 2 years now. This place is amazing. The food is full of flavor and leaves you wanting for more.

I’m really happy I found this place. It’s my first time to Louisiana. This place, with my little bit of knowledge, seems quintessential Louisiana. I had a small gumbo and the Commotions Pale Ale by Great Raft. I personally loved the atmosphere. It’s a converted gas station/garage. Besides great food, they also have a great, little bar set up. You order at the counter and they call your name when it’s ready. Truly café style. Gumbo was ready in less than a minute. The service was spectacular. The guy that took my order was extremely nice. He was wearing a very loud shirt that some how added to the ambience of the place. At the bar, before selecting my beer, the server explained the draught beer in detail. I loved her willingness to be so helpful. This was everything I was hoping for to experience Louisiana or really anywhere for that matter. Tempted to come again tomorrow night.

2 stars for ambiance, service and portion, the 8 inch sandwich was huge. I only tried one thing, so maybe I’ll have to try other items, but I got the vegetarian MK sandwich, and it was terrible. The textures all were mushy — hummus, avocado, eggplant so the sandwich just soft. Additionally the eggplant was bland and seemed to be seasoned with mostly black pepper, and the skin was still tough. There were at least 10 – 12 full cloves of garlic on the sandwich which was over powering. Really wanted to love my sandwich, but it just didn’t deliver — but as I said maybe other items taste better.

Five stars again for ambiance. Two for food. Granted as I told my husband ordering beignets in Northern Louisiana is like ordering them anywhere in America, he insisted. They were not good. Tiny flat hockey puck like and burnt on the edges.

We took the advice of a local and went here to eat. By far, the best eating experience we’ve had eating in Shreveport! The atmosphere, the food, the staff — all superb

This spot came recommended by my hosts at my Airbnb house. I ordered the broiled shrimp Po Boy remoulade 8″, and asked what side they recommended. The cashier recommended the Mac & cheese. First, the Po Boy was gigantic, and billowing over with shrimp(if you like shrimp, this is a great issue to have). Next, the Mac & cheese wasn’t your standard southern variety, but pepper jack Mac & cheese. This was a huge portion as well. I left with a box filled with half my Po Boy, and half the Mac & cheese I later consumed for dinner.

Perfect little hipster find! Great for a nice day because they have a lot of outdoor seating and are dog friendly. Good beers on tap. And the food is second to none. Don’t forget about their Sunday Brunch! I’ve tried most of the brunch menu, and it’s all delicious!

Went back to make sure last night wasn’t a fluke. Still good. I even got some beignets for my family back home.

Ate here while in Shreveport for a business trip after seeing good reviews, and it was AWESOME! Don’t be thrown by the«this used to be a gas station» appearance, the food is awesome! Definitely get the combo so you get to try 2 things, I had the jambalaya and Cochon de lait and they were both incredibly good! The jambalaya is the perfect amount of spicy, and the pork on the Cochon de lait po-boy was delicious. Will definitely come back when in the area!

I have been here a couple times and had two different experiences. The first time the service was not very good. The lady who took our order double charged us and we got up and got our food because they did not call it immediately and we saw it sitting there. The second time was a way better experience. The lady that took our order was extremely friendly and knew how to work the computer system. I got the seafood gumbo the secons time and it was good! I am not sure what I got the first time. I think we have a combination of etoufee and jumbalaya and it wasnt extremely memorable. However, I would go back for the gumbo. I am a big gumbo fan and love it mainly for the broth. The broth was tasty and it was packed with meats. Definitely one of my favorite gumbo places.

Our first time driving into Louisiana and wanted to try local food. On a suggestion from a friend, we tried Marilynn’s Place. We loved it. Fried Catfish, Boudin Balls, the Hurricane Katrina, NOLA Roast Beef Po Boy and Beignets. The portions are huge and the flavor was great! We were skeptical about it being an old garage converted into a restaurant but don’t let the appearance throw you off. Great food and the service was good as well.

A longtime friend took me here as soon as I got to Shreveport. One word: TREMENDOUS. I had the lightly fried shrimp remoulade on a flaky Gambino roll with potato fries and rounded it off with a side of unsweet tea and their famous Beignets. The shrimp remoulade was fresh, light and crispy with a memorable remoulade. The roll was very substantial and really tied the whole meal together. The Beignets are crispy, sweet and just right with tons of powdered sugar. These things are DANGEROUSLY addicting. If you are in Shreveport for any reason, it’s a great excuse to head to Marilynn’s Place for some superb Louisiana food. When you pull up to the historic auto garage, you’ll think you are about to have an oil change, when you leave you’ll feel like you’ve had the best meal in Shreveport.

