Absolutely terrible… The owner(because there is no manager on site) was extremely rude when i talked to him. The sushi chef kept farting while i was sitting at the sushi bar. The fish was warm on my spicy tuna roll. And also my waiter told me that he had just seen one of the grill workers scratch his butt then proceed to touch raw shrimp and put it on the grill. I am absolutely disgusted with this place.

I’m looking for a good sushi place in the area. This is the second place I’ve been to. When we walked in we were treated and seated by Chase. He was our server as well. Drinks were delivered quickly. We ordered grill food as well as sushi. Everything we ordered was wonderful. Edamame, Shreveport roll, California roll, super crunch, and rainbow. We will be back.

Not the best. Sushi rice was small and hard… ingredients were not worth the price. Wait staff was pretty friendly. Dining area was uncomfortably warm. We’re from out of town and used to good/fresh sushi and sorry to say we were disappointed here.

This restaurant has the best Shrimp Fried Rice and Osaka Rolls in Shreveport! The service was very good. I’ve been back four times already. The side salad should give you choices of salad dressing instead of house dressing already on the salad. I didn’t like the soup that much.

Not worth it. Service was friendly, however a bit spotty. I enjoy the touch of white linen tabletops, however when served sushi without an individual small plate to eat over, what you end with is a stained mess. Also, ordered a beef tataki roll, had it repeated to me and still served incorrect roll. Now, the Sushi here is the issue. Not as fresh(tuna was bright pink, similar to that you purchase at Wal-Mart etc) rolls are ridiculously tiny for the price you pay and the flavors did not bode well. Sadly, the largest roll and roll with most value was the Yam Yam roll we ordered, which ironically was the cheapest. My son’s California roll was massive compared to some of the special rolls. We ordered 5 rolls(Yam Yam, Super Volcano, Louisiana, Triple Sexy and Beef Tataki, which ended up being Tuna Tataki), which I fully expected to have leftovers, however upon seeing the roll size, we left full, but not stuffed by any means. Yam Yam — Actually, not bad, good value here Super Volcano — Horrible, sauce was thin, I literally counted 1 scallop between the whole roll, tiny, as if half-sheet of nori was rolled in other direction to make smaller pieces. Louisiana — Fried crawfish had no taste, tempura batter a bit too sweet, overall no flavor Triple Sexy — Bland, fish not fresh, falling apart on top of roll Tuna Tataki — Neon pink tuna and no flavor Maybe it was an off day? However, being as this is the place my family decided to take me for Father’s day it was a huge let down. Meanwhile I stared at all of the accolades on the wall wondering… how? Last I came hear some time ago, it was pretty solid, what happened? Is it horrible? No, far from worst I have ever had, but honestly the small portions, lack of freshness and overall experience left a sour note with me. Unlikely to return.

This is the best sushi in Shreveport I have found. I am a bit of a sushi snob. The fish is the freshest I could find in Shreveport. The service was really friendly and good. Chefs make good rolls and good sushi.

Overall: Great service, reasonable prices, & delicious deserts. — My husband and I went here for lunch on a Sunday. It wasn’t very crowded and the room was quite dim. He ordered Teriyaki steak with fried rice and miso soup and salad on the side while I ordered a Manhattan Salmon roll. Both dishes were just alright. Neither were bad nor surprisingly delicious. They were both just good. For dessert, we ordered coffee and shared deep fried cheesecake and we both agreed that it was the best part of our meals! For just $ 36 plus tip, we both walked out of there satisfied and would consider coming back. I’d love to try the other items on their rolls and sushi menu to find out if others’ positive reviews are indeed correct.

Have fallen out of our sushi kick since moving to Louisiana because we have not been impressed with any of our local sushi restaurants here in Shreveport-Bossier. Heard good things from friends and locals about Sushi Gen but never gave it a try because it is a good driving distance from where we live in Bossier however we decided to try it out tonight. We were very impressed! Our first impression was great– the atmosphere was inviting and the location is very spacious. We sat at a nice booth that gave off a fine dining feel. Our server was energetic and friendly. Most importantly, the food was great and our rolls were very fresh!

I found this hidden gem at the recommendation of a friend who lives here. Since then, this has been my fave sushi spot in the Shreveport area. I have taken my Texas friends here & they enjoyed it! The sushi has consistently been top quality & fresh. You know the sushi is good when each bite tantalizes your taste buds & you have to stop yourself from trying to order the entire menu. My appetizers of choice are the tuna tataki and calamari. You can never go wrong with sashimi & I love love love the overly generous slices of salmon that melts like butter in my mouth :) !!! As for the specialty sushi rolls, they are good as well– I haven’t had any that I don’t like. They can even customize rolls too! On a recent visit, I transformed my caterpillar roll into a crunchy topped one! The restaurant staff has always been helpful & attentive to its patrons(even during peak times). And if you’re overwhelmed by the menu, they can always offer their expertise on their favorites and popular dishes. I would definitely recommend Sushi Gen for a date night, special occasion, and for your out of town visitors.

