I once brought my boyfriend, Lesbian Ray, back to Shrevport with me for Christmas. I couldn’t wait to get some proper BBQ having lived in NY for the past few years. We get to the drive thru and I’m like, «Give me the family pack, please.» Ray said, «I’m a vegetarian. I’m not eating BBQ.» I said, «duh, I meant for me.» They gave me all of my ribs, my beans, Texas toast, and pint of BBQ sauce. I pulled over into the parking lot and started eating. One rib, two ribs, three ribs. Finally, I took the lid off the pint of baked beans and began to guzzle them down like a soda. Then I chased those down by drinking the BBQ sauce straight out of the container. Lesbian Ray looked at me with a scowl and said, «Ugh, you are SO black right now.» Yes, I am. I go to Podnuh’s to get back to my blackness first chance I get. This is the best BBQ ever!!! You too can be black by eating here. That, and listening to rap music. LOL.

Good BBQ brisket, pulled pork, beans, and slaw. Wasn’t that impressed with the potato salad but they’re known for it so give it a try. A Shreveport institution!

When I lived down here I would go here about once a month. Decent food at a decent price. When my sister got married the rehearsal dinner was there and was quite enjoyable. My husband LOVES their brisket and potato salad. When we go to visit our family we usually make a visit there for lunch. Oh and when my mom comes to visit we ask them to bring up the potato salad. Nothing comes close in New England. Trust me. I have looked.
