Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken

This is what you’d expect from a fast food chicken joint. The shrimp is pretty good, the staff is friendly. It’s not all that clean. Good buttermilk biscuits.

It is rare that I crave traditional bone-​in whole bird type fried chicken. But when I do, look out sister! I walked around with this craving in me for several days, til a Friday evening hit, and I was like, ‘I’m doin’ this!’ And I pulled up to the drive thru window here without any coupons or anything (really, it seems like Popeye’s hardly ever has coupons) and just commenced with ordering (and I was starving!)…I pulled away minutes later with an 11 piece mixed, all spicy (all the time!) and 2 large sides (mashed taters n gravy and red beans n rice) 4 biscuits and a gallon jug of sweet iced tea. Rang up for a smidge over 26 dollars. Yeah, I went a lil crazy. Cravings left long unsoothed for me, can do that. But not all of this food was just for me… I was taking some home for the wife n bebe too! I got home and freebased (freebased!!!) three spicy wings and two drum sticks and a mountain of potatoes and red beans n rice. And the tea went down nicely after every hastily devoured morsel. Good stuff! This Popeye’s is located close to the LSUS campus on Youree Drive.