Pretty impressed with my visit here for lunch. I had two regular rolls — Philly and tuna and the sashimi appetizer. Fish tasted very fresh. Service was good. Would come back and try some specialties rolls if I’m ever in the area again.

I have only eaten here once. It is the quality of Sake Sushi but closer to the prices of the sushi at Cheng’s Garden. I ordered Red River Roll and Unagi(eel). It was very tasty and seemed to be high quality to me. The ambiance was simple but nice. Clean. The waiter I had was a little too casual for this restaurant. «Hey, dude.» «Right on, man.» However, the other staff seemed professional and attentive. The sushi chef also wore gloves while preparing the food. I recommend this place for sure.

In an effort to mix up my weekly visits from Sake Sushi, I decided to try this spot for a change. Right off the bat, I was not a happy camper. Parking is tight in this strip mall and I ended up parking in the back; which is where all the dumpsters are located. On a 90+ day to walk by the dumpsters on the way to dinner is not advised. Walked in and was seated at a table in the middle of the dining room(right of entryway), which was fine until the wall mounted a/c units kicked in and blew air right in my face: I moved. The highly reviewed«brains» app was pretty good. The rolls on the other hand had WAY to much sauce on them, which I often feel is a restaurant’s answer to mask the freshness and taste of the fish. While this may not be accurate, the quality of the fish did not impress. One of the rolls(tempura shrimp and tuna) was glazed with eel sauce. If there is no eel in the roll, don’t put the eel sauce on it. Service was good and the place was relatively busy on a Thu night, but for me, Sake seems like a better option.

I really want to like this place since it’s in my neighborhood. However, what’s a sushi restaurant that doesn’t have UNI??? And the Hamachi sashimi was brown, smelly, too thinly sliced and they told me it should smell fishy! NOT. I tell my new-to-sushi friends that this should taste like butter. The only fresh fish on a Thursday was the salmon. Never again — sorry

Hands down, the best sushi in town! Good service, good food and surprisingly affordable. What else do you need to know? For sushi, this is the only place in Shreveport I go.

Excellent selection of yummy and creative rolls! If you’re looking for something more fun than a California roll, this is the place for you! Wide selection of sushi with pleasant and helpful staff. The rolls are large, so it’s easy to over-order!

Large selection and very creative rolls. Very fresh fish, and this is coming from a west coaster! I gave 4 only because nothing can compare to west coast sushi!

By far THEBESTSUSHIINTOWN!!! We were quite desperate as our first several attempts to find Sushi were less than successful. Hubby almost lost his lunch at one. So as far as The best Sushi I have ever had. no. But if you are going to eat Sushi in Shreveport this is the ONLY, yes THEONLY place I would recommend to anyone. The fish is FRESH and they serve a delicious sweet and spicy salad at the Shushi Bar that isn’t even on the menu. Polite service, beautiful presentation, delicious food and decent price. Eat sushi elsewhere at your own risk, but dont say I didnt warn you.

Visited this place several times now, and have sampled enough of the menu to write a review. Food(7.5÷10) = My score of 7.5 is based on all the sushi I’ve had in my life. As for sushi places in Shreveport, this might be the best you can get. Sushi gen has a great variety of rolls, but in the end they all start tasting the same. The dishes I most frequently order are: 1) «Monkey Brain» and 2) Yaki Udon. The monkey brain a deep fried ball of avocado with spicy tuna in it’s core, cut into 4 pieces. The Yaki Udon is a noodle dish and you can choose to have chicken, beef, shrimp, etc. Their Bento boxes are decent as for taste and proportions. The place is owned by Koreans, so some of the dishes have a little Korean flare to them. Again, can’t really say too much about the food except it’s the best place in Shreveport for sushi. Ambience(7.0÷10) = The décor is decent and the place is clean. The music selection is a bit strange… Linkin Park in a Japanese restaurant? Otherwise, no major complaints or things to praise. Service(7.5÷10) = Service is what I expect from most basic sushi places in the US. Keep the water glasses filled, be prompt with the food, etc. HOWEVER… I’ve encountered the waiter Gracie G. has so vividly described, HAHA. Indeed this waiter creates an environment that can be uncomfortable for some. It’s funny how he remembers you so well too: 1) what you ordered last time, 2) which table you were at last time, and 3) which chair you sat on. One can admire his great memory, or one can be creeped out by it. Despite this«unique» behavior, it has not stopped me from going to this place. If you are looking for a friend, this waiter will be your friend, haha. Overall(7.5÷10) = If I were to rate this based on a Shreveport scale, I would give this place 4 Unilocal stars. If you are craving sushi, come to Sushi Gen. If you are looking to make a friend, a very personable waiter awaits you at Sushi Gen. If you want some«AZN-ness» in Shreveport, come to Sushi Gen.