This is, hands down, our favorite place in Shreveport. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is fast and the employees are very friendly, especially the owner, Bozz, who comes by and greets us every time we eat there. I definitely recommend their Sunday brunch menu. The beignets(with strawberry preserves), shrimp and grits, and biscuits and gravy(with andouille sausage in it) are spectacular! Not to mention, you can get bottomless mimosas and bloody marys for $ 6. Wednesday nights are $ 2 Louisiana craft beer nights and there is always live music there as well. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed and wonderful. Marilynn’s Place is a gem.

This restaurant is the best kept secret in Shreveport, LA. If you leave here or come to visit or to gamble dont leave town without eating here. The food is cooked when it is ordered. The french fries are seasoned just right. The hushpuppy taste really good. The catfish was fried just hard enough and really favorful. The coating was more of the meal like coating which works for me. The shrimp were lightly fried and delicious. i dont like my shrimp over fried. The crawfish tails were so good. Our meal was topped off with beignets. Oh my gosh. They are puffy flaky hot fried to perfection. Each trip to Shreveport I will be eating at Marilynn’s Place. The restaurant is in a timing lube oil change type building. So dont be alarmed by the look. The food is excellent. Excellent.

hipsters unite! If you are looking for a yummy breakfast you won’t be disappointed with this very Louisiana café. Good for brunch– they have a Bloody Mary bar which I was sorely disappointed that I was unable to partake in but it’s super cheap. And they have a live band play for entertainment. Their andouille gravy is sooo good. The big negative(which is in other reviews) is it was luke warm. Really!!! Beautiful, wonderful, gravy and it was cold! I wouldn’t serve cold food at home, don’t serve cold gravy at your restaurant! Beignets were perfect. Locals love it, if your passing through go. Three stars for food but only because of cold gravy.

We had a terrible experience at Marilyn’s. Terrible and awful — in fact, I would give it one star except I know that it’s possible we were simply unlucky given the other positive reviews. 1 — Sunday is apparently brunch only and that is a separate preset menu. That would have been nice to know. All of the Unilocal-raved menu items are not available on Sunday. Sadness, particularly when you’ve made an hour drive for what you thought you would be able to order. 2 — Beware of sitting in the covered patio. The speaker system doesn’t work so you can’t hear your name called. 3 — Although we only waited 15 min from order to order pickup, and it’s possible that our order sat 5 – 10 min, I am astounded that my biscuits and gravy with sausage was stone cold. Stone.Cold. 4 — Speaking of the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were burned. 5 — The grits my husband ordered had the texture of quinoa. We like quinoa, but not when it’s supposed to be grits. The tomatoes in the shrimp-and-grits gravy tasted canned. All in all, a terrible experience and now, even though their regular menu has strong reviews I can’t see us ever going back. Too bad because the venue(a converted gas/service station was very cool).

We were traveling through Shreveport and knew hat we were going to be here just in time for super. I have always lived up north, so I wanted to make sure that I experienced some great Cajun cooking. We ventured off the highway and found Marlynn’s Place. The reviews on the food are all true, it was very good. At the top of the list of the items we ordered were the Boudin Balls. These were a true treat. The flavors were great, the insides we soft and the kick of heat was fantastic. Our next favorite were the beignets, these wonderful little pillows of deep fried doing were delicious. We would definitely order them again. I had the crawfish étouffée and it was different that the étouffée that I have had in the past. I am used to a much richer, fuller bodied étouffée than what I got a Marilynn’s Place. I had to add salt which I hardly ever do to really enjoy it and bring out the flavors. My daughter and wife both had the Jambalaya and both agreed that it was very spicy. The sausage was fantastic, but both of them left a lot on the plate because of the heat. We ordered small portions for each of our entrée and that was definitely the right decision. The portion is generous and filled us up. The sweet potato fries were good, and the large was definitely a big plate of fries. The final comment that I would share that lowered our rating was the cleanliness of the place. It looked like they were running a restaurant out of a garage. Seriously, I have see garages cleaner than the restaurant, and that was disheartening. There is no excuse for trash on the floor, tables that have not been wiped down and layers of dust on compressor vents. This is nothing that a good cleaning would not fix.
